I see the player of the season awards are appearing tonight, I have never gone to any club events, calendar signings, open days, nights with Tam Cowan, are they worth it?

Open days are good if you have kids. Sometimes a few players wandering around but mainly about the stalls and bouncy castles/facepainting and stuff the last ones I went to. Regularly go to calendar signings, players usually happy to sign stuff and take selfies if you're into that sorta stuff. Last ones they've let us in the dressing room and also the dugout and press interview room as well.
Last player of the year dance I went to I was 10 and don't think it was an official one either. Not sure I'd pay for it myself even if it was half the price.

  2. So now everyone's adding in their bills, mine was £77 and now went up to £102. New customers would get it for £62 and if I took OFF the phoneline and Sky Movies it'd somehow be £140...

New development was today I got a text from them saying I can get £25% off my broadband if I renew.... and would you know it the link sent in the text does not work either on mobile or laptop. (virginmedia.com/renewal) Asks me to sign in and then says We couldn't find the page you are looking for. As broadband is part of the bundle idk how much this discount would be. Looks like it's retentions next week to give them a chance.

Sky's website says there's a £30 connection fee but then prices are around 30-40. Parents pay £174 with Sky Sports, Sky Atlantic and possibly Movies as well.

And what's with Sky's best deal being some weird router type thing that wants you to stream every single thing? Is it soon to be the end of recording things to the box? What if the thing I wanna watch isn't on streaming? What if more than one thing's on at the same time? If I was gonna stream everything I'd dump all TV services and watch on the laptop on websites of a spurious nature.

  3. Virgin Media send me an email that my contract's up and the price has went up £25, but if I was a new customer I'd get it for £40 cheaper than the new price (15 cheaper than what I was previously). Phoned them yesterday to say new price was too much, guy offers me adding Sky Sports for new price +£2 which is maybe a good deal but in no way cheaper than the new price.

Also I have TV, broadband and phoneline with them, as well as an addon for Sky Movies. According to their system if I took off the phoneline (which I have never used as I physically don't have a house phone) and the Sky Movies it would cost even more. Somehow this package and the phoneline is -£40. One of the rare instances of a company paying you to use their services.

Guy confirms cheaper price for new customers but can't do anything to match it despite me being with them for over 12 years. Says another company "will give you a discount but then that will end and you will pay new price". Clearly the best bet is to keep switching every 2yrs.

I m convinced that some 'fans' go to games just to scream "Get to f**k (insert name of latest scapegoat / chosen player they've decided to take an instant dislike to for some obscure reason)

Football crowds allow a release of the pent-up emotions and frustrations of everyday life, even the negative emotions. That scapegoat is a temporary stand-in for every asshole customer/boss/partner/child/parent/authority figure/system/patriarchy/nameless horror that they are not allowed or unable to express frustration at from Saturday 5pm-next Saturday at 2.59. So come 3pm kick-off there's a lot to be vented. Holding it in is not good for your health. We exist to improve people's lives. Even moaning-faced twunts.

  5. As much as he's grown on me, I think now seems like a natural ending of ways with Bevis. As mentioned before, apart from the academy players he's been here the longest. As much as I'll miss his lanky form going on a wander with the ball randomly, and the African facebook fan invasion, him and Kelly can be thanked for their efforts. Would probably say the same for Slattery but we might extend him for 6 months to recover, with an option on another 6 if he's back to being top Slatts.

  6. The Warning were as excellent as expected on Tuesday. Cannot see them playing The Garage again, maybe up to the Barras or an Academy next tour. Good support from Conquer Divide if you like a bit of female duel-vocallist screaming.

A few others for this year, bought Keane tickets for August, Escape The Fate just announced for July, and aforementioned Conquer Divide are supporting New Years Day that my sister wants me to go to with her.

Next for me is Tenacious D at the Hydro and Twin Atlantic at the Academy, both in May.

Is anyone else watching the game on ‘dodgy stick’ the Motherwell TV channel seems awful quality. But the Aberdeen one is perfect. Found our Well TV streams to be crap recently.

A website I use has links to several different streams. They all seem to be Red TV though 😭 Picture and sound is good, but lags every 2 seconds too :(

  8. I've still got my first gig tshirt (A) from 2002 but it's been retired to my mum's loft due to holes under the arms. Oldest I still wear I think is an Offspring one from 2005.

Footballwise I've got a claret 'Well top from when we were sponsored by The Untouchables, sometime around 02-04. It's actually in much better nick than the Cash Converters one I've got from the 2010's.

I was just casually scrolling through tiktok (don't judge) and up popped an advert featuring Jacob Blyth flogging an ear wax removal tool.

I'm not saying facebook is a good social media (maybe better by comparison at least) but mine showed me recently I have two friends in common with John Sutton and he does personal training and a community club teaching kids.

It isn't that simple. If something isn't deemed racist/sectarian etc by the courts I'm not sure how a footballing body can decide it is.

