They would be my preferred winners in the whole play-offs shebang as their average attendance is the lowest of the three Championship teams, by a margin. I reckon Raith & Partick could make a decent go if promoted and County will likely be challenging for 10th/11th spot again if they manage to stay up. I'd love to see the Fakes go down as they have the potential to reinvigorate themselves especially if they can get rid of Levein although that may be expensive as mentioned on their thread.

    Mon the Diamonds!

I take your point here, but u see it a completely different way.

I want what’s best for the league, which in turn means what’s best for us.
My strong preference would be to see St. Johnstone or County go down and Partick Thistle to come up.

Though I was disappointed to see these players go , I always saw these transfers  as an opportunity to improve the squad as we got a decent transfer fee . The best example being McGarvey leaving and Somner and McDougall being bought with the transfer fee . Unfortunately when Gogic goes there's no transfer fee . That said I'm confident we will have a decent replacement coming in .

And that’s the main difference these days. We get buttons for our players if anything at all.

The problem is we've then set a precedent and other players might start demanding more. It's difficult, as I agree Gogic has been amazing, but I would rather the club was financially solvent and lived with in its means and that will inevitably result in the loss of good players, unfortunately.

Yup. It has ever been thus and losing those players never seems to get any less disappointing/annoying.

Back in the day, I remember being devastated as a young lad to lose players like McGarvey, McAvennie and Clarke, but the blow was softened massively by the fact they all went to top English sides. I never could and never will get used to losing players to the likes of Aberdeen, Dundee United or Hibs. I know their spending power is greater than ours but it still sticks in the craw.

But you’re right, as much as it pains me to say it, we’re better keeping our house in order, even if it means losing players to our competitors.

I think even if we beat them Dundee will lose to Killie.

Dundee fans before our game seemed to think that the relationship between the managers would mean Killie would lay down to Dundee if needed and Killie had nothing to play for.

Not saying that would have happened, but I do think if it's us and Killie for 4th, and Dundee with zero to play for, that a win at Celtic Park wouldn't be enough for us.

    Unless we win 15-0.

It’s one thing to think that Killie will beat Dundee because they are a better team, but utter nonsense to suggest that Tony Doc would send a team of professional footballers out to deliberately lose a match, just because he’s pals with the manager of the other team.

Anyone thinking that is a realistic possibility is an idiot (and I know you weren’t saying that, merely quoting some Dundee fans).

    Hud your pus.

I've watched Dundee all season and in a better position to comment than you. We've picked up a relegation esque amount of points against the top five and Hibs. We're not at that level yet.

Thankfully we gained a title winning amount of points against the bottom three.

    Thank you.

Fair enough mate, I was just applying the simple logic that you were top 6 standard because…….erm……..you’re in the top 6.

The formation hampered us and Boateng did not deserve to be dropped IMO. Dodgson had so much of the ball in the first half and there was absolutely nothing for him on but to turn around and give it to Donnelly.

Bakayoko had one of his off days (happens alot against the better sides) and Lamie was utter shite.

We'll need to start competing with the top sides in this division which I'm sure Docherty will address in the summer. Even three of the right additions can make a huge difference.

St Mirren looked better than us today and I have no complaints. We're not top six level yet as I've said for months. The fact we made it and will take the extra revenue is an absolute bonus.

    Thank you.

    Beg to differ.

You are top 6 level because you’re there.

No question it was a bad day today, but as one of your fans said on the match thread, we’re just a bit further down the journey than you.

If it was a massive game, I think St Johnstone (due to distance) and Killie have brought bigger in the past. Can't remember Motherwell bringing a huge support.

It's a decent support you've brought. Not many as I thought you'd bring but certainly good nonetheless.

I think we’ve brought bigger in the past too. I’m sure we had more at the Cody Cooke hat trick game.

While it’s a fantastic away support, and certainly one of the biggest at Dens outside the Old Firm this season, I think it’s clear to see why suggestions St Mirren would sell out the Shankly were rightly laughed at.

Aye it’s silly to think St. Mirren could sell out the away end, when Dundee didn’t even get close to selling out their home end.

An interesting interpretation I have to say - you've added a fair bit of poetic licence there.

In fairness, only someone who didn’t know that United hadn’t won a UEFA Cup (i.e. no one), would’ve interpreted it the way you did.

Because I know they didn’t, I immediately interpreted it as having got to a final, despite the agreed shocking English.

  10. 1 hour ago, hk blues said:

And most of us Dees would agree with that last sentence but the claim that they won a euro final is just fantasy and was quite rightly called out.

