Monkey Tennis
Why bother with the infamous side letters in this perfectly legal, all above board, wheeze? Indeed. It was a scam that needed to be conducted dishonestly and in secrecy. In football and moral terms, it cannot be defended.
Ned Nederlander
a trick to entice better players than would otherwise be possible Whilst at the same time not gaining an advantage on the pitch!
Monkey Tennis
Whilst at the same time not gaining an advantage on the pitch! Yes, it really was a clever scheme, wasn't it?
No8.
In football and moral terms, it cannot be defended. I think Rangers oldco have defended it a few times successfully.
dirty dingus
The wee cheating case or the big cheating case, who gives a f**k. The sorry mob of bigots and loonballs who continually pissed on scottish football and told us all it was raining are conigned to history and have been replaced by the fluffy all inclusive soccerball club that is international sevco fc. Let the dead rest in peace.
Jacksgranda
it's "Assume" rather than "Assumption". Otherwise the already weak wordplay fails entirely Glad somebody explained that - I couldn't work it out.
Monkey Tennis
I think Rangers oldco have defended it a few times successfully. Not in football or moral terms that are remotely convincing. You know this yourself of course. You know it was a thoroughly deceitful con. The only thing you can say in its favour is that you apparently got away with it, apart from with that trifling death of the club business, of course.

AberdeenBud
The scale of the industrial level cheating still staggers tbh; The commission said dozens of players received side-letters outlining extra-contractual payments which were not disclosed to the Scottish Premier League. The report stated there was sufficient evidence to show that all of the following were in receipt of side-letters. HERE’s a breakdown of who got a side letter and what they made from the EBT scheme. Alan Hutton £364,000 Alex Rae £569,000 Andrei Kanchelskis £145,000 Arthur Numan £510,000 Barry Ferguson £2.5million Bert Konterman £300,000 To Billy Dodds £190,000 Bob Malcolm £125,000 Carlos Cuellar £448,255 Chris Burke £55,000 Christian Nerlinger £1.8million Claudio Caniggia £1million Craig Moore £1.1million Dado Prso £1.9million Egil Ostenstad £370,000 Fernando Ricksen £684,225 Federico Nieto £24,500 Gavin Rae £376,000 Gregory Vignal £173,000 Ian Murray £95,000 Jean-Alain Boumsong £630,000 Jerome Bonnissel £48,000 Jesper Christiansen £320,000 Julien Rodriguez £638,000 Kevin Muscat £1million Kris Boyd £215,000 Libor Sionko £178,000 Lorenzo Amoruso £639,000 Marvin Andrews £316,025 Maurice Ross £120,000 Michael Ball £1.4million Michael Mols £260,000 Mikel Arteta £674,603 Nacho Novo £1.2million Neil McCann £500,000 Nuno Capucho £970,000 Olivier Bernard £224,000 Paolo Vanoli £592,000 Tore Andre Flo £1.3m Pedro Mendes £1million Peter Lovenkrands £902,000 Ronald De Boer £1.2million Ronald Waterreus £510,000 Sasa Papac £319,000 Sotirios Kyrgiakos £532,200 Stefan Klos £2million Steven Davis £600,000 Steven Smith £7500 Steven Thompson £485,000 Tero Penttila £140,000 Thomas Buffel £1.2million Zurab Khizanishvili £405,000 Shota Arveladze: Had side letter but unclear what extra money he got Russell Latapy: Had side letter but unclear what extra money he got Brahim Hemdani: Had side letter but unclear what extra money he got I presume the record breaking fine is also evidence of further anti Rangers bigotry and hatred from the enemies?

williemillersmoustache
Keep going, chappy. This thread is all about catharsis. Dozens of posters have used The Big Thread as a spleen-venting exercise so there's no reason why you shouldn't join in. Thanks for your permission Kinky, much obliged. Nothing that the now dead club ever achieved was for the betterment of Scotland, Scottish Football, Scottish society, the human race, planet Earth of the Universe in which we inhabit. Which is fitting as we now know that for every one of these shiny baubles that was won fairly an equal or similar number were achieved through lies, deceit and the greatest shame ever to be visited on Scottish Sport or our great game. But like all things passed they are now beyond the reach of the mortals left behind and we can consign these things to the history books like the uncle we never speak of or that Janny who got caught looking at child-porn. At every turn in their now finished life Rangers were a stain, a disgrace and a ball and chain holding back the progress of the things of which it was a part. No possible crime, bad-turn or deal was too under-hand for the most arrogant collection of self-aggrandising inadequates this country, this sport and this nation have had the misfortune to provide a home for. My utter contempt for all things Rangers is only matched in scope by the infantile, delirious delight I experience at the suffering the fans of this vile, backward and now passed institution have gone through. What has risen in its place may be completely and wholly separated by the finality of death but here we see that great contradiction and great folly. Rather than become new, reborn, rejuventaed and without the shackles and stains of the club now gone, The Therangers could have been so much more. Instead they choose to believe the unbelievable, to follow the unfollowable and maintain the vile, hateful, ignorant and destructive traditions of a thing that is as despised as it is dead. So I like many others will continue to express our mirth at that so sevco of combinations, delusion, misery, shame and arrogance and hope that the next time they die they might take the time to find that which has been missing for all time in the land of theRangers. Contrition, Humility, Respect and Self-Awareness. Either that or we'll just keep pissing ourselves laughing at you, until you die again, again. The_Kincardine
It was a legal tax avoidance scheme, EBT`s were 100% legal when Rangers used them, Rangers did not field ineligible players, Rangers did not make any irregular payments, the way which players were paid did not breach SPL or SFA rules, Rangers did not issue dual contracts. f**k off with your reasonableness. You are spoiling the whole thread.

Unusually I haven't quoted your post selectively as your whole spleen-venting should be seen by all. It is, as I said, The Thread of Catharsis. In response, I'd like you to respect my thoughts on your own club. You have posted hunners of time about my team so I hope you'll respect me giving a brain-dump on everything I know of Aberdeen: They play in Aberdeen Pittodrie can be fucking Baltic even in September I reckon this evens us up.
