For me, the jury is very much out on McKenna at the moment. Whether it's the switch to full-time or playing catch-up in pre-season he hasn't impressed me.

Wondered why he wasn't in instead of Oliver. Is it fitness? I don't think Oliver had the best game today although didn't do anything hugely wrong.

  2. Keelan Adams.... What a find. Outstanding performance. He has some speed on him and was outrunning every player on that park at times. Tackles were excellent as well, the number of times he won the ball back potentially outperformed all the other defenders on the park. Very impressed. Right back definitely showcases his speed and attacking threat far more, looking forward to seeing how he develops over the season.

So you are happy giving Hamilton and Livi money when they bring a handful of fans to our place and rely on away supports to challenge us.

You are happy to give Raith money after the COVID debacle and refused to cancel a league game after our physio died the day before the game.

You are happy to give Dunfermline money before the transfer window to maybe pinch a player we were looking at.

Well, I'm not and I don't give them my cash.

As I said, other clubs finances are not my concern. Supporting my team absolutely is my concern especially at away matches where getting a win is tougher. Weird old firm mentality and if you haven't learned how dire that situation is having seen what happens when away fans aren't present there is no helping you. Maybe football isn't for you if you're not interested in supporting your team.

  4. Football is more than money. That's become very clear in the last few years where our support has stopped turning on the players. The difference in our support is unreal and the players and manager have consistently spoken about how that's given them that extra 5% to go to the last minute. Cannot believe anyone would remove that for some petty reason. Other teams finances do not concern me whatsoever. There will always be teams with more money and teams with less but I will be at every Falkirk game I can, home or away.

Genuine question, where does the expectation of a top 4 finish come from? Is it that you generally think the Championship is a weak league and last years squad is good enough, or is it based on additions to your squad so far this season? Not sure who you've signed, which I why I'm asking the question. Also not saying you're right or wrong, it's your own opinion after all. Just curious what you're basing that on.

I think most people are saying top 4 would be the marker of a really successful first season back - although some have the expectation I don't think most are taking that for granted. But in general it comes from looking at how league one sides have done the last few years and bar a few, mostly top 4 is where they have finished.

Is the stream up for the game tonight? I am still being charged £18 as I never cancelled my subscription and I'm trying to work out if this is what's denying me the stream. Will cancel and re-subscribe at the end of the month but I don't fancy paying out £20 tonight given I got charged £18 a few days ago.

Mine is working really well so might well be what you've said or if you're on a VPN it might have been blocked

how many of us venture over to COYB?  have you seen the meltdown over the pie prices? just weird.

Have thought the same. Genuinely didn't think it would be this big an issue but seems they are organising a full boycott of the stalls. Definitely feel for those who have been priced out of a tradition but with cost of living the fact prices haven't risen previously is surprising.

i'm not taking sides that's what presented without comment means, people can make their own decision. 🥹

what nobody is talking about is the tactical change yesterday that saw us being more direct and Ross MacIver playing a vital role in winning the ball in the air. he was really important yesterday

Selective comments are presenting one side of things though are they not?

I think many people have been talking about the vital role MacIver had yesterday and how excellent he was. Also how important he is to the front 4 with Morrison and Miller relying on MacIvers play.

At the end of the day it's a great position to be in. Three weeks to go until the start of the season and we're talking (arguing) about 1 or 2 additions to supplement the existing squad which is looking sharp. And not needing 4 or 5 bodies and being short on quality in several areas. Huge credit to McGlynn & night and day between his appoach to recruitment and the last few managers we've had

Absolutely. Just to add I think MacIver will do really well and was my man of the match yesterday.

I have never said anything of the such, all I disagreeing with was one of the Falkirk daft guys saying we needed an upgrade.
    competition is healthy

You've literally two posts ago said that the FD guys were advocating for him being replaced which is not at all the context of that conversation and is a misrepresentation. All they have said is it would be great to have another striker and it would be great if they were an upgrade? And either way, are you really disagreeing that getting an upgrade on any player would be a good thing? I do not understand that at all. I'd be really concerned for the state of football if teams stopped looking for upgrades to be fair to players whether they have performed well or not. If Lawrence Shankland rocked up to TFS I wouldn't be saying no because MacIver did really well in league one.

