The guy involved posts regularly on here and is one of the reasoned and insightful posters.

I think his take on it was that if people are uncomfortable with the truth, that's their problem.

Travelled on the same bus as the editor of the time.

On the way to the last game of the season at Firhill, we had posters made up with his face and the tag line 'Not editing a UEFA Cup Programme Next Season"

What was the story with Stark’s Bark, did they not get the bullet for writing something similar or am I getting my wires crossed with the above?

It was creating Starks Bark that got me the gig as matchday programme editor. One of the club directors of the time was a subscriber! He approached me and encouraged me to continue the fanzine feel, so I took him at his word.

At the end of the "not playing in the UEFA Cup" season, having refused to phone DAFC and apologise, I was indeed informed by Alex Penman that my services were no longer required, so in time, I resurrected Starks Bark, with a different group of contributors.

Just like the Beatles before us though, we had some creative differences, and after another handful of issues I left it in the hands of those who had joined me. It carried on for a while before the times, they were a-changing, and it wuffed its last.

The Pars programme issue was a highlight for me, and a Starks Bark highlight was selling a copy to a Pars fan in the Novar, who turned out to be the subject of the "Cheeky Monkey" article contained therein.

Halcyon days.

I used to enjoy reading Stark's Bark back in the day.

There was also another fanzine called 27/11 for a while which was also pretty good.  From what I remember it probably strayed even further over the line than SB did.  There was one edition after we were rumoured to be signing a former swedish porn star with the headline "Blue is the colour, shagging is the game!!!".

Did you do car stickers for Stark’s Bark?

I have it in my head that we had one on the back of my dads Astra which we had from ‘92-‘95.

There were indeed car stickers. A roundel with the mascot in the middle and "Ken them? I've clapped their dug" around the edge.

Still got some somewhere.

The Partick Thistle website says we are in the Jackie Husband, isn't the Aitken suite in the Colin Weir (aka Wooden) stand?

It is in the Colin Weir stand/old stand at the front mate.  I’m amazed that you have been put in the Jackie Husband - I know it’s a midweek game but it’s a huge game for both clubs and would expect Raith to have a large travel support so would have expected you to get the whole Colin weir stand to yourselves.

I see we have two 'blocks' - what do they hold? This link https://ptfc.co.uk/season-tickets/stadium-plan/ suggests that supports of more than 500 are hosted in the Colin Weir. I know its a Tuesday night but I would expect we would get close to 500 (or exceed it).

Still got loads of issues of SB and 27/11 in the loft, maybe all of them. Being the same age as you, I preferred 27/11 as it was much more childish and daft. SB was the cleverer big brother that went to Uni, where 27/11 dossed about in the pub. Both a great read, think John Greer used to contribute to one of them, forget which.

John was a contributor to the 2nd incarnation of SB.
