AberdeenBud
I paid money to watch a very good football team, no matter who they signed and what religion they were. Hope that's clear enough for you, if not then too bad. Sure people living under apartheid said something similar.
aDONisSheep
Ahh, the dead club, those were the days of milk an honey. They weren't bigots you know! Edited October 14, 2014 by aDONisSheep
aofjays
Complete kipper .... a puppet dancing on strings ... keep jerking them aofjays ... too funny. A seething Season Ticket Turncoat. He's resorted to "obviously" in lieu of facts (or what passes for facts in his head). Twice in a single sentence. Fruitless to continue at this stage I'm afraid.
bennett
^^^^^ He's got you dancing for him you idiot! Ok AofJays, put the Tedi down and stop playing with him. Aofjays posts on the forum and someone posts a reply to it. Only a sheer genius like Aofjays could have came up with an idea like that. absolutely brilliant sir... -

dave.j
Imagine deliberately excluding people from your football club because of their religion. Because for what ever reason, they chose to seek faith and hope from a slightly different God. With complete intention, as a person who ran that club, you accepted not being the best your club could be. That you chose to prevent it from being as successful as it could be, because you intentionally did not bring people to the club who followed a certain faith. Words cannot describe how disgusting Rangers were, a filthy disgrace to humanity. Then imagine being a fan, a supporter of that club and feeling no shame. You sat through it, sang the songs wishing death on a group of people because of where they seek their faith. Nothing to be ashamed of. Arrogant, heads held high. But thankfully that club is dead.

No8.
Wow. We have gone from the H word debate to the sectarian signing policy. I blame International Week!
youngsy
Sure people living under apartheid said something similar. Oh do f uck off you fucking clown. Trying to equate apartheid with Scottish football and Rangers Football Club shows how much of an idiot you are.
youngsy
Rangers were not started as a protestant boys club. Matt Taylor didn't even know what year Rangers were formed. I think it was when the protestants from Ireland came to work in the shipyards that Rangers started becoming the protestant club, before this they were known as the Scotch team when they played Celtic. In 50 years between 1920 and 1970 Rangers signed no Catholics from the west of Scotland, the region most of their players came from, during this time Scottish Catholics played for every major Scottish and English club. Irrespective of where these players came from the club still signed Roman Catholics, so now the club has to justify where the players they signed came from. Away and give your head a rest.

Perhaps in order to let the Catholics play, they could have made them wear little yellow stars on their jerseys. Maybe even more than one, not as much as five though that would be too many. Hang on.......

No8.
Rangers signed very few Roman Catholics over a period of years. If anything Rangers Football Club were the only losers in this and like most Rangers supporters i am pleased the reluctance to sign players of that religion are in the distant past. Albertz,Amo and Novo are 3 of the most popular players in recent years and i am delighted i got the chance to see them play...Funnily enough the hatred towards them came very much from the other side as does the hatred that still exists to 'our' Mo Jo. Alfie Conn crossed the divide the other way and after he finished playing he had a job working in a Rangers pub in Glasgow. Could you imagine MoJo working in Bairds Bar (if it hadn't been shut).

youngsy
Well Don Kitchenbrand was a White South African .... Does anybody know his religion? You can't mention that because Rangers never asked his religion. That's Apartheid for you.

Why wouldn't they ask his religion if they employed a strict sectarian signing policy??????

Hope that's clear enough for you, if not then too bad. Your argument appears to be "they were very good" therefore whatever they did was ok? Or at least you are so morally bankrupt that you could remain willfully oblivious to anything. Even the very type of prejudice you just had a wee hissy fit about me mentioning. "The only thing nescessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" Are you a good man Youngsy? Did you do nothing? I know one of those statements is correct, perhaps both. Now, what was this advice you mistakenly thought you were in a position to give to me? AberdeenBud
Youngsy seems upset. Apologies, but personally I find all forms of discrimination abhorrent, not just that based upon skin colour.

Now, what was this advice you mistakenly thought you were in a position to give to me? My argument is and will remain so, i followed a club simply because they were a very good football team who were successful and entertaining, nothing more, nothing less. As regards the yellow star, as someone from a Jewish background i, as with every other from that background, find trying to equate what it stood for and relating that to a football club offensive, hope that clarifies for you.