  11. 2 hours ago, BPM said:

No that is not what was said. One on Falkirk Daft said we needed an upgrade on MacIver. That is not saying we need competition but replacement which is clearly unfair on MacIver

I think you're the only one that thinks getting in another quality striker that can challenge McIver means anyone wants him replaced. It absolutely means having some positive competition which is firstly good for the team and secondly good for MacIver.

In general you have some strange perceptions of other people's discussion. Someone saying we could do with another centre half as back up to Lang and Donaldson does not mean anyone also thinks we are in a terrible situation. It would just mean that we would get to see Keelan Adams in his preferred position.

Same thoughts, with last seasons home gates very healthy, merchandise off the scale, huge increase in ST sales, FSS subscriptions up, sell outs or close to with our fife neighbours and decent away supports ,thought there would be a bit of budget stretch. Guessing getting Morrison &Tait signed up and the overall increased costs for Championship wages has left the biscuit tin empty.

Exactly - saying that if we had had to spend the budget on anyone I am very happy it's the team we have. Morrison, Tait, Donaldson, Ross all absolutely worth it imo.

Whilst releasing some of those players on the back of last season would not have been an easy call, these are the kind of hard, unsentimental decisions that a manager is (well) remunerated to make. Especially given that we (a) are moving up a level and (b) have a comparatively  limited budget with which to strengthen the squad. The retention of Oliver, in light of McKenna being signed, just feels like overkill. Shanley was signed on a 6-month deal with a year's option, so it may well be that say he reached a pre-agreed appearance threshold to trigger that option but there was precious little on show from him to suggest he is capable of making any sort of impact at Championship level. Hopefully a full preseason will have elicited some improvement, time will tell.

That we're perhaps now having to rely on a Clyde to take Allan to possibly afford us the opportunity to bring in one player is a pretty brutal situation to be in. Extremely underwhelming transfer window to date.

The signings of McKenna and Oliver are months apart and while it seems we were wanting McKenna from January based on the FH interview McKenna was hesitating. To me it makes perfect sense that we sign Gary Oliver as a back up incase we don't get McKenna at all without taking the gamble of having no one to replace Nesbit. At the same time it means not having to cash out on someone really expensive and then be unable to sign McKenna. McGlynn can't predict everything and trusts Oliver.

I am though surprised that the increase in season tickets seems to have had such little effect.  Thought we would have enough money for another 2 permanent signings rather than holding out for loans. Guess the wage increases for being in the championship and extensions were made on the gamble we would have those season tickets to cover it.

Oh really? Surprised as I just assumed that it would be a percentage. Does that mean bigger crowds buying more food doesn't really help the club more than a small crowd?

I guess on the other end of the spectrum the club is protected if small crowds don't buy enough... But at Falkirk we don't have that problem so didn't occur to me 😉

Do Falkirk not just get a set price for giving them the contract and after that it's up to the company what they charge etc.

  16. I personally have no issue with the increase in price but at the same time I'm lucky enough that £7 is not out of my reach so I do feel for those that have been priced out of a tradition they have enjoyed for years before.

But I was one that complained in the survey about the kiosks. Have thought for a long time the quality has been sub-par. The paper cups were verging on dangerous with the number of times I've spilled scalding water trying to open them to get milk in my tea to then realise the tops had deformed to a point it couldn't be put back on the cup. The pies were pretty dire the few times I've had them so was rarely a purchase I made. If these ones are nicer I'm more likely to go and buy them to be quite honest. I do wish there was a bit more variety with the new company though, looks like there is less on offer now even if the quality is better.

I also think we have to be realistic. The season ticket prices have been frozen but with costs constantly rising I think it's reasonable for prices of other things to increase in an attempt to compensate. Frustratingly, the way of the world at the moment.

Ps.   Buying wholesale a Bovril costs 15 pence, charging £3 ,, = £2.85 for hot water

    robbing B———s

Hot water which costs electricity to heat, paper cups which costs to buy and then I imagine the profits are split between the company and the club which admittedly I don't know the details of so is just a guess. I am happy to spend £3 on a bovril if £1 is going to the club.

Honeyman put in more good crosses in 10 minutes than Agyeman did in 80. Hopefully he'll be starting every week in the SPFL this season

It was cross after cross from him in that ten minutes and constantly beating the defenders. Very impressed for someone so young and hoping he might find himself on our bench this season rather than on loan.
