  1. Evening all. In the very fortunate position to be interviewing Dick Campbell himself next week for my podcast “Today Wheelenterview”.

I’d love to get you all involved as much as possible, so are there any questions you would like me to put to the gaffer himself, or any issues you would like me to bring up? Very happy to share the finished article when it’s out. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t buzzing for it!

Listened to it. His departure from Berwick bears no resemblance to what I heard at the time.

Won't say any more as I may have been misinformed, and it's all irrelevant now anyway.

If you don't mind me asking mate, what was the sentiment at the time? I'm genuinely curious as I'm not a Berwick man myself, interested to know what you guys all thought back then. Regardless, I'm happy I could shed a wee bit of light on it for you all from the man himself.

  3. Evening all. You may only be enthusiastic about a percentage of the episode, however I recently spoke to current East Stirlingshire manager, and one-time Berwick man, Pat Scullion. As expected, we discussed his emergency loan that led to him signing permanently. He spoke a wee bit about how the club was doing at the time and the manager himself! Here's the link if you're interested, may be even more beneficial now as it's basically an hours worth of free homework on a rival Lowland League manager! ⬇️

  4. Evening all. I'd be doing you all a disservice by not sharing it, however I recently spoke to current East Stirlingshire manager, and numerous-time Cowdenbeath man, Pat Scullion. As expected, we discussed your club more than the others, and it was interesting to hear about Cowden from three different eras. Personally, I'd love to know what you guys were doing to him on the basis he kept coming back! Hopefully see the Blue Brazil back up where they belong soon. 5. Hi all, many sympathies to you all for a goalless draw this afternoon. I couldn't find the Peterhead supporters anywhere P&B so I'll make it short and sweet. I'm interviewing one half of the Peterhead management duo in Jordon Brown the week after next for my podcast Today Wheelenterview, and I want to get as many of you involved as possible.

Asking supporters' questions has worked a charm so far on the show, so is there anything you would like me to ask directly to him, or have you any insights at all into his tenure at the club to better the interview as a whole. Stenny fans, feel free to get involved, would be rude to leave you out. Happy to share it in your next matchday thread, we're on both Spotify and Apple. Wish both of your teams the very best for the rest of the season!

  6. Evening all. If all goes to plan I will be interviewing your very own Pat Scullion very soon for my podcast, Today Wheelenterview. In order to really maximise the value and entertainment of the show, I want to ask if there are any questions you would like me to put to the gaffer, or any insights/topics you would like me to cover? This has worked a charm getting the supporters involved in the show, ultimately this is an episode for you! We're on Spotify and Apple if you'd like to check the show out. Best of luck versus the Braves tomorrow!

    Echoed all the above @charliewheelen

Great interview & insight into not only DY's career, thoughts, idea's & ambitions, remembering he's doing this as a PT job & still having another job outside of football, you can see & hear is love of the game. His self belief that he can go on & have a crack at FT management... something i dont want to think about at the moment for selfish reasons as I'm loving the impact he's having on my club & the pleasure of following the team, that 3pm buzz never gets boring watching Pab's lead the team out, testament to the job he's doing along with his backroom staff 👏

Ready to go again on Saturday at NDP @SA45 it will be same formation on Saturday...we will be playing 4-5-1 formation 👍

I've loved seeing how much you all admire and love Darren, something I've been very fortunate to have seen with the others I have interviewed. I seem to pick and choose well! Great testament to your club who I'm incredibly proud to have brought a wee bit closer to the supporters. Gutted I can't make it down the road to Hamilton as a wee thank you, Do you know if the club will have any more midweek fixtures this season, or is that them done for now?

    Great stuff @charliewheelen.

Well done to those that got their questions read out. I though I might get a mention in the tactics section but alas only Pep & Klopp 😀. So, it looks like 4-1-4-1 (defending) and 4-3-3 (attacking.) Don't worry though Darren, I won't over complicate the tactics board.

I admire his ambition and his vast playing experience will stand him in good stead if he goes FT. Dunfermline perhaps? Obviously if he does well, so do Albion - same with players - and they move on to the next level.

