Didn't realise Morgaro Gomis was still playing, how's he been getting on at Shire? Still more than capable at this level?

Trialists yesterday were Harry Wright, Hibs under 19, was a right back, seems to have transitioned to a right midfielder, son of Hibs legend Keith Wright.
Adam Masson (19) was released from Raith Rovers. Can play at the back or defensive midfield. Only played a handful of games in championship for Raith. Apparently a very committed 'gives it his all' type of player, good defensively but not great at getting forward. Was on loan at Linlithgow for second half of last season.
No idea who the trialists on the bench were.

On the topic of managers that are way too good to be managing Scotland, I always wonder this as a general point about club managers as well.
You never really get any great world class managers who decide they want a bit of a challenge and decide to try and manage a much smaller club (football manager style)
Now whilst the main reasons are obvious, I would have thought we might see the odd or two here and there who aren't arsed about money as they have plenty but just want the challenge of a cold Tuesday night up at Elgin.
You see the odd ex international footballer here and there play non league but perhaps that's because the retirement age of a footballer is much younger than that of a manager.
Even on a much smaller local level here in Scotland, I'm surprised you don't see things like Alex McLeish managing Edinburgh Uni and shit like that

What's Adam Masson like as a player? Seems to be on trial with us and played a couple games

Harry Wright any good Hibees? Seems to have been playing as a trialist for us today but didn't think he had been released by you?

Hopefully they are competing at correct end of Championship this season
Morrison had a really good season at Wigan last year in league one. Started most games and ended up being one of their players of the season.
Very calm and composed on the ball.

The Thomas Reilly playing left wing back today was a lad from last years under 20 squad, not the ex Kelty player.

Thomas Reilly seems a solid piece of business, albeit last 18 months chasing the money in the West of Scotland League at Darvel. Not particulary fast mind, but that may be just pre season fitness
Anyone recognise any of the trialists?

Josh Cooper turned out as a trialist for Dunfermline last night so I think we can assume he has also left
I noticed Flynn Duffy also a trialist for the pars.

Good on him, hope it works out well for him this time round.

I see Wales are considering Thierry Henry for their vacant job - wonder what sort of salary that would be?

Ever since the new board took over the running of the club, the communications has plummeted to almost non existent levels. We then get a club update and in it keep getting told "we know comms is poor and we are working on it" and then ultimately nothing happens until it repeats itself.
It doesn't need to be huge long updates, it doesn't even need to be on the appalling website. Could just be a tweet or a facebook update saying 'for those looking to buy season tickets, they will be on sale X date'
They really need to start small with the communications if they are struggling behind the scenes. Just commit to an update once a week on the website and then try and progress from there.
If the club is having issues with x, y and z behind the scenes then just tell us or give us a vague update saying so. Even if its an update with not alot to be said, it lets fans know that something is happening. Absolute silence just enrages everyone.

We also have a friendly away to Albion Rovers on 9th July. It was announced by AR a couple weeks ago. Nothing from us
Competitive football starts in less than 3 weeks

Taken from match thread. Clarkes comments:
"What's the point he is from Argentina? What's the point? Why is it not a European referee? Trying to be clever. I don't know. I don't understand. I don't understand why he is here and not in his own country refereeing the game. I don't understand how VAR can look at that and say it is not a penalty. It's just my opinion."

Clarkes post game comments on the referee were embarrassing.
Asked if he had spoke to the officials about the penalty he said:
"What's the point, he's argentinian, why do we have an argentinian reffing the game, why haven't we got a european"

So an article from 4 years ago when Hickey was still at Hearts and the line is:
"I think he would be a fantastic holding midfield player with his great awareness of danger and his ability to get out of tight situations with the ball at his feet.”
and based on that one line from Levein, people have him moved position

According to Craig Levein (Thomas Frank has said it, too) his natural position is anchorman.
But what do they know, they've just been in football for decades.
Your "Kin hell" greatly supersedes their experience, qualifications, etc.
Totes.
“I’m not sure if he’ll end up being a full-back, he might end up going back into the midfield area. I think he would be a fantastic holding midfield player with his great awareness of danger and his ability to get out of tight situations with the ball at his feet.”
Total TAMBlicious knowledge, mate.
I'm calling bullshit on this Aaron Hickey as an anchor in midfield. I had a search last time you mentioned it and found nothing.
Can you kindly provide links/quotes to Thomas Frank and/or any of his managers saying he could play there?

Can't remember where I saw it earlier, but 4 points is something like 99.6% enough to qualify

When he first came in a few years ago, I think he made a massive difference to our set pieces and we saw some direct results from that in the form of goals from free kicks, some clever corner routines and defensively seemed to shore up the defence a bit when defending set pieces.
I have noticed in the last year or so that we aren't having anywhere near the success rate we previously did, and in fact the opposite that our set pieces (offensively and defensively) have looked pretty poor.
I know there is a few guys on here that do stats and analysis - is there any facts or numbers to back this up? It might be one of those things I have imagined though.

Yeah a solid enough signing for this level on paper. He got 5 goals in 7 (10) for Alloa last season but hasn't been massively prolific anywhere. We are his 14th club in 10 seasons, so hasn't stuck around anywhere for very long. Good luck to him regardless, hope he does the business.
