  1. To draw a line under the athletic conversation. They’re a glorified amateur  team who play in a divisions well below United and the two should not even be discussed in the same breath. United are competing in the LL for a place in league two whilst athletic are playing teams that people have to Google. They’ve been found out when they’ve played teams such as newtongrange etc this season and this will be the case when they go up next season. They will never play at the same level as United and can only dream of winning the honours United have amassed over the years (these don’t include the Mickey Mouse cups athletic have won recently). It’s embarrassing that United are even associated with them as people sometimes mistake the two and think United are playing some of these ridiculous fixtures. Was commiserated the other day about our result against Thornton Hibs (apparently a real team and don’t know if they’re associated to the chocolate) and had to educate the individual that this was the amateur team from Boness.

let’s leave this tribute act alone and focus on the team from Boness who are playing multiple divisions higher in the LL and who continue to proudly represent the people from the town.

Think that ship may have sailed.

I wonder how long little will be allowed to captain that ship. Considering the financial outlay at the beginning of the season which wasn’t far off EK the Big T have had a bad season which has been perked up somewhat with the cup win a few weeks back

Surprised there hasn’t been any comments on here about Herds interview. Same excuses every week although he occasionally rolls Millar out to bamboozle people with jargon.

Sounds like a man who’s lost control and whilst a full rebuild may well be required the powers that be must surely be concerned about giving him money to spend based on his previous signings?

And you’re fishing hard with the “physical” and “punt and run” stuff.

Exactly, their goal came from a route one.long throw in. Dave’s summed it up…wasn’t much in the game but Boness have shown this season they are the better team and managed to get the win

Good win today with so many regulars missing. Don’t want to get hopes up just yet with a difficult run up to the end of the season, but does anyone know if the top four teams entry to the Challenge Cup includes the “b” teams?

B teams league finish is not counted within LL final standings as far as I’m aware

His man management skills leave a lot to be desired, some players have left because of this

Who Hunter? The only players I can recall moving on are Kieran Mooney on loan.

  7. Not too sure why athletic are being mentioned on this thread. They play at a very poor level against some absolute dross. if anyone thinks that tweedmouth, ormiston etc is comparable to the LL they are on a different planet.
They did shock Linlithgow at prestonfield earlier this season but not sure what that’s got to do with BUs. I believe BUs played them in a closed doors match mid week last season and it got stopped at about 7-0.

Wonder if Ryan will get a crowd figure today from the bu. Or stick to the tax dodging.

Does your carer know ur on the laptop at this time of night? What a stupid unnecessary antagonising comment to make. I thought personally it was good to see the crowd from both sets and hopefully we see the same again on Saturday

John Ward to Tranent is on a permanent basis.

Probably for the best as he didn't look happy at the BU's.

If we’ve managed to get money in for our 3rd choice LB it would appear to be a good bit of business. Hopefully we can strengthen in other areas

  10. I may be wrong but to me the statement implies that player deals were already in place prior to the new chairman being appointed in an effort to deflect any blame however as someone has pointed out above there were players who agreed new deals on wages (which IMO are not sustainable at this level) after he came in. We certainly lost one of our top earners in Jamie McCormack who was quite vocal in the lucrative amounts he was being offered to sign.

surely a club of this stature wasn’t pinning all their hopes of financial stability on a run in the Scottish as we’ve seen already that draw is a lottery (Tranent vs EK etc).

unlike a small minority who will no doubt take pleasure in any big clubs demise I sincerely hope Berwick can stabilise and continue to be competitive. Personally I think they’ve been a great addition to the LL and always enjoy a trip down there to watch u take on Boness

    Money man away

Max? He was sacked at Bonnyrigg, sacked at Broxburn and walked before he was sacked at Boness.

it seems money can’t replace his lack of managerial skills

  12. Not been on in a while and can’t believe that I’m reading posts from someone comparing that tribute act who play against stoneyburn and harthill every week to lowland league sides 😂😂😂 surely a wind up.

Ok you had Lennon Walker on loan at 16/17 and he may not have been built for men’s football at that age but he’s since developed into a quality player. Tuwi was absolutely hopeless at united as a young boy but similarly has developed into a good player albeit untested against players out with the lowest possible level of senior football

Looks like Ryan Stevenson misses the next 3 games:- Dalbeattie, Cowdenbeath and Rangers B.

Big loss as he has shown consistently good form.

Whilst I wasn’t there last week I’m led to believe it was a bit of a stupid red card to get in the final minute of a game which was all but done.

I can’t agree with you on the consistent comment Dave. In my opinion we have 2/3 players who deliver consistently and Ryan has not been one of them. Hopefully he serves his suspension and comes back fresh and ready for a strong second half of the season

John, you've lost me. Explain ?

I’m assuming John means he has worked out what number BU would’ve been in the draw and went from there. It’s not quite as simple to say BU would’ve drawn Raith as Talbot were a different number than BU would’ve been.

on to tomorrow, if watt isn’t through the middle I’ll be very surprised. Walker and Stevenson either side of him with Hamilton behind him.

Why did Max start our biggest game of the season with Zander Miller and Jack Smith up front ? Two players who this season have offered almost no physical presence never mind threat.

It cannot be because Dan Watt is injured.  When he came on he looked fitter than Miller and Smith.

100% agree with this. Delighted to see zander back after a terrible injury but he’s nowhere near back to the level required to face Talbot.

Jack smith starting through the middle was absolutely  mind boggling. His shirt can go straight back into the bag for next week as he never broke sweat.  Big Dan watt changed the dynamics of the game when he came on as did Jamie Hamilton

The boy is better than any attacking midfielder at United at present.

By all accounts he went awol from Arbroath which is why they got rid of him. He seems to enjoy playing against stoneyburn and west Calder. Pretty sure if Walker, Jones, Hamilton etc went and played in that league they’d look just as good if not better
