Unpopular opinions.

The Fast and Furious films, from about 5 onwards, are tremendous entertainment. They're absolutely ludicrous and an affront to gravity, physics and reality in general, featuring some amazingly shit dialogue and acting, but they're an absolutely great laugh.

They clearly lean in to it now and purposely make each one increasingly ridiculous in an admirable attempt at pushing the limits of nonsense. I'm watching 9 now and it's almost an outright comedy.

Terrific stuff.

Saying wrestling is 'fake' is pretty much the same as saying Thor is 'fake' or that Stranger Things is 'fake' or that Hamlet is 'fake'.

No it’s not.  It’s really, really not.

Why not? It's a show like any other TV show. The matches in wrestling are similar to the fights in 'The Boys'. They're scripted for entertainment.

It's not fake as long as they all stick to the script.

True, but I think the unspoken implication is that, in this scenario, "fake" = "shite".

It stopped being for me when I stopped being twelve and/or they stopped wearing silly costumes and started pretending to have actual fights in alleyways, but I've a lot of respect for the dedication of the performers. Those poor b*****ds work all year round for a pittance, are considered "contractors" despite being unable to work for anybody else, accept (and have to work through) genuine injury and illness as part of the job, have a disturbingly high chance of dying at an alarmingly early age, and end up unable to retire even when continuing to perform may cause permanent harm to their health. By far and away, the most interesting part of wrestling is the plight of the internationally-known performers who end up begging the internet for help with even minor medical bills, made worse by the fact that an awful lot of them seem to be genuinely guid c***s.

The effect of the WWF/WWE on the industry has been disgusting, and the best thing fans can do is refuse to pay a penny towards it, and let the b*****ds know why.

The lowest paid are on quarter of a mil a year. I'd batter the shite out my body for that 'pittance'.

I find it hard to believe that people travelling the country in a transit to put on weekly shows for 30 people in gym halls and function rooms get paid that much.

... for example.
