zurcher
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-18736348 - fuckin perfect timing for this eh? The polis should take a huge zero tolerance approach here, arrest everyone and anyone singing offensive songs, waving offensive slogans, making offensive statements, drinking in public, having eyes too close together, arms that are clearly too long for their wee bodies, any number of offences. And keep doing it, every single time there's anything like this, arrest the scumbags and charge them, it'll soon fizzle out. Funny thing though, the Orange Walks, if it weren't for their poisonous, triumphalist bigotry of course, would be a proper tourist spectacle in a lot of countries - silly outfits, pipe bands, loud drums and a colourful parade, but in Scotland (and Ireland too I imagine), they're bigot fests with serious, angry, wee-man-disease-riddled bigots marching along, beating their drums and whatever else, and a sea of genuine sub-human filth walking alongside it, union jacks draped round their mis-shapen shoulders, drunkenly tripping over their unopposable thumbs and swigging buckfast while the rest of us do our best to ignore it. True story, I was on the Subway in Glasgow on Orange Filth day once and a family came on, wee boy about 8, mum, dad and granny, all decked out head to toe in Oldco kit and the dad and granny swigging from cans of lager. There's an atmosphere, words are getting louder and then all of a sudden an actual, honest to god fist fight breaks out between the dad and the gran. She's hitting him and he's shouting something along the lines of "don't hink ull no hit ye back ya auld cow", the mum is trying to pull her away, and the comedy was only spoiled by the vision of this poor wee kid shouting in a squeaky voice "granny, calm doon granny..." the initial urge was of course to laugh, but the thought of this poor kid being brought up by these people left a somewhat bitter taste in the mouth. Jees, that turned into a rant. Anyhoo, are Newco deid yet?
Broken Algorithms
Should have added that because the Glebe pitch doesn't meet this ground criteria, Brechin get fined each season until we get it sorted. Think we get it reduced though seeing as planning permission has been applied for and it requires the hedgeside terracing to be removed for the space and all the floodlights to be moved back. With these extra current costs to the club, it worries me that we might do a Stenny as everything's hush-hush so far. How much is the fine for?
EdTheDuck
Naw, German fitba is so cheap because they at no point ramped the prices up as we did in the UK, that and they still embrace terracing. We could have every game on the TV and all the money we raked in would make no difference to the ticket prices. The oft-made argument that bringing down gate prices will increases attendances exponentially has been proved time and time again to be wrong! The atmosphere at most SPL grounds is bad enough already before emptying the grounds in favour of armchair fans. I wasn't comparing us to the Germans, just using them as an example. But I agree with the sentiment that even we were getting 3 times the TV money I don't think our clubs would use it to lower prices (or on improving youth development for that matter). I can dream though...

A case of the SFA ignoring thier own articles? Nothing surprising there then, more an embarrassment for them not me.

Were Brechin ever actually fined? In March 2009 they were fined £30k "should they fail to comply within 3 years". http://news.bbc.co.u...ity/7940071.stm This was later suspended in March 2010 after they performed some works. http://www.scotsman....ts_sfa_1_798310 Then the licensing system was changed in December anyway, and they now meet Entry + Bronze level dimensions. A case of the SFA ignoring thier own articles? Nothing surprising there then, more an embarrassment for them not me. You don't have to hold a license... it'd be farcical at Sunday league or schoolboy level... and SFL rules don't require clubs to have a license. You're not reading either's rules right or in the correct context. Edited July 6, 2012 by HibeeJibee

KillieJimbo
Archie McPherson? Really? When are we going to drag our national game into the 21st century I wonder.
strichener
A couple of things annoying me still (more than a couple but I'll stick with these two) 1) SFA/SFL attempts to force RangersLite into Div 1 - as I understand it, Scottish football will be on its uppers if Newco aren't in the top league post haste. Looking at everything that's going on at Ibrox - what guarantee is there that Newco will be anywhere near the top come April next year? - does that mean we're now looking at 2nd/3rd and 4th all involved in playoffs with 2nd bottom of SPL? Do all these teams have to lie down to Newco during the playoffs? - what if they (Newco) are outside the top 4? - any refereeing decision "they" get throughout the season is going to come under even more scrutiny than usual (as if the refs' job isn't hard enough) Just don't see how any of the SFL 1 teams can vote for Newco entry on the basis of future sponsor money into the game and still be seen as impartial when playing Newco. SFA have cunning plan - Newco finish first then no reconstruction, all the way up to a first division of 22 teams if they finish 10th in Division 1. Therefore no pressure on the refs etc.
shull
07/07/2012 12:05 Alex Thomson, Archie McPherson and Stephen Craigan take part on this Saturday's OTB show. It's quite a mad lineup, I think Craigan's lack of pace may be exploited, and Archie might just give out a few of the Secrets Man Was Not Meant To Know, that he just can't be arsed keeping under his bunnet any more.
