I've been told, from a very good source, that Beith have an acceptance from SPFL to get their license.

Floodlights are the only issue and they have an agreement to have them fitted within 6 weeks.

On the basis of the application that they have submitted , they will have their license.

    No free pass, I'm afraid.

Beith have released a statement on their twitter account stating that they are unable to get a licence this year (I don't know how to copy & paste, so you'll have to look yourself).

I'm very happy to be proved wrong in this case.

It’s a foul albeit in the soft variety but it is a penalty

There's no such thing as a "soft" penalty. It's either a penalty or not.

    And it was a penalty.

Thought ref was poor throughout the game. Too many needless yellow cards and only 1 minute of added time at the end (although he did play 2). This after booking a Pollok player for time wasting at a throw in (?), warning the Pollok keeper to hurry up retrieving the ball from behind his goal ( not sure why, as he never kicked it there) and any number of subs.

No Linlithgow fan has mentioned a free pass. That’s one of our rivals mentioning it in a “you lot are going to be jammy” way.

From a football point of view I want a playoff with two massive crowds (Of course I think both winners should go up) but there has to be clarification so the teams can prepare. Not really acceptable to not know this or have it in place by the second last month of the season.

Strangely enough, I heard it being discussed on Sunday at the final, which is why I posted the info I have.

As a new applicant, there is no derogation. Unless you tick every single box your application will not even be forwarded to the Licencing Committee for consideration.  Unless the application is approved by this committee, it doesn't go to the SFA AGM to be rubber stamped.

That's a very different thing from one of the SFA licence people helping and advising Beith through the process (if that is happening) and telling them that as far as they're concerned, they've done everything required apart from floodlights.

Then there's the fact that no planning application for lights can be found.

I'd be very surprised to see Beith in the play-offs if they win the league.

Only passing on what I've been told to stop fans thinking that promotion to the lowland league is a formality, once the EOS has been won.

I will be very happy to be proved wrong.

Talbot are doing their usual, dropping points  / losing games that they shouldn't.  Questions have always been asked about Talbot's desire to move out of the West.

I've watched Darvel, Beith and Talbot recently and , in my opinion, Beith are definitely the best of the 3 and will be the most difficult to get past.

An acceptance from the SPFL won't do them any good, as its the SFA who issue licences.

SFA / SPFL - whoever it is, they have an assurance that the licence will be granted.

I only posted as Linlithgow fans are talking about a free pass once the league is won.

My understanding is that there will definitely be a play off, whether Beith or Talbot.

Only posting so that fans don't get carried away.

Beith are a decent, well organised team and will be difficult to overcome, but I believe Linlithgow can do it.

That would be impressive, as currently there's no planning application for lights showing on the council's website.

They have written confirmation that they will get their license.

That's from a source in Beith.

Only passing this info on as people seem to think Linlithgow have a free pass if / when they win the league.

There will be a play off, whether it's Beith or Talbot.

A long way to go but if Beith succeed they’ve ploughed their cash into a team without having the facilities they’ve only themselves to blame.

Expecting Darvel to still win though, that win on Sat for them was massive at Pollok.

  8. Horrible game, but getting through is all that really matters.

Sauchie were pressing in the second half and could have gone on to win it, had the centre forward not had a moment of madness.

Sauchie tactics were horrible though, keeper kicking the ball long for centre forward to chase. The epitome of long ball football.

Not sure how much the wind / state of the pitch influenced the game, but that was as poor as I've seen Linlithgow this season.

  9. Once again, what are acceptable and unacceptable crimes?

I regularly speed when driving, park where I shouldn't and have used the work phone for non work reasons. I don't think I am a criminal for doing these things, however, someone else with higher standard than me might disagree.

We set the bar for what we think is acceptable, but that bar is likely to be set  higher or lower by other people.

"Pathetic woke people" are more likely to be the ones to give someone a second chance don't you think?

But hey, on you go using the term as an insult even though you haven't a clue what it really means without Googling it.

    Woke people?

People like you who look for reasons to be indignant

Already asked, what are the acceptable and unacceptable crimes and who decided which would go into whuch category?

Need you to educate me on this before I can continue conversation

There you go. Evidently you'll disagree. Enjoy what game you're at today.

....... and always looking for something to get indignant about

    This woke society is frightening.

People actively looking for things to be offended by.

Wonder how many players currently in the EOS have criminal convictions. I would bet more than a few.

Should the EOS now be banning any player who has a criminal conviction, to avoid somebody getting upset.

Is domestic abuse worse than dealing drugs, driving under the influence, assault of a member of the health services / police / or anyone else who works for the community.