Idk if this is the point he was going for, but they don't really need to use the words racism or sectarianism to punish clubs for it. Anything which doesn't specifically make a reference to religion like songs about Bobby Sands or the royal family can still be classed as offensive or trying to incite violence/hatred. The rules posted by @CoF refers to Unacceptable Conduct, the definition I found below from the SFA website mention at Hampden but I'm sure it's the exact same in every ground. Disorderly Coduct (II) seems to cover it. (as well as any chants of The Referee's A w****r too tbf).

ETA: a key underlying principle: what would Sainsbury's have sought to do if they caught a shoplifter (putting the overstretched police thing aside)? I suspect it wouldn't be a mere slap on the wrist. It would be at least a store ban, and you need consistency.

I have heard stories from Americans about some of their alleged policies. According to some their supermarkets note frequent shoplifters and the items they take and deliberately ignore it UNTIL they've stolen over a certain value, at which point it becomes a felony instead of petty theft and they can get royally shafted for it.

What's Oran Mor like as a gig venue? Got Microwave in there on Wednesday and only ever been in the pub part.

Only been there once for Tonight Alive in 2018. Very small and wider than it was deep IIRC. Sound was ok. Most annoying part was the rain that night and trying to actually find the place!

It's probably the right decision but I can't really imagine us without Bevis.

Someone asked a few pages ago who's been with us longest. According to Transfermarkt Barry Maguire (remember him?) signed the earliest. They have it as July 2019 which I'm guessing might just be when he turned pro? Not sure how it works with that.
Apart from him, Bevis is our second longest; joined in September 2019. SODS is third, August 2020, then Kelly and Slattery both July 2021.

Is Ian Watkins allowed to tweet from prison?

Only one of their albums went to the top according to Wikipedia and not sure if they were selling out tours, but not them anyway. Not sure he has imposter syndrome either, the only other place he could belong would be in a pine box according to general consensus.

  15. One of the people I follow on Twitter has been open about having imposter syndrome. Been in a band for 18yrs, had three albums top the UK Rock and Metal charts, sold out tours and still gets it. Never had imposter syndrome in a lasting way myself, but one thing that I have found true is that you never realise how much you do know until you have to explain it to someone else. Had moments helping new starts at an old job and came away like "I actually do know a lot of this."

  16. With all this talk of folk dodging rounds and moaning about couples I'm glad I pay for my own drinks separately. None of this nonsense or hassle when I'm drinking two JD/vodka to everyone's pint and can get doubles when I feel like it. Also, having to carry all the drinks is a nightmare. Last time I bought a round and half the glasses got spilt due to my horrible co-ordination. It was in the pub that used to be at Queen Street that's now a shiny glass entrance and we were sitting outside. I was sober at the time, made it up the three stairs and through the doors and they went everywhere two steps from the table. No, if there's ever anymore than two or three people then buy your own.

The keeping up with the Jonseses' chat does put me in mind of a place not too far away my parents called Spam Valley at one point. When asked why apparently it was said that the folk living there spent so much on the house/mortgage they could only afford to eat spam for dinner.

The PTTGOMN are the number of schools who then provide their own form to be completed which duplicates everything that the now prepopulated form has.

Never heard of TES but this is almost every application I've done in the past 2 years. Even on indeed the "apply now" takes you to their own website which usually requires it's own login and password, asks you to upload a CV...then asks you to manually type in every single detail that is on your CV.
Also, cover letters are pointless wastes of time.

I posted about this on another thread somewhere. But people who shout your name from another room, and ignore you when you shout back “what” really rips ma knitting

I do this, normally to the child though. I'm not sure why you're knitting's in danger though. Clearly the other person wants to talk to you and not have a shouted conversation through walls, so shouting your name is to get your attention and get you off your arse to go find out what they want. Though I suppose if it was urgent enough they could come talk to you. I do it to the child but there is an inherent power imbalance in my favour and I can make her do the walking.

  18. Whether we get it or not, still being in with a shout for top 6 is hilarious to me. Just 45mins of football ago we were "sleepwalking into the playoffs" according to some (cant remember if it was here or twitter/fb I read it). I'm sure last week I posted our draw against St Mirren was still one point further away from 10th! And while I don't want to compare this team to Alexander's really, we've seen what squeaking 5th can do if you're not firing properly. Imagine how many Sligo would score against this defence before we started actually playing! 7th is good enough for me. Remember this was a safety-first/transitional season....unless we actually get 6th. Then it's fighting for fifth all the way.

On the other hand, stopping someone winning the league... tempting.

Anyone remember the first post-split game we actually won? IIRC it was a Sunday...

PS: After reading the replies to Barmack, our Wrexham-style-documentary is going to be called "Welcome To The Rollercoaster" and start off with a go-pro video of the Tornado at M&D's

Hayden Christensen is only 6' tall. Always thought he was way taller.

David Prowse was 6ft 6, leading to a fan theory that after being burned on Mustafar Vader had his height improved with his robotic legs so that he would always have the high ground...

It's useful if you want to have multiple accounts on the same service that needs email verification. Like if something's telling you you're already registered, but it was years ago and your password recovery is via an old phone number.

I've also heard it can be used in tracing spam. eg if you sign up for various websites/services then put a dot or a random capitalization somewhere new each time, so that if you do get spam emails then you can trace which service it came from/who sold your data.
