  1. I can see it now the S.I.C.K. [ self interest cally klubs ] patting themselves in the back especially the dinosaurs at giffnock and cambusbarron with  " I told you so " attitude so when you read this ask yourself  are you really interested in saving saturday afternoon football or is it we dont give 2 f *** s about it  as we are ok and if you want to come and join us your welcome if this is the case what was wrong with the full amalgamation of all the Leagues its the same at the end of the day apart from you kept your precious  cally name

As for the Drums dunipace st pats and campsie all two faced as I attended the meeting you all voted to join the scottish amateur but I suppose the S.I.C.K name will be to you understanding

I know this will come across as a bitter post but more of frustration of what could have been

With Castlemilk and not Lesmahagow folding, it means there will be no relegation from top flight in Scottish premier. Means a lot of meaningless games already as really it’s a 2 horse race now between St Pats and Bannockburn.

just like your league then with Dumbarton and Doune sharing in the last few years with the occasinally blip

Because they were cheated out of the opportunity to win the Central Scottish League.

the usual pish from Crazy Feet re the new league, yet completely silent on the shambles end to the cally premier league when 2 teams failed to show for the games v Doune Castle shortchanging the players from that club to have the moment to clinch the League on the park rather that 6pts before the final game v St Joes

As I said before the head PR man for that League

I don't think amlgamating all of the league solves anything. The biggest issue nowadays is a higher percentage of players don't want to give up their full Saturday Afternoon every single week to play amateur football.

Times have changed and there isn't the same number of players coming through the ranks who have football on a Saturday Afternoon as their Number 1 priority anymore. There is a reason the Saturday Morning League is prospering and getting stronger every year but the top afternoon leagues are going the opposite way.

These amalgamations are just shuffling the deck on the Titanic imo.

yes i totally agree the times have changed thats why a almagamation is a way forward as the saying goes "we are all singing from the same hymn sheet " we have to form a pyramid system within the saturday afternoon leagues that allows teams to find there own level and within that system and we then move forward with a regionalized divisions outwith the premier set up

I do agree saturday afternoon is heading the way of the Titanic but surely we must do something rather than the current arrangement

Not really like for like quality wise and it's stuff like this thats makes it understandable the likes of Drum Ams have decided to jump ship.

You wonder what the likes of Bannockburn, Lesmahagow and Gartcosh etc are thinking now.

crazy feet I take it you have some connections to the caledonian league as you are constantly blowing the trumpet for that league and most of your posts are all negatives re the algamation of the 2 leagues

yes drum ams are a decent side to lose but the others joining the cally are not really done much in the big stage dunipace cant get out of the 2nd division if they were still memebers alva are just a flash in the pan stenhousmuir just bounce in and out every year and for giffnock well we will wait and see.

surely you should be asking what we can do to stop the amateur game getting raided by the wos league and if we all joined up like we were trying to do we could get put together a stratedgy to work with the wos in a pyramid type system but hey ho the dinosaurs of the cally and ggpl took a self interest approach and stopped that

no doubt you will give me some sort of negative reply

Just saw the Cali have announced Giffnock SC and Dunipace joining next season. Add that to Alva, Riverside, Drumchapel and Stenhousemuir next seasons 1st Div should be a cracker. Heard no teams leaving the Cali so going by their website its 12 team Premier and 16 team 1st Div. That's strong. They've effectively taken 2 teams from Central Premier, arguably best teams in GGPL and Stirling & District. Decent going. Central taking in good sides from SAFL although taking in 15 teams to get 2 decent ones seems like just going for numbers tbh

And the cally is not doing likewise what have those teams that have been taken in done to make you class tham as top sides ? apart from the drum

And if its a 16 team league good luck trying to get that finished next season if those teams are meant to be top sides therefore a run in the national or district cups would be expected and 30 league games no chance

I reckon the cally are now showing their true colours considering that a member of their executive initially started the almagamation talks, so they have now decided to go it alone and get the struggling saturday afternoon leagues in the central belt to fold and leaving the clubs left limited choice rather than do the correct move and form a pyramid with all the central belf leagues.  I AM ALRIGHT JACK ACTION

I think it looks like The Central are just bringing teams in for money / to get the numbers up rather than looking to improve the quality of the league.

