  1. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/spfl/shiels-future-in-doubt-157916n.23845340 So, Rae comes out in the paper slating his own manager's performance, and more or less accusing him of fluffing his way through the interview. Shiels wont last the season after that I wouldn't think.
  2. Been offered a ticket to Augsburg v Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday night. It would be rude not to really.
  3. I misread, turns out they played a couple of games against their Indian Ocean neighbours Mauritius in 2012, I think in the pre-qualification for the African Nations Cup qualifiers, but lost 2-0 on aggregate. I have no idea, I don't think that Gibraltar has any world ranking points as yet. Comoros are in 198th place, just above world powerhouses Andorra.
  4. He was born in France, but both of his parents are from the Comoros Islands. They are not full Fifa members I don't think, and I saw that they've not played a game in 2 and a half years.
  5. I would be interested to know how a friend of yours would know what was going on in Douglas Rae's head regarding our new manager. Wasn't Caldewood already in a job in Holland by the time that we made the decison anyway? Quick check of wikipedia says no, he got the job at De Graafschap in January, but quit after a month. I do think that Shiels made a couple of changes too many. You can't change 8 squad members in January and expect them to go out on the pitch, half of which have hardly played in a year, and get instant results. It's almost like we are going through a mini pre-season right now, with so many guys trying to get their fitness up. It was a huge gamble, and it looks like it's not going to pay off.
  6. The way that the Jailend was converted to seating was only semi-permanent, right? So in theory they could just remove the metal steps and the terrace will still be underneath, meaning that all they would need to do would be replace the crush barriers? It's a no-brainer to me, make it happen. It would make Victoria Park pretty much the perfect small ground.
  7. From the bbc website rumours section today: Ross County chairman Roy MacGregor is keen on the reintroduction of standing areas and thinks it will improve the atmosphere at games. (Daily Record) Any chance of the Jailend returning to standing? I'm sure that lots of County fans would be all for it.
  8. I read on the official site that the club are inviting applicants with the 'relevant experience'. I do the washing in my house, does that make me qualified? I can safely say that not once have I shrunk anything, or let a rogue red sock sneak into the white wash, turning everything pink.
  9. Kabba-Modou Cham has left the club by mutual consent. He scored 3 goals in 13 appearances this season, plus a double as Morton won the Renfewshire Cup back from St Mirren. Best of luck for the future Kabba, it just hasn't worked out.
  10. I just posted this on the Morton forum in response to the same question...
  11. I was in a hotel on West 35th Street when I was in New York last year. Location wise it's spot on, more or less slap bang in the middle of Manhattan with excellent Metro links around you. http://www.hotelmetronyc.com/ - Has a very cool rooftop terrace , with the Empire State Building practically towering over you.
  12. No idea why the move hasn't materialised, but we've only got Barrie McKay (19) and the boy Findlay from Celtic who is 18 on loan so his age can't be the reason.Maybe he's been approached by a premiership club?
  13. The move has fallen through, looks like he's not coming after all.
  14. Combined transfer fees paid for Morton's new strikeforce = £8.35million edit - that will be transfer fees paid in their careers, not by Morton, before some smart arse comes along trying to be funny.
  15. Nope, he agreed to come in and train with us, and then didn't turn up because he's apparently been offered a chance to sign for Antwerp in Belgium. Didn't even have the courtesy to let Kenny Shiels know that he wasn't coming after all, despite all his bleating to the media about not being given a chance by anyone. Compare his attitude to that of Garry O'Connor, who trained for 2 weeks before signing, and has only had good things to say, while taking full blame for the failures in his career. I don't think that we're missing out on anything.
  16. Is he fit? I don't think I've seen him in the St Mirren team for quite a while.
  17. Is this the stand that was sinking in one corner? As you look at the stand, it does appear to slope off to the right. I suppose that it was propped up in some way to prevent it sinking further?
  18. Thjose pictures of the east terrace at Easter Road are superb, must have been excellent watching them game from there when it was full. The redeveloped Easter Road is my favourite ground in the country, and if you could get those corner filled in a bit it would be even better. The old shed at Rugby Park looks excellent also, kind of like the cowshed at Cappielow only bigger. Must have been a tremendous atmosphere in there.
  19. Morton have signed Jack Smith, who apparently played 3 games as a trialist for you guys this season. How did he do?
  20. Confirmation in today's Greenock Telegraph that Tomas Peciar and Michal Habai have both left the club, we have signed Celtic u19s captain Stuart Findlay on loan until the end of the season, and Derek Riordan is now training with the club. Very surprised to see Peciar leave, but it appears that he has asked to be released rather than being told to go.
  21. I see that East Fife have signed Kevin Rutkiewicz. On paper that's an excellent signing, he was really good at Morton last season.
  22. Kenny Shiels has apparently been advised by his doctor not to handle post-match press conferences. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25666800
  23. If Robertson does sign, he'll be the second son of a former player in our squad. His dad, Dougie Robertson, played for us in the 80s in the Premier League, and David McNeil's dad John did the same.
