There were nine players on the bench today - one goalkeeper, five defenders, one attacking midfield player and two strikers. Thanks, Marijn, and your enablers. Hope you're having a swell time at Ajax.

Mind you, as others have said, it isn't a get out of jail free card for some of the decisions made by CD of late but he has been dealt a pretty shitty hand.

Who were the strikers on the bench ?

It all stems back from the utter calamity Beuker placed the club with his moronic recruitment policy last summer. January window you can only do so much and Davidson has done a decent job with the limited time to create a team that’s remotely competent at championship level. With Thomas injured, McPherson crocked, it means your turner’s, longridge are undroppable despite form due to a lack of quantity and quality on the bench. You lose longridge at right back and it’s Mauchin who plays, who for me doesn’t look ready at this level at all yet. Take turner and you’ve got…Mckinstry? Carse ? We simply get weaker

We have to get to summer as a championship club. It may have to be through the play offs. Give Davidson a full summer to bin players and add his own guys and I’m confident next season will be a lot better. Issue is getting through this season with zero consequences 😕

Davidson brought in journey men, who after the honeymoon period have been poor.

Bannon & Tizzard are simply not good enough….Wilson thinks he is Franco Baresi with the long floaty balls.

Get Charlie Fox back in there and get Thomson back into midfield

That was an absolute disgrace from a Queen’s Park perspective. Turner’s clearly chucked it. Carse looked like a lost boy. Tizzard over Robson or Bannon? Was he serious?

Tactics were all wrong, deciding to pioneer a new style of football where we don’t tackle was a random one. Failing to press anything was an interesting one too. Also, why are we chucking long balls at McLeish/Williamson, two slight guys?

Inverness deserved the victory, I’m only amazed it wasn’t by more. I’m starting to really understand the warnings of St Johnstone fans when Davidson was first appointed.

On the plus side, at least we still get away days to Arbroath.

Bannon has been atrocious, he is worth a goal a game….we need better than that.

Has Danny Wilson been any better than a fit Charlie Fox.

We need a goal and Davidson takes your striker and outball off.

Think you're wrong about McLeish, there's a striker in there and remember he's been out for months injured...Really don't think some of our 'fans' are cut out for supporting a club with a tradition of developing young players. Jack Thomson got pelters early in his QP career and now Cammy Bruce 🤬 sure he wasn't great today but what age is he FFS? He offers more threat and ability to get to the bye line than Josh Scott whose obviously got other qualities and Bruce's goal at Starks Park is up there with one of our goals of the season...

To be honest with the current position that we find ourselves in…”there’s a striker in there” isn’t exactly what we are looking for……..we need someone to come on who will make an impact or at least at some point in a game be in a position to have a shot at goal. Scott Williamson is a better option for the last 10 min, maybe not great but a more natural striker.

  5. The abuse that young Cammy Bruce was getting when he was getting brought on from the fans around me was shocking.

I was more concerned when McLeish and McKinstry got brought on yet again. What is Mcleish’s position, shown nothing in all the times that he has been brought on and runs about like a headless chicken….he is never a centre forward.

The less said about McKinstry the better

It's really not my fault that your Govanhill Gretna outfit have thrown the kitchen sink at being a real Championship club, only to end up having all your lunch money being effortlessly collected from you by Sir Douglas and his bunch of cast-offs aasembled into an actual football team yet again.

Punctured your nauseating 'fairy tale' last season with victory after victory and now 6/6 league games without defeat.

Get back in your fucking box* then.

If there was any responsible stewardship at your club, then you wouldn't have been trying to import a gubbins, 'total football philosophy' from the Netherlands and failing to build your ground in the first place.

That ship sailed a wee while ago - I'm not convinced there's going to be a backup option.

Obviously your club is going places after years and years in the abyss with the perfect manager at the helm 🙈🤔

Yup, I think the next few weeks will likely indicate the plan, if there is one.  A new manager and squad strengthening in January would be a welcome sign that there's likely some attempt to stay in the league whilst a continuation of the last few months will obviously mean we're heading back to L1 with the full backing of Dumpster and Haughey.  If that's the case I can't see Dom Thomas hanging around, especially if we can get some coin for him.  Worthwhile holding onto Ferrie, McKenna, Turner, Thomson, Spong and potentially Paton, but the rest I'm guessing we could easily move on.

A bit harsh on Bruce, Reid & Bannon….our own, with good futures if nurtured properly, they have been left exposed recently by the dross around them

Spong Is a fantastic wee player.

I "player cammed" him for about ten minutes during the Raith match and he reminded me of Paul Lambert.

I know I know calm down but he's that type of player.

Simple gives and then make yourself available again if an out ball is required.

He's also an excellent tackler, not just removing possession but retaining it too.

He seems just a wee bit short of pace, I haven't seen him run very fast, or maybe his excellent positional awareness doesn't require him to be busting a gut.

He's my current favourite Queens' player, by quite a wee way.

Never a Wee Davie Anderson though

This…but also if you watch the first Raith goal its both Robson and Fox who don’t defend well that leads to that too.

I even wonder if the substitutions are an easy target. Had Veldman kept McPherson and Dom Thomas on the pitch and the same result happens then he’d have been lambasted for not managing the game properly aswell.

RV is of course ultimately responsible for the game management, but if we are looking objectively 2 of the 3 goals are down to poor defensive play by Robson and Fox, who played the full 90.

    It’s all about opinions though!

Academy boys Lewis Reid and Alex Bannon have been our best pairing over the last month. The build up is so much better and creates more chances from the fullbacks.

They will get better and better, although with Fox one of the big names and Tizzard a loanee signing they will end up playing more than most.

We were battering Raith and should have kept the same players on and kept our foot on their throat. Instead we take off key players, change shape, and in the last five mins end up  looking like pub team that has met for the first time that day.

I understand what you are saying and I agree with you. The point that I was trying to make was that if we had taken or chances and with better decision making then the game would have been finished long before the subs came on.

I don't think Veldman signed any of these players. His job is to coach and develop them in to better players as part of a cohesive team playing a contemporary style of football. He also needs to be mindful of the commitments made to players when they signed for us. And looking at the subs list below who would you have put on that you would be happy not to call children?

    • 7Hepburn
    • 14Healy
    • 15Tizzard
    • 16Bruce
    • 22Reid
    • 27Jarrett
    • 28McCormick
    • 31Kane
    • 33Mauchin

Regardless of there age, the last few games have shown that a couple are more than capable to play at this level and will go on to have good careers in the game at a much higher level.

Although as fans, we don’t care what age they are……we just want to win games.

We’re the fourth top scorers in the league. We have the leakiest defence in the league. Our number 9 is the joint top scorer in the league.

We have the leakiest defence in the league because it is changed every other week, we were undefeated and looking a lot better over the last 3 weeks and it is changed yet again today.

The chances that we miss is chronic
