Guest Caleyking Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Chelsea have complained to Uefa after an alleged half-time incident in the players' tunnel during their 2-1 Champions League defeat in Barcelona. Jose Mourinho and the team refused to speak after the match - and the Chelsea manager could be fined as a result. The source of Chelsea's anger was a discussion between Barca boss Frank Rijkaard and referee Anders Frisk, who later dismissed Didier Drogba. "The reaction of some of Chelsea's side was a bit exaggerated," Rijkaard said. "I said something about the game in a very polite and informal way to the referee. "It is not true that the referee went into our dressing-room and I am glad this rumour has come out because now it seems even more ridiculous to me." The only comment from the Chelsea camp was a formal statement read by spokesman Simon Greenberg. It was a perfectly calm game with excellent crowd behaviour and we do not understand the Chelsea decision Uefa spokesman William Gaillard "We will be submitting an official complaint to Uefa about an incident that occurred at half-time," he confirmed. There were also reports Barca assistant Henk Ten Cate assaulted Mourinho with a kick on his backside during a scuffle in the tunnel during the break. Rijkaard criticised Blues boss Mourinho, who was so vocal before the game. "It's the job of the coach to come out and speak to the media," he added. "There was a lot of talking before the game and now surprisingly there is a lot of talking after the game. It is not good behaviour after a match. "Maybe they want to start something and make it worse than than it is. I really don't understand it. I am very calm about it. "We didn't start anything and I didn't talk to the referee in an aggressive way. I was very polite. "I think what they are talking about is very exaggerated. I am also curious about what the Chelsea declaration will be." Barca midfielder Deco, formerly managed by Mourinho at Porto, agreed that it was not typical of his fellow Portuguese to lodge a protest. "It's not normal behaviour on his part," he said. "It was not logical he did not give a news conference." Rijkaard added: "Chelsea is the team which has conceded fewest goals in the English league and they defend very well so I am very pleased with the win. "My men deserved victory and I am pleased to have won this match. I congratulate my players." Mourinho could now face Uefa sanctions for refusing to attend the post-match conference. Uefa spokesman William Gaillard admitted he was surprised by Mourinho's decision. "It was a perfectly calm game with excellent crowd behaviour and we do not understand the Chelsea decision. "We will certainly ask them. It is a a violation of the rules." Could well just be sore losing on Jose's part and most probably is. Afterall, there was no way Drogba deserved to be sent off and Decos dive (even though he got nothing for it) was the worst (most blatant) I've seen this season, and Frisk was only 10 yards away.

Guest Caleyking Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 JOSE IN KICKED UP THE BUM SHOCKER! Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard hit out at Chelsea after they snubbed the post-match press conference because of an alleged incident in the Nou Camp tunnel at half-time. Chelsea officials were allegedly involved in a tunnel bust-up with members of the Barcelona staff after Jose Mourinho objected to Barcelona coach Rijkaard talking to referee Anders Frisk. There were also suggestions that Barca's assistant coach Henk Ten Cate assaulted Mourinho with a kick on his backside during the scuffles. Chelsea are understood to have been fuming after Mourinho spotted Rijkaard chatting to Frisk and a scuffle is then alleged to have broken out between Ten Cate and Chelsea's goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro. Ten Cate is also alleged to have assaulted the Chelsea manager by kicking him up the backside as tempers became heated. Further exchanges are understood to have taken place between Mourinho and Frisk when the Swedish official tried to hurry Chelsea out for the second half.