How many of the teams joining from the SAFL are established clubs with top facilities etc? How many of them will come over and compete in the Premier League?

If the rumours are true around other central clubs then it looks like a bad move. But I guess the Central's loss will be The Caley's gain.

You are not getting it crazy feet the idea was safegaurd existing leagues not to get one over the other which is why the leagues like the stirling and saf have demised badly

More to follow from The Central? This merger looking like a horrendous move by the Central League.

Why is it ?  at the meeting the clubs voted on it and even the club leaving were in attendance, the move was sold on the basis to combat the threat coming from The west of scotland League, and to stop the demise of long established league like the stirling but now it looks the threat is more from existing league who are just promoting amateur football within there own bubble

The Central is the stongest amateur league and will be a little stronger with the Amateur league clubs coming in next season.

What is making top division clubs leave? It cannot be for a better standard of football - so what is it?

Selfishness  in my view like the club leaving who came to the Central after taken the huff with the Cally executive a few years ago and other dinosaurs clubs in the Caledonian League not wanting to change and try to save the Saturday afternoon football in other words looking after themselves which is Scottish football in a nutshell

After hearing the rumours over the weekend about the amalgamation idea for a few amateur leagues I needed to find out more! BECAUSE IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN . So I've had a read throughout this thread and see there's people happy, people not happy so on...

The reality is clubs are folding every season at a rapid rate, clubs give it ago and fold during the season as we've all seen. Someone said it on here which was spot on, covid has changed attitudes and priorities which i don't have a problem with we need to be able to adopt to change. Also the price of playing amateur football now must be at a record high surely?? Councils charging a fortune now for parks/facilities also kills clubs as the overall cost per person rises (club numbers dependant)

We need to move on collectively and get some sort of amalgamation for next season sorted if possible.

Surely Central/Caley/Safl and Stirling (if they are interested) can sit down and form a plan? Or put forward a couple of purposels for every club in each league to vote on.

That would be the sensible solution but we were told the other 3 Leagues were not up for it for reasons unknown, considering the idea was to form a pyramid system for the central belt saturday afternoon football it surely would have good for all and form a pathway to the west of scotland  seniors if a club wishes to head in that direction

the paper that was present at our meeting last night was 11 clubs from central and 3 from safl would form the premier next season with the others creating a championship of 10 teams each section

the following season premier down to 12 teams then championship of 12 and a division one of 10 teams

Amalgamation plans now binned. Perhaps discussions in the future when it gets even worse/too late.

My understanding is the plans are not binned at our meeting a fortnight ago we were told that the talks will now continue with other leagues as the cally were not playing ball

Stirling & District would count as an EoS League (Dunipace, Sauchie, Camelon, Syngenta all in the EoS). The majority of the league would be EoS if they turned senior.

Biggest losses from 2014 - 2022 (numbers are the latest I found a few weeks ago, already a few clubs folded during the season)

    Midlands: 53 - 12

    Scottish AFL: 52 - 15

    Stirling: 45 - 11

    Lothians: 73 - 46

    Aberdeenshire: 85 - 59

    Ayrshire: 57 - 37

    Strathclyde Churches: 40 - 21

Glasgow & District Saturday Morning: 31 - 0 (although some will have joined the Saturday Morning League which is the only league to have expanded over the past few years)

    Paisley: 28 - 0

    West of Scotland: 20 - 0

    Lanarkshire: 20 - 0

I see you forgot to mention 2 other Leagues The Cally from 38 to 22 And our League Central from 40 to 22 and I heard a rumour Goldenhill have folded so that would make it 21

  13. Your right and wrong crazy feet the amalgamation was discussed with the 3 Leagues you mention and The SAFL and was very positive so a 2nd meeting was arranged which The GGPL never appeared [ so my guess is they were not interested ] again very positive and a excellent proposal  was produced by a member of the Cally League.

This was based along the lines of Leagues in the Central belt [ Stirling AFL was to be invited ] would form a super league made up of the top 6 from the Cally / Central with a championship below made up of the rest from the Cally / Central top divison and 2 from The SAFL then 3 feeder leagues of the rest of the clubs from all the other divisions.

The idea was to try and save Saturday afternoon amateur football and combat the threat from the West Of Scoland League.

Alas after all the hard work done by the proposer its been binned due to my opinion self interst and dinosaurs within certain Committees
