Falkirk were good for Morrison and Morrison was good for Falkirk.

It will not have gone unnoticed to players today that are in Morrisons situation, 4 years ago how the club behaved and improved the player to move on to bigger things.

It was that reputation that made Vaulks chose Falkirk.

Well done to all involved and that includer Miller and McCracken who I think signed him

Falkirk also invested in Morrison when he had his knee surgery a couple of seasons back, made sure he saw the best people and may have saved his career. We do things the right way, and that will no doubt have helped make the decision to stay for a league and cup double easier.

  2. If Hamilton want to look at previous years as a foreshadow, they should be far more worried that they look like us last season...challenging at top but slipped behind a runaway leader after losing a crucial top of the table match at home, likely to finish second but then face a team who started slow but have picked up form later in the season and scoring goals for fun in the play offs.

  3. Look at the referee after the award...he clearly raises his arm in the same manner Burrels arm was raised to say it was given due to ball contacting a raised arm. Check Yeats's arm before and after the ball cannons off Burrels face. It's wrapped around the Cove defender, you can see the white sleeve pointing down before and after it goes out of shot. Clearly not been given against Yeats...Ref saw an arm go up, guessed it hit it and gave a penalty, cos why not...its Falkirk lolz...

  4. Given 2 league defeats on the spin, we need to arrest the slide so key to start this one well. Got caught cold last time at home against this lot, so energy and legs from the start i would say, maybe Yeats and Max as 2 holding, with Morrison and Kennedy/Nesbitt wider. I'd also like to see 2 up, maybe give Allen a run out with Oliver, with Burrell kept in reserve for when their legs are tiring.

  5. Hugely disappointing, especially given the run the team had been on, but yet again Dunfermline showed why they are going to win the league. Organised and disciplined at the back, and scrape goals from mistakes and set pieces. 3 games we've played against them and its been a penalty, 2 badly defended corners and a horrendous mistake thats cost us goals.

I still think we'll go up through play offs, but McGlynn has a job on his hands to lift the players again for the run in.

  6. I for one would be resting the key players for Dunfermline. McGinn needs a break, Henderson been carrying a rib injury for the last few weeks, so give Yeats a go in his preferred position along with Kuch. The whole front 3 realistically we could change without a significant drop in quality. I saw the problem with the Alloa game away more as a change of system than line up, the 4-4-2 with Yeats wide right and nisbett wide left never worked, and if you want to play anyone with a changed front line its Peterhead at home. Wright, Allan and Burrell did the business at Kelty, i'd be happy giving them another shot.

I imagine that the way McGlynn has transformed us, particularly over the last window, has caught us all by surprise. He’s building the squad so well we COULD go up as champions and challenge in the Championship next season.  No presumptions here btw, but we are definitely ahead of where any of us thought we’d be. Or even in our wildest dreams.

My view is we must support the management team, we’re on the cusp of something special here.

    So your almost there....

The budget McGlynn got this year was reliant the board budgeting for a £400k loss, which they hoped to make up through FSS/Patrons/additional revenue. That gap has been filled for this year, thankfully.

The board are however saying we cant keep doing this, therefore unless we can find a way of sustainably filling that 400k on an ongoing basis, we will need to cut budgets, and the only budget we can cut is the football budget as there is no money to be saved anywhere else. Therefore McGlynns budget for even a Championship tilt, would be less than this year for League One.

Nobody has ever said the FSS is a failure. Where does this come from? Have I missed something?

I think the consensus is more that its not failed, but the time frame required to build organically is something we can't really afford if we don't want the budget for McGlynn slashed next season (regardless of division by the way).

So trying to convert more season ticket holders into FSS/Falkirk Forever whatever it is is needed to get fan ownership on a sustainable even keel.

  9. Offside looks really tight, looks like their feet are level, but leaning opposite directions, so would only really know by the stupid VAR lines. Normally you see these decisions even out over a season, but we've had hee haw from refs all year. We're due a penalty every other game for rest of season for that to happen.

For the Kennedy McCabe altercation, was i shouting for a red, absolutely. Did i expect one? Not a chance.

  10. Can't believe theres been criticism of a board trying to think outside the box and come up with a way of creating a sustainable fan owned model. As i understand it, the new scheme will create a more tiered approach to the FSS, will bring extra benefits, and the additional funds over and above the Season ticket income can all be ring fenced and applied to the football budget, so first team, building the academy, all the things the fans want to be better.

We have 2200 ST holders (or thereabout) and 600 odd FSS members...if we can convert even half of the ST holders not signed up then we instantly close the funding gap that we've been running with for years.

If we found a way of converting existing ST holders and other fans into the new scheme with additional benefits, surely everyones a winner.

As it stands more Falkirk fans travelled to Wick than have joined FSS...if we want the fan ownership model to work then we need to back it.

  11. The problem of the loan market is more you get clubs stockpiling players, with no intention of ever playing them in first team, just trying to eek out loan fees and transfer fees. Got worse i think since the ugly sisters have been allowed to have teams in Lowland leagues.

Get those teams to fk, and limit number of players a team can loan out, and problem solved.

Apologies for being a bit late to the party, but I've  been up North all day and am just starting to catch up on P&B. I have nothing on the Donaldson tackle as there were players in the way and I was at the other end of the pitch. However, for the Clyde red card this is the moment of impact.

Hendo wins the ball and the Clyde player is a fraction of a second late. I don't have any pics of the challenge before this one so can't say if it was intentional, but it looks harsh for a straight red.

Never easy to tell how bad a challenge is from a still...from the above you can't tell if the motion of the foot is forward (red card) or downwards as if to pull out the challenge(yellow). For me neither of the challenges on Saturday were red cards...just another example of referees in charge of games that have no knowledge of how football is played, but once he's shown red to Donaldson, he had to show red for this. Consistent, just consistently wrong.

Absolutely. The so called “gap” is only till the end of this season. Looking for a bit more stability in terms of finances for next season.

I would also hope future budgets are dictated by playing in higher divisions where the cash really is. It’s no surprise teams like St Johnstone can play at this level based on paltry attendances (plus a sugar daddy owner, although it will be interesting to see what the future holds for them).

PS the Mogwai track is Ritchie with a “t” :)

Attention to detail was never my speciality

  14. My understanding is that the board are keen to try and ensure the club is not only in a sustainable position this year, but next year and beyond.

As a fan-owned club, if that is to work, means the income generated by the club every year needs to be able to sustain the outgoings, and all needs to come via the fans. If we all still want the same things...a competitve first team, growing the academy again, then all that needs to be funded by us as the owners, whether thats via FSS, Patrons or individuals buying more shares, 10 year tickets, hospitality, etc etc.

Saying 'the gap is filled' suggests theres no need for more investment...the truth is if we want to grow the club, even if we do get promotion, then investment is still needed as the 'gap' needs to be filled every year.
