Worth noting that the last three times League of Ireland clubs played SPL teams in Europe, Bohemians knocked out Aberdeen (won at Pittodrie), Derry eliminated Gretna (also victorious away) and now Sligo have put out Motherwell (won at Fir Park).

Learnt about this forum as an occasional poster on Foot.ie, and coming from an area that is attempting to establish its own League of Ireland club, this thread seems the ideal place to ask about the Ross County experience in the Scottish League over the last three decades. Like Kerry, you're from an area that was traditionally isolated from the main centres of the national game, so what were the keys to your gradual progress up the league pyramid, and more importantly, how did you ensure it was self-sustaining? It certainly seems that local identity has been crucial to The Staggies.
