  1. Looks like Malky has lost the team too. A lot of problems, but it isn't all down to the manager (although it inevitably falls at his feet). Recruitment/scouting has been a shambles. Panic recruitment early on hasn't done us any favours.

Outwith being overly kind, what the f**k is going on with our formation, personally and overall tactics/gameplay? Long ball football doesn't work for us. There is no plan B.

    P.S.

Can we just play East Fife every week?

    Based on what evidence?

Last year showed that he built a team that stumbled its way into a play-off incapable of competing with Premiership opposition. We have already had a gubbing off Motherwell this season and stumbling along in the league again (early doors or otherwise). Nothing to show any improvement, to increase expectations of fans and show that he has the management knowledge to change tactics and provide a dynamic platform for success.

We will make the play-offs again I'm pretty sure but, is that success or just papering over the vast cracks around the club that are appearing?

Maybe I should have phrased that differently.

    I think he's doing a grand job.

People who refuse to acknowledge any criticism of Billy Gilmour and those who seem desperate for him to fail, arguing of who is the bigger oddball.

    100%

He has been touted as a bit of a saviour for the national team after a few very good performances. Brighton have a strong midfield so it may take an injury to one of their starters to get him on from the kick off. He can prove himself, needs time.

Poor crack seeing Scots behaving like Ingloids and piling the pressure on the boy.

We have a lot of talent for out national team....even McBurnie is scoring!!

    😬😬

The jury is still out on Dodds for me.  He does seem to be willing to make an early change which is in steep contrast to almost every other manager we've ever had (it was rare for Butcher or Brewster to make a change before the 85th minute!).  He does seem quite tactically naive though - we seem to want to try to play good football and it's common that we start games that way before the opposition wakes up after ten minutes and we then resort to constant long balls.  If we go behind it's panic stations - one game last season we ended playing 3-2-5!  Other times it seems like he hasn't realised that tactics have moved on since he was a player.  We started last season playing a 4-2-4 (yes, a 4-2-4!) but gradually last season and this it's become more like a 90s-style 4-4-2 with punts down the wings for fast players to run onto.  It's sooooo 1998.

We've needed another midfielder for ages and another right back since Rooney left two years ago - there's no natural right back in the squad whatsoever.  Instead we're top heavy with centre-backs and forwards.

I'm not joining the chorus of people calling for Dodds to go yet but I could be soon but it will be with some degree of resignation that I have absolutely no faith in the board to replace him effectively.  Caley Thistle have always been a jobs-for-the-boys outfit but all that changes is whose boys it is.  The current Gardner/Robertson regime (when they aren't busy telling sob stories and blowing a million on Duran Duran) is the cliquiest board we've ever had.  If Dodds goes his replacement will be someone like Gary Locke, John 'Bomber' Brown or some other jobber.

I think Dodds will pull it together. Early days this year and will put a run together. No team looks like running away with it.

Thank you for the pitch invasion, it was a little cringy to watch and getting a goal against our defence isn't exactly difficult but those extra minutes added at the end made the equaliser all the sweeter, cheers.

    1 arrest? Or just ejected?

Not as bad as Utd but still, all that to then gift us a goal. Thought Aberdonians were tight?

We’re several games in now and the squad is certainly getting to the settled status. What is the general opinion on recruitment this season? Good? Bad? Undecided?

For me personally, I am a big fan of Edwards and Olaigbe. Think they both have bags of potential: quick but also sharp, technically smart as well but most importantly they both look more than willing to put in hard graft. Purrington looks a steady find too, the type of player you’ll get a 7/10 from every week. Once Randall gets himself back in I think that’s a right good back 4 as I’m not quite sold on Johnson yet. I think the majority of the rest though I’m undecided on. Players like Akio, Hiwula and Dhanda have shown glimpses but not enough to warrant a start each match.

    Sold on:

    Laidlaw, Iacoveti, Randall, Callaghan, Edwards.

Maybe Purrington but not sure he is a left back 🤷🏽‍♂️

Other than that I think we need a bit more quality.

Great getting loads of loan players but Johnston, Harmon, Akio, Loturi etc haven't shown much.

Not sure what Malky thought process was in picking that starting 11 no width no pace, two sitting midfielders at home against any team (other than the ugly sisters) is not what I signed up for.

The back four were excellent today haven’t been convinced by Purrington but decent performance today.

I’m sorry but I’m not a fan of Tillotson always off the pace, I think Jan Dhanda might be the new Martin Woods good in parts but never going to put a shift in.

Edwards and Akio must start next week.

Purrington looks like a good Kenny. Gets forward, but not always back.

Dhanda looks good if he gets space.

I've never been sold on White but he pops up now and then, we need someone reliable up front. Is that Akio?

Hopefully one of the Dons fans on the park got themselves a blade of grass to make it worthwhile ;)

All pish patter aside though, it was a tight game that Aberdeen probably edged but for all their pressure I don’t think they had too many clear cut chances other than Besuijen in the first half unless my mind is failing me. I swear to god though, if we don’t go 433 and take the game to Motherwell next week I think I’ll cry. We had all our pace and creativity sat on the bench today.

Laidlaw, Purrington, Watson, Iacovetti, Baldwin, Callaghan, Loturi, Cancola, Simms, Akio, Edward.

A sickener to lose a goal in the 95th minute with the last kick.

Ross County are a Highland league team though.
Foul, long ball, foul, long throw, foul etc.

Horrible team, but we should defend that better. Kennedy had a fresh air swipe at the ball that should’ve cleared it

A Highland League team?! We hammered Buckie Thistle 1-1 then destroyed them on penalties in the group stages of the cup!!
