If we could get connolly signed up on 18 month deal with zero up front costs, thats a cracking signing for a play off push and for next season also, prodomanantly left sided which is something we seriously lack. I wouldnt see any harm in signing him just now. Could possibly push petrie out on loan or let him go if he can find a club.

Still another week of the window, and still clubs havent really done any major business, but hibs will have to let go 2/3 of there 7 strikers! Could be a possibilty of the el alagui on a free, that kind of player.

El Alagui is being offered on loan but clubs have to cover his wages....£1400 p/w

I used to work with El Alagui's girlfriend, the most typical wag you ever did see: big fake tatters, puffy lips, stupidly big merc etc etc, so that number doesn't surprise me, surprised it's not more to be honest. Loved the casino too.

Connolly would maybe be a great signing, particularly if we sign him and a 'real' striker.

If it's one or the other though, again he could work out great, maybe he and Stewart would strike up a great partnership.. But what would we do if Stewart was unavailable?

I liked the look of Connolly at United, thought he looked a great prospect which obviously went wrong a little since he's in talks with us. Wouldn't really matter how good he could be if it's between him and a striker though..

Eh, we're not planning on staying for more than one season. It's nice to go travelling but it's also nice to get back to your own bed.

That's what Sevco and Hibs said.

I don't think Hibs planned on staying for more than one season. They may be here for a third.

Likewise with Rangers. They didn't plan on being in the championship for more than a season either.

Plans change though.

Hibs fans said the same ;)

Urgh, comparisons with Sevco and Hibs. Will this nightmare never end. :(

More on Connolly and a centre forward from abroad coming over next week - today's Courier.

By the sounds of it we're looking at bringing in Connolly and another striker. I have thought for the past few months we have looked very pedestrian going forward. This was probably down to Daly's inclusion but we haven't been playing with a lot of pace. Having Longridge and Connolly on board would certainly change this. I can't remember the last time I saw one of our players grab a game by the scruff of the neck...it was probably Vaughan!

He's only 20 but given the lack of game time he's had he'll hopefully be desperate to just play football.

Also I see that the magician Craig Barr is back in full training. Wonder if he'll find himself on the bench this weekend. Hopefully Toshney is fit to come back in as well.

Combining this positive squad news with a win on Saturday would be fantastic and just give a lift to all of us after the past month's matches.

Excellent signing to be honest. He's not a striker, but Ray has said we're bringing in someone to have a look at him. It's a shame El Alagui is on such ridiculous wages cause he'd be an great capture. Proven at this level. We almost have a full squad, I feel a bit giddy.
