You're always going to get one or two fans criticising players. You only need to look at the ridiculous criticism Muirhead gets from our fans.

Whilst true, we only need to look at the incoming players this season. There were plenty of warnings before many of them kicked a ball. Too often it turned out to be true. So I won’t discount anything, whilst at the same time giving him the normal 20 minutes or so on the pitch to prove himself,,,

What We must remember is we are rooted to the bottom of the table and not showing any consistent form that would indicate we are likely to leave that position soon.  We will struggle to attract players this window. League rules limit the number of domestic loans available to us so any loans we do make will come from down south.  These, however, normally come with a lot of clauses and conditions.
This means you are looking at free agents, lower leagues or top league players who are so far on the fringe that the manager has forgotten he signed them!
 

We will struggle if we pay peanuts as looks like we are. Pay the cash and get the players who will ensure we stay up. 100k A’s was mentioned at the AGM will get us 4 good players or 8 bang average. It looks very like we will end up with the latter.

McGhee is soft , you only need look at the goal DU scored in the 2nd half to see that.

We'll be down in March if we only sign 4 players though. It's all about a balance. Can't imagine Dixon will be on peanuts either.

I think even if we survive this season we have moved so far in reverse it’s going to take a few years to bring in the quality needed to be competitive at the top end of the table again....

I am saying they are not spending enough.

8 players for that sort of investment gets you little better than we have.

Absolutely. We're simply not going to be able to attract the quality of players needed to win a league at the moment. Even if the BoD were to invest £1 million tomorrow, players just wouldn't come. We can only bring in the players available at the moment and be grateful to the guys willing to come in and the BoD for their suppport.

Quite possibly, but that would still guarantee nothing. You still hear the same howls of derision re the players that Hughes brought in in his latter tenure and how little good that did us.

Be interesting to analyse this a bit more closely. I guess these players had a winning mentality from the division below. confidence often breeds success. Just wonder how many of these teams players came in the season prior or whether they were together for longer and ‘gelled’ to gain the success they did....

100k should cover 4 or 5 decent players on a January to summer contract. Finding those players will be the hard part. Needs to be a few loans as well. 

 

The number that was quoted to me that Falkirk required (by an agent) was 250k to guarantee safety.

 

5 players on £800/week and you are way past your 100k if you include bonus’s and possible accommodation costs

By that logic you would never speculate a little or teams with the biggest budget never win leagues. We know that is not true.

If we can't stay up paying out less than half of that then we might as well liquidate the club.

 In his opinion Falkirk have 3/4 players tops up to to this level.

 

Work it out it is about 9 players at c1k/week. If is not as way out as it sounds. Remember at the fans forum McKinnon was talking about 8-10 to come in.

 

you also have NIC c10%, bonuses and maybe accommodation to pay
