    He didn't impede him, though.

Duk caused the contact, intentionally, then exaggerated it. And in doing that, he kicked the ball out for a goal kick.

to impede -delay or prevent (someone or something) by obstructing them; hinder.

"the sap causes swelling which can impede breathing"

Marshall didn't impede Duk. Duk had knocked the ball out for a goal kick, so there was nothing in the game he was impeded from doing, and he basically ran into Marshall to make himself fall over, so how can Marshall be blamed for his fall? There's pretty much no reading of the rules that will allow you to say that that's a foul. Marshall had the right to be where he was, and Duk chose to initiate the contact.

But like i said, football fans are subjective as f**k, and you are bending over backwards to try and justify a decision when it's obvious that the player cheated, and it's obvious how he cheated. It's not even an unusual thing to do. It'll happen all over Europe today.
The point is the naivety of professionals looking at it and being taken in by the con.

I'd bet every penny I have that if the decision last night had been a Hibs player doing that, you'd be posting in this thread agreeing with me.

I couldn't agree with this summation more. The dive initiates the contact! I don't understand how people don't get this.

Kenny Miller can talk for 5 minutes about a game without actually saying anything.

He offers no insight or analysis whatsoever.

He also completely misunderstood the last question he was asked about Ross County. He was asked about how crucial their game against Motherwell this week was, and he made a comment about Hibs.

  3. Really enjoyed my last two visits to ER (Rangers and Aberdeen games). Can't wait for Saturday. Early days obviously, but the last few weeks have been hugely encouraging, and we're getting our injured players back gradually. Changed days from the second half of last season, which was truly terrible both results and performance-wise.

Hoping for a big crowd on Saturday given our recent form and Sauzee's return. Will be a very tough game no doubt, but looking for three points.

Imagine how good it could get when McKirdy comes in and Nisbet is back!  The Josh miracle isn't finished yet either.

Could actually be a no bad season.  Oh aye McGeady too.

For all his doubters Hanlon back fit makes a big difference to the stability of the team.

Hopefully we can add a fit Magennis (and possibly Mitchell, although there's been no update on him for ages) to the mix too. We probably won't see Nisbet, Bushiri and McGeady until after the WC.
I'm with you, feeling a lot happier than I did a few weeks ago.  The next few games will tell us a lot. Ross Co [A], Motherwell [H], D Utd [A], Celtic [A], St J [H] and St Mirren [H] in October. We should be aiming to win all the home games, and pick up a few points away too. Of course, it doesn't always work out like that...

Can’t believe he broke so easily.

Didn’t soften my position, merely accepted I was factually incorrect when I quoted Goodwin, although I am fairly confident about what he was getting at. Just like you’re factually incorrect about Porteous’s three fouls. And the ref was also incorrect in not giving us at least two more pens on the day. Different incidents of course, but there you go.

Well yes of course he could, but, but, RPM said that Jim Goodwin said that Porteous dived, and the lovely Mr Goodwin didn't say that. Simples.

OK, I accept he didn't sat specifically say Porteous dived. So I apologise unreservedly for that. But he did accuse him of cheating. And no matter what you think of the decision, he didn't cheat. And all this is missing the point, which of course I'm sure you know. Goodwin's comments were outrageous and he has rightly been charged. As regards the penalty decision, I thought it was a pen in real time (and I was right in front of it), but having seen it back I'd call it contentious (not soft). I can see why it was given, but I'd be annoyed had it been given against my team. But then I was annoyed about the other two decisions we didn't get which I'm sure we can all agree were definitely penalties.

Not as much a dive as a blatant foul by Porteous as he dragged Scales to the ground.

Hmm, that's debatable. I do agree it was a soft penalty but sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't (as witnessed by the two blatant pens we didn't get in the same match).  The point is Goodwin claims Porteous "dived". He didn't. And the pile-on is completely ridiculous.
