Spartans may withdraw from the competition if they are champions and enter the playoffs, so could turn into a bye to the second round.
I don’t think they should be allowed to withdraw. As John says the BUs would miss out on a badly needed home gate.Surely Spartans should be able to field a team of some description .

Why ?
I think this should be forgotten about now.
I have decided that I got it completely wrong before when thinking it would be a good idea to think about a”merger”
I thought I should post this change in my thinking as I felt last week it may be a good idea.I was totally wrong.
To be honest I feel a bit silly now for even thinking it would be a good idea.
The people on the BU committee I believe have the best interest of the club at heart and are aware that the Athletic want to go their own way completely, with no interest in putting their lot in with the BUs.

What was the information?
That should not be divulged on this forum .

Straight forward win for the BUs today in an untidy match.Nothing learned about the squad that we didn’t already know.Big job ahead for whoever takes over.
I have now done a complete 360 as regards a link up with Bo’ness Athletic.Having now been made aware of information as regards to what occurred before the formation of this club ,there is no way United should have anything to do with them.
78 years and counting.

New Bo’ness manager MUST have contacts all over Scottish football.
Huge job I front of whoever takes charge.
Fear that the committee will struggle to know how to go about their search as it’s been a while Since they have needed to find someone .
Probably find they will appoint Ian Little.
Talk of Stuart Hunter or Steven Hislop is really worrying as they have little experience .
Told you so.

In an effort to put this situation into perspective. Bo'ness United are now looking for a new manager.
All this talk of mergers etc. has nothing to do with the situation.
Because a few individuals come along and decide to start a football team and because of the situation with Newtown Park Ass. are allowed to play on Newtown Park and enjoy a bit of success in the lower reaches of the game has nothing whatsoever to do with BUs looking for a manager.
Over the years players, managers and committees have come and gone. Glory days and not so glory days have come and gone therefore there is nothing new about looking for another manager. These are all things that this other team have yet to experience. Only time will tell if they survive all those ups and down
If this sounds old fashioned and not moving with times then I am guilty on both accounts.
I agree ,they are two separate issues, new manager and talking about a merger.
It was brought into the conversation as a possible way forward as there really is a malaise at the BUs at the moment.0 -

Bad idea, should never happen. There is only one BO'NESS UNITED.
My concern is that the current Bo’ness United committee seem stuck in their ways and afraid of change.
Without knowing the ins and outs of what or was not said when the Athletic started up, I think that it’s time to move forward for the good of football in Bo’ness. There is no room in the town for two teams playing at a similar level.
Maybe I am being a bit naive in my thinking but the people at Athletic seem enthusiastic in what they are trying to do although they maybe have gone about their business a bit clumsily.

Time to go one team ?
Controversial but it may not be a bad idea.
Too much bad blood between clubs officials?

After watching the short coverage of yesterday’s game,it confirms to me that this manager has to go .
Macormack, like others, was asked to play in a position he was not comfortable with .He was at fault for both goals trying to get his body shape in correct position.
There was a left back on subs bench in Ward, not the best, but more used to the position.
I caught a glimpse of Max Christie at full time looking lost ,not angry just needing put out of his misery.

Was a neutral at todays game. Really enjoyed it.
I thought overall, result was maybe right. While Bo'ness were better side in first half, Linlithgow were better in 2nd by a larger distance.
Once Linlithgow brought a bit of extra pace on from the bench, that's where they turned the game. Could see the Bo'ness defence struggled with that.
Could also totally see all the up front issues for Bo'ness that get mentioned here regularly. When Bo'ness were good, the number 9 and 11 had a lot of the ball and ran with it, but never really got efforts away that would beat a keeper.
No doubt Linlithgow are a good team. But Bo'ness aren't far away. Find a pairing up front that works, a little more defensive mobility and just a little more depth for the midfield and there is a decent side there (obviously none of that is as easy as sounds, but the right players to add to the jigsaw are out there).
Bo’ness aren’t far away you say in one breath and then add that there are problems in defence, midfield and attack .?
Boness are miles away from a team for goodness sake .0 -

Round 1 of the Lowland League cup starts 29/4. No B teams allowed which means only the 16* teams in round one.
(*the LL winner can opt out of this competition to focus on the LL/HL game which gives one team a bye into the last
Thanks Dave.

Omg #7 take a breath and your beating with some dignity...
First half beggers deployed a solid back 4, destroyers in midfield and pace up front who were hit with one or max 2 touch from anywhere on the pitch.
Your destroyers ( gemmell, haa haa fell down if breathed on needing attention5) stopped our passing game and your needed of a map and compass to find your midfield in possession
2nd half rose management sorted the problem and a ridiculous challenge from your #5 was the start of an easy win, we were comfortable to see the game out
Another LL team dispatched and but for the mess of the leagues for years Bo'ness would be back in the Eos..... am right thinking they are the only eos winners * (awarded by covid) to not progress through into the SPFL?
Hail the Gallant!
Using the word “beggars “ to describe another football team is reprehensible.
Not clever,just ignorant.

Still the League Cup as one last possible piece of silverware to aim for but doubt anyone is getting that excited about that.
Is there still a League cup?

You will be skint when your committee come up with a plan to oust max. So we would just need to beat yous to second bottom. Job done.
Bit different from challenging top six straight away is it not?
Listen, I am fully aware Bo’ness are in the shit ,please don’t pretend that Linlithgow are anything like a good team though.

Got as far as slow back 4 and realised you are clearly taking the pish. Thomson and McPherson slow .
They are full backs.I was taking about Webb, Allison and Skinner . FS I am only being honest.

You say that but we pumped your league leaders 4-0 going on 10.
We’d challenge straight away.
Aye right.Mate you have a slow back four, no footballers in midfield and are really lightweight up front.
I take it you have plenty money to vastly improve your squad if you think you can “challenge “ straight away?

Fair points.I always think though that teams withdrawing from competitions for whatever reason is a bad look and a bit “unprofessional “ for want of a better phrase.