I had lost track of what we had already indirectly covered 😅 I did like his Ebbe Skovdahl tactical chat though, that was eh interesting. Glad you enjoyed it anyway though mate. I do reckon soon enough he'll be up into at least the Championship soon, but I don't envision him pulling a Brendan Rodgers any time soon. Think that's the best way to look at it, if he gets a move it means Stirling have done well as it's a reflection of his work. Just a guy looking to move up the corporate ladder eh. Glad I could help you all get to know the man himself a wee bit better!

echo all of that. i just finished listening to it myself as well. Even got my question in.

You got some really interesting stuff there and the 90 minutes absolutely flew by for me.

i'd be surprised if we get more than another season with Darren Young sadly. i think he's certainly got the ability to be a full time manager and that a good opportunity will come sooner rather than later.

    fantastic work @charliewheelen

It was a marathon of a chat for me, I've only had one interview go beyond an hour with Stuart Hunter at Bo'ness, but it was worth it. My long suffering Queen's Park supporting pal said he'd have been after Darren to fill Veldman's vacancy, but he's far from complaining with Davidson. Can't say enough good things about your manager, just savour him while you can! I'm delighted you enjoyed it mate, and I hope you'll enjoy any future interviews if that's up your street!

Another excellent interview, a really really good listen and well done to Darren for being so open as well, such an easy guy to chat too.

Interesting that he still has ambitions to manage Full Time (and surprising he’s never had the opportunity too), that he was getting pelters from a section of East Fife supporters and a few interesting points last season (forgot about the Dumbarton Chairman’s remark) along with his playing days…..admired his honesty again talking about his injuries at Dundee and signing for Alloa.

Excellent listen, and as sad as I would be, I really hope Darren can fulfil his ambition and be offered a Full Time job eventually, his a fantastic lower league manager and genuinely one of life’s good guys. Again, well done.

I was saying that to my dad the other night, how open and honest about his situations at clubs without coming across as negative. Maybe it was because we're essentially from the same neck of the woods, but Darren, like all of the other superb guests, was a pleasure to chat with. Very easy talker like you say, and I definitely learned, and laughed, a lot. Most importantly though I'm delighted to let you all get to know your gaffer a wee bit more, bridging the gap one interview at a time eh! Thanks very much for the kind words mate, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  11. It’s here and it’s beautiful Binos. Had a blast recording last nights interview with your gaffer. Funnily enough, we indirectly answered nearly all of your questions during the interview, however, don’t worry as we have the others in there as well. After hearing what he had to say, I’ve got to say you’ve got a good yin with Darren, I’ve no doubt after a solid conclusion to this season, the next is going to get even better with Young at the wheel.

it was nearly a 90 minute chat, but I promise you’ll enjoy listening as much as I did chatting to him. Share it around as i’d love nothing more than for all of you to hear your manager in a more laid-back setting, and get to know him a wee bit more. Wish you all the best for the rest of the season, and if I myself have charmed you enough, there’s more good chats coming on the page!

  12. Evening all, a wee bit of a last minute one here. I'm looking forward interviewing your former manager Darren Young on Monday in the latest episode of my podcast "Today Wheelenterview" and I want to get as many supporters connected to him as possible.

That being said, are there any questions you would like me to pose to him, or any stories or insights to share that will benefit my preparation and help me understand the context of the situation in Coatbridge during his reign from your own perspective in the stands? I've loved having supporters' questions feature and they've worked a charm so far. All the best for the rest of the season, and hopefully we see Rovers back in the SPFL where they belong soon!

I've loved having supporters' questions feature and they've worked a charm so far. Congrats on the huge win today and hope Big Dick can lead a playoff charge! All the best

P.S. My dad is a Glenrothes-born lifelong Fife fan, remembers seeing a teenage David Beckham in Methil many moons ago!

Thanks mate. Graham here I help out here and there with the pods usually quitongo corner cover the championship, hopefully have more free time next season.

Davie done the interview and he did say how lovely a bloke Stewart was to speak to.Also on the back of him mentioning his grampa grew up and was a Montrose fan Stewart arranged a couple of tickets for a game a couple weeks back where they both got the tour of ground by Stuart himself on a busy match day. Real class act and they had a great day.

That's incredible 😅 never wanted a team to go up through the playoffs more!

