MacKenzie is rapid and it's baffling why he's always on the bench for Clach.  The team is hardly blessed with pace and in the HL pace is a huge asset to sides.

Yeah I can’t get my head round it either, hopefully he’ll get more of a chance through the rest of the season.

Calum Ferguson will be key for Clach this season.  He'll score goals IMO.  He was a right handful the other night. He stuck out like like a sore thumb and you could tell a mile off he'd payed at a higher level.

I agree. He was Clach’s best player by a fair bit. I thought Lewis MacKenzie was great when he came on too. His ball carrying was causing Caley problems and his pass through for Ferguson’s goal was class.

No, kind of regret it now. Clach have been poor the last few games and I really didn't fancy watching them getting pummeled by the Caley reserves in a friendly, but sounds like a decent game. Hopefully they carry a bit of that energy to Brora tomorrow, last year's game was a classic for me, very unlucky to come away without at least a point, a proper battle it was.

Yeah definitely gave a decent account of themselves. If they take the positives from that match then it definitely could help spur them on.

Heard they're planning to invite other teams in next year as a preseason tournament. Not sure I can be bothered with Tuesday night's game, especially with the way Clach are playing at the moment.

Did you go to the game?

I thought it was entertaining, both teams played some decent stuff at times.

That would be good aye, be interesting to see where they planned to fit it in though. I’d presume before the league cup groups but at that point teams tend to be playing for fitness so might not get great games.

I’m planning on going down and hoping it’s at least entertaining. I recently revived an old football blog I had been writing so at the least it’ll be fun to write a wee bit about the Inverness Cup and the match haha.

  6. How are people feeling about the Inverness Cup next week? Not sure if it’s going to be replacing the ICT v Clach friendly every year but think it would be fun for it to involve other teams like it has in the past.

The Mallard is the general “go-to” for away fans when coming to Dingwall. It’s just off the train platform and is very close to the stadium (in fairness, everything in Dingwall is close to the Stadium). It will be busy, though. The National (which I think is now renamed The Stag but that could be wrong) used to be a very decent post-match pub. I’ve not been in since the rebranding, but I’ve heard decent things. There is also the Staggies Bar which is situated inside the stadium. It’s quite convenient but I found it fairly expensive for a drop in there last time I was in.

The rest of the pubs in Dingwall aren’t worth your salt.

Cheers! I’ll definitely drop in at the Staggies Bar at some point then and give one of the others a go as well.

    Aww, wee shame.

    But he was different, aye?

    He understood you, aye?

He said he wouldn't do it, aye?

Like a person with low self-esteem being left by partner after partner, Celtic fans will continue to get hurt and I will continue to fucking love it.

Don’t ever remember him saying he wouldn’t leave the club? From the first link to an EPL job to this one he’s only ever said he wants to concentrate on what he’s doing now rather than talk about his future.

You realise as well he is able to understand the fans as well as have different professional ambitions?

Must be shite supporting a team where all you have to be happy about at the end of the season is the manager who helped make sure you have a chance at European football possible leaving 😂

One thing worth knowing is that as winter kicks in there's sometimes venue/KO time changes&that there's different KO ties seasonally too(mind, most don't have floodlights),keep a close eye on social media;not just here, the official website&fitba north but also the SFA refs appointment page which can be the best for hearing about venue changes

Thanks for the advice I’ll make sure to bookmark the SFA refs page to make sure I don’t miss any changes!

Planning on heading to Bught on Friday for the game.

Quite a few of the Inverness & District Amateur games will be at Culloden Playing Fields. The league isn't the best at promoting fixtures and results, Facebook usually your best bet. Further east of Inverness, you start to break into North Junior territory, Nairn Saints being the nearest team. Don't forget the Highland League, either.

That’s brilliant, sounds like I’m not going to be short of football to go and watch haha.

A fair few NCL clubs field teams in the summer amateur leagues, often with some of the same players, so you could get a feeling for it before the season starts in August. The standards vary an awful lot, some are close to Highland League standard, others can be like pub teams. I'll probably be following the Clach u21 team around a bit along with the odd Inverness Athletic game in North Kessock. Loch Ness will be based in Fortrose for another year which would make for a decent afternoon out. Going to try to catch a game in Orkney this season.

P.S. And of course there's Fort William this season who are totally unpredictable. Decent day out from Inverness with a direct bus.

Thanks for the info. I’ll have a look at the amateur leagues and see what the fixtures are like before the NCL starts.

I think Inverness Athletic could be handy if they’re in North Kessock as I’ll be staying in Culloden so not far at all.

It’ll definitely be nice to take the odd trip to some matches further afield though and make an afternoon of it as you suggest.

  12. Hi there. I’m moving to Inverness from Glasgow, tomorrow in fact, and I’m planning to go see some NCL games and follow the league. I was hoping that someone could shed a little light for a newcomer to the league on who the teams to watch are and anything else worth knowing?

    cheers
