I've been listening to the new King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard album Omnium Gatherum on repeat these past couple of weeks and once again I've had my mind blown by a release of theirs. If there was one band in the world that I would love to see live that I haven't had the chance to yet, it would be them. This is their 20th album in less than 10 years, covering a multitude of genres ranging from psychedelic rock to heavy metal to hip hop to jazz to Turkish inspired microtonal music. A truly remarkable band.
The Aussies are leading the way in terms of guitar based music these days imo.

I want to give them a go. Is this a good album to start with?

This album covers quite a few different genres so without knowing your music taste I would say it is a pretty good place to start. It is also worth checking out their KEXP recorded live shows on YouTube to get a feel for the band and what they are about.

They're interesting and I very much like and respect what they're doing - the microtonal albums, especially. But I find the actual results quite patchy. The new album is a case in point - I absolutely love that 18 minute opening track, and have listened to it loads, but after that there wasn't a lot that grabbed me. I should give it another go, probably.

Lots of great music coming out of Aus these days, yeah.

I often find their opening track or two to be the strongest point of each record, they certainly do like to come out firing all cylinders. As you said not every tune in this album resonates but when you cover so many genres (there are multiple on Onmium Gatherum alone) that is bound to happen. This vast spectrum of music across their entire discography has resulted in each Gizz fan having a different collection of favourite tunes to the next, opposed to them having a standard go-to greatest hits list that other successful bands have. Going on Spotify and listening to the top 5 tunes on their account wouldn't be the best way to appreciate Gizz, in my opinion. They are a throw back to a time when people actually had the patience to listen to an album from start to finish and appreciate it for what it is, which I think is somewhat lost on a lot of the younger generations these days.

  4. Arbroath have been underdogs to be promoted from before it was even worth talking about and done so well to get to where they got to, but with the way the game played out tonight they should have won and couldn’t get the job done, and that will hurt. Fair play to Caley, they deserve to get the opportunity of the play off final simply because Arbroath didn’t take theirs when it was in their hands.

  5. I'd hate it if this had happened to my club, but it hasn't and infact has happened to an already soulless club that nobody seems to care about anyway. So in that case f**k it.

I have enjoyed some of the Open Goal material, in particular the Si Ferry Meets episodes which gives an insight into Scottish football that no other platform does. But it seems a bit taboo to say something like that on here...

Be brilliant banter if The Ayrshire Killie Boys messed it up, again. Around this time last year it looked like they were going to get 10th and stay up, they certainly messed that up. Then most assumed that's fine, they'll surely beat Dundee in the playoffs, messed that up too.  This year it seemed plenty assumed after they'd threw so much money at it in January they'd slowly pull away and have the title in the bag by now, oops.

They surely aren't going to mess it all up now, are they?

Nonesense. Any killie fan with their head screwed on could see we were in deep trouble from around Christmas time last season and we have been sub par for the majority of this season so if we end up not going up with the title then we can't have any complaints, imo.

With the nose dive St. Mirren have taken recently, maybe we will see you in the play offs,

Sorry, I don't understand you're question (Apologies, English is not my first language). When a team plays at home - the rating is increased by 70 points before computing the points exchanged.
    Update after yesterday's matches:
    77.769% - Auchinleck Talbot
    22.22% - Darvel
    0.011% - Pollok

I've absolutely no idea what this is about.

Chance of winning the league, i think.

  8. Have been enjoying the new Kae Tempest album the past couple weeks, which I've enjoyed.  But the big one for me is the new Fontaines DC album "Skinty Fia" that is out on Friday. Cannae wait.

  9. Ach yer baws there is no pressure on Arbroath. It is a huge game for both sides and if the Lichties don't feel any pressure then their players are underestimating the importance of what they could achieve. Which I don't believe to be the case.

As much as Friday night was a disappointing result for Killie and the fact that we haven't beaten Arbroath so far this season, I still feel like we will get the job done. Our home form of recent has been pretty good, and after saying we are pish for 75% of the season I feel like we have finally gotten our act together. In the same period, Arbroath have somewhat lost a bit of form, albeit their 5-1 demolition of Queens at the weekend did put the fear into me.

If we do indeed win, then I along with probably every Killie fan, will be hoping the Lichties win the play offs.

    Bring it on.

  10. We started the season well but as the months progressed we lost our best players and on Saturday Chris had to play himself for the last 25 minutes. Can't deny that doesn't rings alarm bells. The fact that there has been a steady loss of our best players over the course of the season could perhaps lie with Chris. I am purely speculating as I am too far removed from the gossip circles to truly know the reasons.

Carlo Monti in particular is as good as any player at this level and for his Buffs career to come to weekends spent on the bench and long spells not involved at all is disappointing. You've got to keep your most experienced players happy, especially in a time when you are relying on youth to make up a large percentage of the squad.

Chris was a great servant to the club and lead us through a transformation period, lets hope that whoever comes in can continue the upward trajectory our club has been on.
