H Wragg
SNP win Strathkelvin and Bearsden. That's a first, I think. I grew up in that constituency (albeit Westminster only originally), and it has been Tory (Michael Hirst), Sam Galbraith (Labour), then it was Labour for both after devolution, then Dr. Jean Turner (Ind) won at Holyrood, then Jo Swinson (LD) won at Westminster (under East Dunbartonshire). Are you still with me?? The long and short of it is that the SNP, to my knowledge, haven't been close to gaining the seat in the past. Don't know whether it's coincidence or a sign of a big effort or whatever, but my brother had his first ever knock at the door in an election campaign the other day, and it was from the SNP candidate herself. ps. The ousted MSP, Labour's David Whitton, was the bookies favourite to replace Iain Gray as party leader in Scotland.
