SaltyTON
I'm not arguing that they shouldn't be in the SECC, I don't have enough facts, but I'd say that there's a big wedge of each's crowd(if they indeed sell out Academy) that will go to both. So saying that both sell out X amount doesn't mean that together they deserve a venue of 2X. It's a venue of 4X. There's nothing capacity wise between the Academy and the SECC. I have seen a gig with about 500 in the SECC (albeit in the smaller hall, which still holds almost double the Academy), so it's not as though they aren't used to gigs which aren't sold out there. Having been to the last three sell outs at the Academy of Alter Bridge's I can assure you that they have pretty different main fan bases. Whilst a lot of AB fans (myself, and the other two people I'll know there) like BSC, there's a lot of difference between the bands hardcore. Black Stone Cherry attract a lot of moshers, Alter Bridge attract a lot of Christian rock fans (due to their Creed links, and their quite religious lyrics). It's a pretty different crowd. NorthernLights
DotF III ticket bought today Trivium were excellent when I saw them up in Inverness back in March last year and I'm hopeful the rest of the line up will be just as good.

NorthernLights
Bands announced/leaked are Trivium, In Flames and Rise to Remain I had a feeling In Flames would be the other main band. They are doing dates with Trivium in Europe before the DotF tour so that makes sense. I was hoping for that as I love In Flames. Rise to Remain should be decent. I wonder who the fourth band will be then. As long as its not Yashin I'll probably be happy!
IainMorton
Never actually listened to In Flames before, will need to check out some of their stuff. Only know of RTR as they supported Trivium last time they were over here and Bruce Dickinson's son is the singer!!

Its is one of those albums I'll happily listen to from start to finish. My favourite song off that album is probably Square Nothing. The way it is slow and plodding before bursting into life after around 80 seconds is just awesome. George Parr
Heard whispers of a Machine Head tour at the end of the year.... Aye, so confirmed now for Dec 5th in SECC with Bring Me the Horizon, Devildriver and Darkest hour (The 8th Plague [Poss album title?] Tour). I'll prob go to this as MH are outstanding live and DD are also damn entertaining. Never heard DH and would watch BMTH out of curiosity. Just realised that's the night before Trivium as well, metal week!

IainMorton
Might go to the MH gig if tickets are available nearer the time. seen them live a few times and they always impressed me, and I've heard that DevilDriver are immense live! Edit to remove the space I had put in DevilDriver. Edited June 20, 2011 by IainMorton

Edit to remove the space I had put in DevilDriver. I've seen DD twice, i'm not a massive fan or anything right enough, i've only seen them as a supporting act. They are really good though. Clouds of California is a fcukin tune! edit to add: Their circle pits are absolutely huuuuge. Nearly took up the whole floor at the Barras! there was a wee island of people in the middle of it as well haha. I remember reading that they broke the record for the biggest circle pit at Download Festival a few years back. Was in one of the tents aswell, and I think I read that it was that big, it was actually on the outside of the poles holding up the tent, with no-one in the middle! Maybe Dunning can confirm this as I think he was there!

Or if they were then I saw someone else on the big screens later on.

forehead7
Think it was in '07 mate Well I heard someone say they broke it when they played the main stage in 09, they were on at like midday or something, IIRC.
IainMorton
Maybe it was 09 they broke the record and I am getting mixed up, but I certainly remember them doing it in a tent. Probably would have been 07 cos I think the arena was still inside the track at Donington then.
