Two great set lists and a rave on the balcony, perfect Thursday night oot. It was a superb gig, don't think that I have danced as much at a gig before.

tongue_tied_danny
Not much happening in Dundee in the foreseeable future. Mostly Scottish indie bands. I've got tickets for Broken Chanter, Parliamo and The Shambolics. Paul Weller is at the Caird Hall later in the year, but I'm not paying £50 for it.
Craig fae the Vale
What's Oran Mor like as a gig venue? Got Microwave in there on Wednesday and only ever been in the pub part.
tongue_tied_danny
Broken Chanter was decent last night in Beat Generator. I also enjoyed the support act. A young female duo called The Cords, who had a bit of a C86 style jangly indie thing going on.

Most annoying part was the rain that night and trying to actually find the place!

Decent, but there's a significant difference in sound depending on where you're standing or sitting (don't sit, you'll have no view) Stand at the back and you'll get loads of bar chatter, there's speakers about 2/3rds of the way back to deal with this, but the sound is a lot better the other side of them, closer to the stage.
Dunfermline Don
The Modfather in Dunfermline last night. He reckons this is his first ever gig in the city and even paid tribute to local legend Stuart Adamson dedicating one of his songs to him.

The ceiling's low, it's quite hot and there's only one one person-sized door in and out so I hope you don't smoke. In my experience it's always been pretty good but the last time I was there the sound wasn't good. If anything, too loud.
BillyAnchor
Saw The Mountain Goats last night, enjoyed it but more their rocking songs. He spends a wee bit too long on longer solos that never hold me.
kevinffc
Paul Draper tomorrow night in Edinburgh at the caves a new venue for me Spoiler Spoiler
Craig fae the Vale
Microwave and The Dirty Nil co-headliner at Òran Mór tonight. Both bands on top form and great sound quality in a venue I've not been at before for a gig. Great show. Opened by English grunge duo Sick Joy, a very enjoyable start to the night.

Hard Graft
Interesting fortnight. Two weeks ago Hawkwind at Newcastle. Still showing they have got it and a superb performance from Dave Brock after a short illness and despite his advancing years. A great mix of old and new with some of the old stuff not heard for years. Possibly the last time they will tour due to health and age. Last night Andre Rieu at the Hydro. Wife wanted to see him so as she had accompanied me to Hawkwind felt needed to repay the gesture. Was not disappointed by the show. Some incredible singers and musicians with a couple of outstanding moments, one of which is below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdIhq1tb8Co Edited April 21 by Hard Graft
tongue_tied_danny
Just booked a ticket to see Cherie Currie, of The Runaways, at Beat Generator in Dundee later this year. I gotta admit, that's not somebody that I ever imagined would be playing a small venue in Dundee. It'll be interesting to see if she still has it.. or if it will just be a 65 year old woman stomping around on stage.
Craig fae the Vale
Soapbox at Tut's on Friday. New EP dropped today and it has me hyped for the show. Love the Glasgow punk scene.
Craig fae the Vale
Soapbox at a sold out King Tut's tonight. Fantastic show. Manic energy, spiky, catchy, meaningful songs. What a brilliant live band. Support from Junk Pups who were excellent and Demo who were pretty decent.
GrahamJags
Mount Kimbie in Copenhagen tonight. Should be decent.
AnderooMFC
The Warning were as excellent as expected on Tuesday. Cannot see them playing The Garage again, maybe up to the Barras or an Academy next tour. Good support from Conquer Divide if you like a bit of female duel-vocallist screaming. A few others for this year, bought Keane tickets for August, Escape The Fate just announced for July, and aforementioned Conquer Divide are supporting New Years Day that my sister wants me to go to with her. Next for me is Tenacious D at the Hydro and Twin Atlantic at the Academy, both in May.
