    Huw Edwards charged with making indecent images of children - BBC News Criminal charges now, and in court on Wednesday; Former BBC News presenter Huw Edwards has been charged with three counts of making indecent images of children. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Huw Edwards, 62, of Southwark, London has been charged with three counts of making indecent images of children following a Met Police investigation. “The offences, which are alleged to have taken place between December 2020 and April 2022, relate to images shared on a WhatsApp chat. “Edwards was arrested on 8 November 2023. He was charged on Wednesday, 26 June following authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service. “He has been bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 31 July. “Media and the public are strongly reminded that this is an active case. Nothing should be published, including on social media, which could prejudice future court proceedings.” Mr Edwards will appear in court on Wednesday.

    I would have thought so, as you can only sign for one prospective MP or councillor or MSP at an election. Would seem odd to endorse more than one candidate. The rules state, Doesn't specifically say you cannot nominate more than one candidate but i would be very surprised if you could.

    Just about a capacity for candidates, Each candidates needs 10 signed backers. So 6 candidates (Patel, Stride, Jenrick, Tugendhat, Cleverly & Badenoch), with 10 backers each is 66MPs. There is only 55 of them left not signed up as a candidate or a backer. Definitely going to be messy fight.

    Manchester Airport: Police officer suspended after kicking video - BBC News Just watched this, it a 14 second clip of the cop absolutely blootering the restrained guy on the grounds head, then stamping on it and then knee to the back. That is under any circumstances excessive and the type of assault that could lead to horrific life changing injuries or worse. If he is not charged it is beyond belief. Don't know what those that were arrested will be charged with and if the deserve and require charged that fine, but that cop should never wear a uniform again.

    Seeing the Zutons in December, they supporting Paul Heaton on his tour. Last time I saw them they were supporting REM @ Loch Lomond, mostly want to see them so I can scream at folk 'this is what the song Valerie should sound like, not being butchered by that warbling Bint Winehouse'.

    Was a neutral at Pittodrie last night. Aberdeen were poor in 1st half, no structure and lost too many easy tackles and passes. Airdrie were impressive and deserved lead. 2nd half and a better Aberdeen came out and pushed hard for the goals that got the win, but still not brilliant, and gave Airdrie plenty of opportunities to get back in it. A slackness that will need to be sorted. MotM was Hancock, not only very good but greatly assisted by the Aberdeen defence being allergic to being within 10m of him and giving him so much space to play as he wanted on the wide left. Doubt he will be at Airdrie much longer.

    Seems optimistic to expect 4 candidates for a hustings at their conference, would imagine with such a small pool of 121 MPs they won't have that many realistic candidates. Although my preference would be lots of candidates and in-fighting leading to splits on both sides as some think the lead candidate is too right wing, and some think it not right wing enough. is it too much to dream of splits both ways just think if 31 defect, and 19 of them go LD, the LDs would be on 91 MPs and the Tories on only 90 and third in the HoC. Bring on the squabbling, back-stabbing, front-stabbing and insanity.

    Aberdeen - The brown brogue wearing teuchters battling for space with your world weary oil workers of the world know-it alls. Only advantage of Aberdeen is the bar seating can be within 10 feet of the gate. I have sat with a pint as the queue formed past the table I was sitting at, then watched them stand for 30mins then herd themselves on, before standing, finishing my pint and walking to back of queue that had about 3 people left in it.