In fairness I don’t think the post specifically said they won it, but I can see how it could easily be interpreted that way.
I don’t think the poster actually thought they’d won it. You wouldn’t say a team won a UEFA Cup final. You would just say they won the UEFA Cup.

  11. In terms of how Celtic and Rangers impact the race between us and Dundee, the ideal scenario for us would be as follows.

This weekend -Rangers beat Killie and Celtic draw with Hearts.

Next game - Draw between them.

Next games - Rangers beat Dundee and Celtic beat Killie.

Next games - Rangers lose to Hearts and Celtic beat Dundee to win the league.

Final game - champions Celtic turn up smelling like a barman’s tie and still hawf pished.

    Job done. 👍

The league is likely to be over by the time Dundee go to Ibrox, that rabble we saw at our place on Sunday are going to get a doing at Parkhead.

But even if they lose at Parkhead the league still won’t be over. Assuming both teams win this weekend that is.

I also think people are overplaying how “shite” Rangers are and how “good” Celtic are. Rangers may have been shite on Sunday but they still won. Surely that must say something about them?

I don’t think there’s much between them and I also don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion that Celtic will win against them.

Obviously, it's just my humble opinion. However, Celtic have only lost once this season at home. Rangers have lost three times and have recently been dropping points. We deserved at least a draw last weekend and they were beaten by Ross County. They have lost their bottle. It gives me the absolute fear to think it, but I can see Rangers slipping up. I really do not see us beating Celtic. If they've won the league perhaps we can take a point off them if we get lucky, but even that's highly unlikely.

If we lose on Saturday, our only real hope is to win both our home games. It needs to be done by May 18th, IMHO, or we need a favour from Killie.

It’s a fair opinion, but I take a different one.
When Rangers play Dundee, the league will not be over and Rangers will be desperate for points.
I’d say there’s more chance of us beating a tools down, feet up Celtic, than of Dundee beating a Rangers team that need to win to keep the league alive. When you say Rangers have lost 3 times at home to Celtic’s one, that is of course correct. However, to put that into context a little, one of those defeats was against Celtic and the other was against Aberdeen last September.  If the Rangers Dundee game was at Dens I’d be more inclined to agree with you, but not at Ibrox.
    Think positive ma man! 👍

Just looking at each clubs' remaining fixtures after this game. With two home games, on paper we have the easier run in. I'm possibly stating the obvious, here, but I like to get things clear in my mind and so thought I'd share it, for what its worth.

Home & Away tables taken from: https://www.soccerstats.com/homeaway.asp?league=scotland

A St. Mirren win will put us five points clear with the above fixtures remaining. Given our better goal difference, Dundee would have to take at least six points from the remaining fixtures and hope we lose all three of ours. This will be almost enough to ensure we finish in fifth spot, in my humble opinion.

A draw obviously maintains the status quo. Dundee will need to take at least three points from their remaining three fixtures and hope we lose all ours.

A Dundee win will put Dundee a point clear of us and reduce their goal difference deficit.

I would like to think Dundee definitely won't win at Ibrox, but with the pressure of the title race, Rangers' home defeat to Motherwell and their loss in Dingwall, I don't have the utmost confidence in Rangers at the moment; that said a Dundee victory at Ibrox is clearly unlikely, but I would rather go there that Celtic Park. Killie and Hearts have nothing to play for, and I always think soon-to-be out of contract players might not give 100% - however, we also benefit (and lose) from that.

There is next to zero chance we will win at Celtic Park and a very slim chance we will take a point, unless they have already won the title. Their sole loss at home this season was against Hearts, though notably they have had a few off days when they didn't collect all three points.

Hearts' home record is quite formidable, having lost just three from seventeen, so I am pleased we don't have to go to Tynecastle.

Our respective games against Killie will both be massive and in the event of a draw will quite possibly prove decisive, IMHO. I only noticed that their away form is poor, they're actually 7th in the away table - having won three, drawn eight and lost five! Failure to beat them could be very costly, then.

Conclusion: the pressure is on Dundee to win Saturday's game. A draw will still mean it can go either way. A Dundee loss will almost guarantee us fifth, assuming we don't implode in the last three games.

It doesn't need to be said, but I will write it anyway: this is a HUGE game for both clubs!

    COYS! 😬

Why do Dundee get a potential win at Ibrox, but we don’t get a potential win at Parkhead?

Apologies if the answer was in the remainder of your post but it was a bit of a TLDR and I’m a bit tired.
