Don't know what to make of this signing as I know absolutely nothing about him. Anyway welcome and hopefully he is a decent right back.

Same mate , seems to have been a promising player but lost his way last couple of years , hopefully does well

Needed a right back in the door, defo must of had potential at some point - I’d imagine we’d get another in at some point maybe on loan nearer September as hinted on here Megwa would be preferred

Interesting CV. In his last season at DU was normally shoehorned in at RM, with some RB. Season before that was playing more RB than RM...and before that was in League One with Peterhead and got time across the whole back four. Doesn't look to be a scorer or prolific assist provider, but Irish Premier is considered higher rated than the Scottish Championship and he has played a decent amount in the Scottish Premiership. Seems an interesting signing, and being only 24, sure looks the part of a player with more potential to be found.

Edit: No length of contract mentioned.

A reminder that Jonathan Afolabi ran riot in that league. If it's higher rated, then it's not by much.

No, he didn't play right midfield. He's a right back/ right wing back. Can just about do a shift at left back.

Left United as a 17 year old for £400k to join the Southampton Academy but picked up a very bad injury and was eventually freed. Came back up the road and did well before stalling and eventually lost all confidence and just never recovered.  Good guy, good pace, good technique but his confidence seems quite fragile.  Definitely an arm round the shoulder rather than a kick up the arse type guy. Most United fans will wish him well.

Well that’s actually quite positive TBF. Sounds like there’s certainly some ‘pedigree’ about the lad. At 24 it’s a good age and hopefully Murray can get him going.

Yeah. Given that Gullan and McGill have also ended up there I have my doubts about it's quality.

Ryan Christie somehow plays in the English Premier League, can we doubt its quality too? 😜

It’s actually a decent bit higher, but…the methodology is always the question. While the Scottish Premiership gets five teams in this years UEFA rankings, the Irish get none. The rub is the top team (Celtic) have a rating score about three times that of the 12 place team, and the Irish Premier is the top league in a county the same size as Scotland.

On current form, we can see the Scottish Premiership ranked 60th (with a 68.4), the Irish Premier ranked 97th (with a 63.1), between English League One (65th) and Two (117th). The Scottish Championship shows in 171st (with a 52.4), just below the Welsh Premier at 163rd. With the methodology used, 10 points is equal to 1 goal, so an “average” Irish Premiership team would, on average, be expected to defeat an average Scottish Championship team by 1 goal. In the same vein, a Scottish Premiership team is expected to beat a Scottish Championship team by about 1.5 goals, on average.

Sanity check: Both Bowie and Hendry moved to, and played well in, English League Two (which is evaluated as +0.5 goals vs Scottish Championship and 1.5 vs Scottish League One). Gullan moved “up” to the Irish Premier and struggled at first on close to their weakest team, having left one of the strongest Scottish Championship teams when he was having trouble cracking the starting lineup, so that tracks.

This is where Fordyce, Stevenson and Hanlon could really pay dividends. Fordyce with his management background, Stevenson and Hanlon, as experienced veterans with top tier credentials of having been there and done that, they’ll be ideal for getting the most out of players like Freeman, Montagu, Gibson and Hannah.

My head exploded reading this.
