Except I was. During large parts of what was a 14 month trip. That I made friends while I was I was there does not negate the fact that It was a solo trip.

Travelling alone is great fun. In another life I went to Australia on my own, worked and met folk there who I travelled around with for a bit. Left them and went to NZ on my own, met more folk. Went to back to Australia to meet up with the first lot then headed up to SE Asia with one of them, they went home and I stayed on for a bit. Always have a book to read and you will be fine...

On the subject of Nesbitt, I thought he was his usual powder puff self and lacking conviction in his game. Until he moved to the right where he was like a new player, purpose and direction culminating in the cross for the goal. First game I have enjoyed in a very long time. Feels good.

Terrific afternoon, first game I have truly enjoyed in a long, long time but still room for improvement as we allowed QoS back into it. 3 genuinely fantastic, out your seat goals. Shout out to Finn Yeats, amazing game awareness for one so young. Seeing him pop up to cover McCann's side when McCann went for a wander was a particular highlight.

Community integration is absolutely the way forward, I don't disagree. Ultimately that is NLC's grand plan with ambitious (expensive) town hubs being built across the authority. I quite often get books for pupils from public libraries and it breaks my heart to see the selection they have that is woefully underused, meanwhile I am replacing books with second hand copies from the community library in Tesco. However, that isn't happening any time soon. In addition, school libraries are so much more than just a place to take out books and it is all the other things provided by a trained librarian that can't really be measured on a balanced sheet.

NLC have been making bold statements about integration with community libraries and widening access to resources. It's nonsense, they want teachers to run the libraries with the help of pupil volunteers and possible occasional input from public librarians. It's never going to work, school libraries will end up closed and the only people missing out will be the pupils.