  15. Evening all, a wee bit of a last minute one for you all. I'm interviewing Darren Young on monday for my podcast "Today Wheelenterview" and I'd love to get as many supporters connected to him as possible involved.

That being said, are there any questions you'd like me to put to your former captain, or any stories or insights on him you would like me to mention. Questions from supporters has worked a charm so far on the show and I'd love to broaden the reach by letting you all hear exactly what you want to hear. Superb win today to secure your ticket to Hampden, and I hope there's a solid man in the dugout at Pittodrie as soon as possible. Happy to share the episode when it's ready to go in this forum if any are interested. All the best for the rest of the season!

  16. Hi all. I had interviewed your very own Stewart Petrie last month and had the lightbulb moment that I may be depriving you of an hour's chat with your gaffer by not sharing it on this forum. It was mostly a chronological run through of his story so far, and I can see why he's the SPFL's second longest serving manager, what a gentleman! If you're interested give it a wee listen here!

*Sorry it only occurred to me several weeks later to let you guys here in on it. If I had been thinking faster on my feet I would have got you all involved with a supporter Q&A throughout the interview, which worked a charm with Stuart Hunter down at Bo'ness United. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed having Stewart on and I'll be up at in Angus soon as a token of gratitude. All the best for the playoff run in!

This was great, I'll definitely keep an eye out for future episodes as well.

Future is bright with Hunter at the wheel.

You’re a gentleman mate, thank you. I’m as sold on Hunts as you are, you have nothing to worry about! I hope it’s given you all an opportunity to feel a wee bit closer to the gaffer, and if necessary it’ll buy him a few extra games if things go sour! Wish Bo’ness nothing but success going forward, great club

How it feels to get defeated consistently by all FK clubs?

    Thanks!

See I don’t follow League 1 as much as I’d like to, although this season I’ve been keeping more of an eye, so I wasn’t aware of Darren’s Achilles Heel, but I’ll make sure this is worded as light heartedly as possible mate. If John McGlynn’s ever on you better hope I don’t find his bogey teams!

He's obviously had a good career at the top end of the Scottish game as a player, and has a good track recorded in the lower leagues as a manager of 3 clubs......but does Darren still hold out for that move into Full Time Football Management or is he happy with his day job and working in the game Part Time?

During his time at the club, his signings have, by and large been good ones....there have been very few flops. How does he go about targeting the players he wants at this level??

He and his brother spent a large part of their playing days together at Aberdeen and Dunfermline, and obviously both have gone into Coaching and Darren into management, but why have they never worked together since hanging up the boots?

Thanks very much for these mate. I like that last one especially I don’t think I’d have realised him and his brother had never worked together. In the last interview I did I liked being able to ask questions the supporters wanted to know, as I’ve stuck to a very chronological-style timeline of careers so far with each chat. This is all for you guys so I hope you enjoy it when it’s out, Im looking forward to meeting your gaffer!

We saw a bunch of our under 19s feature for the club pre season and early doors in the campaign, but I think all are now out on loan or back in the under 19s, who should we as fans be excited about breaking through to the first team soon?

It seems a lifetime since we have had a youngster to come through our academy and be excited about as they break into the team.

The real answer may well be "they are all currently shite and not good enough" but if you could get an answer by asking a little more diplomatically than that would be great. There may be a couple of potential superstars in there.

I happen to know a boy the now who’s in the youth set up at Stirling. I reckon he will be in about the u19’s. Being 18 myself youth development is always very exciting to me especially in the lower leagues, however your enthusiasm drains when you realise there’s guys younger than you starting for Barcelona, and you’re sat trying to string a podcast together.

I’ll possibly try and weave this question into the general interview anyway, but enough wiggle room that I can give you credit for it!

Would love to hear how Darren manages the challenges of getting his game plan and organisation done with the limitations of part time football.

A couple of training sessions a week isn't a lot to get the ideas across.

Be interested when this comes out.

Glad you’re looking forward to it mate. Spoke about the challenges/limitations of part time coaching with Stewart Petrie over at Montrose a couple of weeks back on the show, I’ll link it below if you’re interested in a lot of Dick Campbell glorification. Be interesting to see how it varies club-to-club
