Not the only 100%ers. At the other end of the tables.

    Premier Division
14th Lothian Thistle HV (4 losses)
    15th Oakley United (3 losses)
16th Vale of Leithen (3 losses)

    First Division
    15th Rosyth (3 losses)
    16th Coldstream (3 losses)

    Second Division
    17th Newburgh (3 losses)
18th Hawick Royal Albert (4 losses)

No real surprises in the premier except the Tynie aren’t in that category.

Rosyth shouldn’t be in that position.

    FT Musselburgh Athletic 0-1 Tynecastle

A hugely disappointing result at Olivebank on Saturday. After picking up 4 points against Broxburn & Linlithgow Rose away, a win for the Burgh was essential for momentum, however they fell well short, particularly 2nd half.

I felt 1st half we were in control, hitting the woodwork twice from distance from O'Kane, but beyond that, never overly threatened Tynecastle's goal. Plenty possession but lacking that killer pass or offensive cohesion. Tynecastly looked dangerous too a couple of times with the long ball turning the Musselburgh defence, with DL in goals having to look sharp on one particular occasion.

The 2nd half saw an early goal for Tynecastle, capitalising on a defensive mistake from Burgh. That undoubtedly gave Tynie a lift as Musselburgh huffed and puffed trying get back into the game, using all 5 subs, but the boys in maroon saw it out comfortably and deserved their win.

As for Mussy, wow! Two awful home performances versus two very good away performances, yet with very similar personnel. 2 weeks of cup ties now, so maybe the manager will mix it up a bit and give what looked a strong bench yesterday in King, Knox, Smith, Jackson and in particular Fiddler, a chance!

Agreed, that’s not a bad bench to have available. I’d think many clubs would have most of these guys as first picks.

Winning away is always nice, Lithgae nae better or worse than most away wins.

Only time that we'd really put any more importance on a game is if it was against local rivals, Tranent, Nitten, Dunbar to a lesser extent probably top of the tree.

You can believe that Lithgae are all important to other clubs but it's no' true.

True enough,,very true. I can remember the Musselburgh vs Dunbar match last season.
I know what you mean regarding away win.

  6. What I’m clearly seeing within this division is a wide range of facilities.
Having visited several grounds in this league, it’s clear that several clubs have prioritised ground improvements, comfort and safety for those attending. Others clearly haven’t bothered in this respect.
It must be difficult to fund improvements - everything seems to be increasing in cost.
But there’s no getting away from the fact that facility wise, there’s a a lot of room for improvement(s).

I’m unsure of the SFA standards for admission, but the EoSFA seem to have set the bar fairly low. That’s probably to acknowledge that most clubs simply cannot afford to throw money around. The priority being the managers budget and ground improvements lagging way behind.

If I ever win the lottery I’ll happily spread some cash around.
I may play several more lines, but sadly I’m never  a winner…

You almost contradict yourself with your statement questioning the competitiveness then say they gave the big clubs a hard time.

The league was very competitive, hence the reason why so many teams were fighting for their lives in the final weeks of the season.

This league will prove to be similar, in my opinion.

Nah,,,, there’s the clubs who can win the league which comprised TJFC/LR and maybe Penicuik. Then there’s those that won’t ever win under current circumstances Jeanfield/Sauchie. Then there’s the ones that always hope for success - Mussy/Broxburn/HoBH. There were some clubs in transition of which I reckon DUFC/NS would be included within. Then there’s the strugglers Blackburn/Tynie/WW /LTHV/Camelon
I wouldn’t know where to put Crossgates probably in  a surprise group, Dundonald into a hard to beat group..
Don’t know if competitive is the best description - challenging may be better.
This season will be the same. There’s always leagues within leagues. If competitive is the correct word then I’m happy to use it.
However can’t see it being applicable to any Luncarty game so far - uncompetitive and one sided being more fitting.

All I know is every single point will require a lot of effort, skill and as always luck.
There’s always going to be half a dozen clubs challenging for promotion - that’s easy to see already.
it’s also clear that some clubs are competing in the race to the bottom.  Which will become a challenge to their survival. There’s also a couple of unlucky clubs who haven’t had the easiest of opening fixtures and are now locked into a challenge to escape the bottom placing. Pressure brings challenges which nobody can plan for.
it’s great entertainment for my £’s

Hopefully 22/23 will be a season without influence from external factors. 21/22 suffered from issues outwith clubs control. Planning, preparation and progress became a series of reactive measures, judgement calls and winging it scenarios. The teams with lesser resources undoubtedly suffered under these conditions.

Hopefully we won’t be seeing four clubs ever being relegated together again.

Think your memory must be playing tricks thinking you should have beat Penicuik  🫤

Nothing to do with memory,,, read the report.

At Penicuik, if they hadn’t subbed their best player at half time ,,, they were beaten.

At Dunbar there was very little in it.
If Penicuik were a title winning team - then myself and several hundred others didn’t appear to notice it…

Looks set up to be an interesting league, have taken in a few games this year and the standard of the games have been excellent.

Don’t know so much about the overall standard. But every team can do damage. There’ll be very many strange and unexpected results throughout the season.
21/22 seemed to be a two horse race between Leith and Haddington. It seems a bit more balanced this season.

Theres always going to be unexpected events that will take everyone by surprise. It’s these unforeseen circumstances that may have the biggest say.

Good start to the season from Dunbar.

Without being spectacular, they have got the points on the board which is the most important thing.

Whilst early, looking at the table, it looks like it will be a really competitive league, much like last season.

Don’t know about last season being competitive.

The best description I’ve read was “DUNBAR sleep walked into relegation”

Basically a season that become an underwhelming procession from Feb - May.

However gave the big clubs a hard time - should have beaten Penicuik, did beat Linlilithgow, drew with TJFC. The big cockups were at Linlithgow, Dundonald, Inverkeithing and Meggatland. That’s my assessment

Was at the Preston v Rosyth game today.

A red card for Rosyth midway through the first half ensured it would be a tough day for them. A deserved red; bit of a scuffle between players and then a punch aimed in the direction of a Preston player.

In fairness to Rosyth, they played well and had plenty of the ball and made a few chances, but two second half goals was too much for them to pull back!

No neutral linesmen at the day... the Rosyth chap running the line on one side was himself nearly sent off and needed a stern word or two from the ref to calm down after giving the ref pelters at both goals for not blowing for offside!

From my position, 1st goal looked onside.... 2nd looked tight!

Rosyth will take points from several of the more fancied clubs. Set piece free kicks anywhere around the box and they’ve got a guy who is deadly.

69 minutes on the clock actually. Where you at the game and can we ask.what team you actually support  if Dunbar are you new to going or just looking for a bite given  your title. Good to keep another clean sheet and pick up 3 points and sitting in a good position ,,keep it going.

40 odd seconds on the park. Goal for Grotlin. According to press. They could have reported it wrongly I suppose.

Disagree entirely regarding Gregory. Of the snippets I’ve seen, he looks he could be the difference. Never had a run of games at Musselburgh from what I believe, and provided he stays fit, hopefully that is something Dunbar can give him.

I think the defence will work itself out, not too worried about that. Have 4 very good CB’s, I’m which 2 can also play right back.

However, I do think they need another striker in. Just something different that will compliment Dawson and Edmond or an alternative.

It seems that your last para has just been addressed.