If we don't allow offenders the opportunity to rejoin society after they've served their sentence, then they will just return to re-offending.

I don't the player who has caused this furore, but I've got to believe he has been dealt with by the law and been considered capable of rejoining society.

Wouldn't normally quote from the bible, but "he is without sin, cast the first stone".

Always amazes me when people say they have never commited a crime - so they've never driven 1 mile over the speed limit, parked where they shouldn't have, taken stationery from work (pens ) or not owned up to being given too much change / been undercharged.

We all commit crimes, we just set the bar at different levels from other people.

Sorry for the rant, been one of those days

This one falls well in the unacceptable category & coming straight after it happened and Penicuik handling it so well .

Can you give me a list of acceptable and unacceptable crimes and advise me how this list is compiled.

I do not support WW and have no idea what crime the player has committed (I assume he's been found guilty?),

Just curious about the moral judgement process and wonder at the morality of those making the judgement .

  14. I'm not condoning what the player did, there is no excuse for domestic abuse, however, is there a list of acceptable and unacceptable crimes for footballers?

I imagine there are quite a few who have convictions for assault (Declan Gallagher?), Serious driving offences, theft & fraud and drug offences.

Who decides which ones are acceptable?

If you'd watched the video you would know it was a push and I am correct.

You should probably rewatch the second penalty then get your eyes checked if you still think that was an attempt to get the ball.

The Linlithgow penalty was not denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity so none of the previous discussion applies, no sanction required.

Well that clears that up then. Sorry for having a different view to you.

Defender is watching the ball as it's crossed, his eyes are on the ball, not the forward, but that's just my opinion.

A cross heading to the centre half, who has a chance of getting a header goalwards, is a potential goalscoring chance, but once again, just my opinion.

I have had many a Barney with other posters on P&B. Certainly this year I am trying to avoid these. Last couple of years (before this season) I felt as if I was the sole representative on the Musselburgh thread, so at times felt a duty to respond if a question was asked or if someone came on and made a statement I didn’t agree with. Not my job / right, but felt I should / needed to do.

Luckily, for me, there is a new poster in town, so although I still regularly partake, I at least have an ally and someone who is now the ‘Lead poster’ on the Burgh page.

    I am no friend of Alan C f - but I think a couple of guys on this thread need to draw breath before spouting crap on their own forum. Two points if I may;

    1. Since when was a supporter / non-supporter not allowed to come on and make comment on someone/team’s thread? Pretty boring if it is only own-supporters who come on, unless you are fans of a couple of clubs on here, where their own fans argue amongst themselves.

    2. You say Alan has posted 30 times? So? I assume you read some or all, so you will know full well why so many posts have come from him. Alan is purely responding to posts about him or his club which have mainly been raised by Linlithgow fans - many of who know they are going to get a response back.

Not disputing anyone's right to post on opposition threads, just find it odd the frequency of the posts, considering he supports their biggest rivals.

I missed the game on Saturday and came on here to get the fan's perspective of the game. I didn't read all Alan's  posts, just counted them.

I don't support Linlithgow, I follow them because I have a personal interest.

That's because the supporters use the Facebook page not pie.qnd bovril. More lithgy fans on it than camelon.

I'm not as informed as I think I am in regards to what

Since the final whistle on Saturday, you've posted over 30 posts on this thread. Almost as many as all the Linlithgow fans posts put together.

How many posts have you made on the Camelon thread since final whistle on Saturday?

Only conclusion I can reach, based on your posting activity, is that you are a closet Linlithgow fan.

Your making that sound like whoever it was raised their arms to assault him the person was obviously trying to push him away. You are just twisting that. As I said quite happy to discuss it with you in person over a juice or a coffee.

But let's be honest here all the agro needs to stop as I said two of your more senior committee members agree with that so let it be.

If you have mental health issues, as you have previously said, why do you keep coming onto this thread?

It can't do your mental health any good. It does provide a good laugh for the rest of us, but what do you gain, apart from ridicule?

I missed the game yesterday, as I was watching Celtic, but from the reports I have received, JH was the aggressor and John, who I have never witnessed ever losing the rag, did not react to the provocation.

Dundee United had a similar set up to Camelon and according to some accounts, like Camelon, were unlucky not to take something from the game. Absolute nonsense. 10 men behind the ball, wasting time, doing everything to frustrate the other team, does not mean you are unlucky or deserving of something, when you lose by the odd goal.

I understand why Camelon and Dundee United did what they did, but save us the nonsense about deserving something or being unlucky.

Can I add, after watching the highlights, why was the Camelon player who assaulted Mark Stowe, not shown a straight red. Mark deserved his booking, but the player he fouled got up and assaulted him. Why no ref card?
