Itwiznaeme
For SFL clubs, I think the old rule would actually make more sense. Bear in mind that SFL games aren't usually televised. A more effective way of flogging 'away' strips probably would be to wear them in a number of home games, ensuring a larger number of your club's supporters got to see both strips in action. I can't say that i agree with that. Consumerism/Commercialism only profits the boards, management and players at football clubs. Clubs selling more tops and more people walking around wearing football tops does not improve the product (entertainment) on the pitch that you pay to go watch on match days. Why would you want the sport to become more consumer driven than it is already!? One of my pet hates is seeing people walking around in football tops every other day besides match days ... especially on Tuesdays.

I'm not advocating that this is what should happen for commercial reasons - I see things pretty much the way you do there. All I'm saying is that if commercialism was the motive, the old rule would make more sense at SFL level than the way things are done now.
AyrshireTon
1344945751[/url]' post='6525122']Seems a very silly old rule. With senior (professional) football clubs, the onus should always be (and have been) on the Away team to know what the Home kit of their opposition is and ensure that they (as the Away team) do not take a strip that clashes with the strip of the Home team. I don't believe that the onus ever was on the Home team if such an incident occurred (without you providing proof to back up such a claim). Forfar once had to use Morton's away kit when the referee deemed the away kit which they brought to be unsuitable. St. Mirren forgot their shirts when paying away at Clydebank and had to use the home "away kit". Just so happens that Bankies were using Cappielow at the time.

Itwiznaeme
On 16th February, at the press conference held that day, RFC Administrators spoke on the record committing RFC to pay the PAYE/NI and VAT owed. This is a recording of that announcement - http://soundcloud.co...will-be/s-2dOPM As UK taxpayers shouldn't everyone be asking the question ... when will that PAYE/NI and VAT be payed!? Forza_Paisley
Five words, just five words and you have worked out my logical argument! Why is this? Have you heard it all before? Time and time again? Have you actually analyzed the situation time and time again but are still forcing your disbelief of your own reasoning? Are you actually beginning to get the picture? Can you see it? SEVCO ARE NOT RANGERS SO WHY THE f**k DO THEY PLAY AT IBROX, WEAR A RANGERS STRIP, USE RANGERS CRESTS AND LOGOS, HAVE THE HISTORY OF RANGERS why can't people see that sevco have pulled off the biggest con in world football. Say what you like but the team currently playing at ibrox is rangers. It's a disgrace.
Broken Algorithms
I think your memory may be at fault. In the 60s and 70s in Scotland the HOME team had to change in the event of a colour clash, or in cup-ties both teams. The rules were only changed to the "English" system some time (I think) about 1980. It was actually the 1950s according to the book I have Why Rangers wore the Red: the inside storyRangers created a bit of a surprise when they took the field on Saturday wearing Raith Rovers' red jerseys. The explanation was simple, but the story behind it is worthy of some publicity writes "Novar". When the Ibrox party arrived at Stark's Park it was discovered that they had brought only their light blue rig out- they didn't even have their equally famous "butchers" outfit with them [Rangers change strip had thin blue and white hoops]. Now Rangers have pulled this stunt before; but Raith weren't falling for it this time, and immediately offered the Ibrox men the use of their jerseys. Rangers weren't keen and suggested that Raith, who had often turned out in red before, should change. Manager Herdman firmly, but politely, refused and even Assistant Manager Bob McPhail, with typical Ibrox diplomacy, could not get the adamant Raith manager to change his mind. And so, Rangers appeared in red, and when it was all over I doubt very much if Raith minded footing a double laundry bill In said game, we managed to win 3-1 with the book describing it as a total victory and a humiliation for Rangers.

craigkillie
A successful con would have led to them playing in the SPL this season - the way Leeds, Middlesbrough, Luton, Bournemouth etc did. What happened here was certainly not "successful", even if it wasn't a total failure since they have a chance to get back to their original place eventually.
Itwiznaeme
He's correct according to all the google searches I did and it was only changed in the 1980's ... though no reference to whether it applied to visiting teams 'away' or any strip they brought.. Articles only state the rules put he onus on the home team where there was a 'clash of strips' ... It appears that when such events occurred the onus was indeed upon the Home team to ensure that they had another strip that didn't clash ... with their own Home strip ... to give to the Away team.
CityDave
Charlie Greene supposedly addressed supporters at ticket office about the new third strip, orange numbers orange cuffs, orange collars and orange stripes. Heres a mock up pinched from RM gives a good idea what the new third strip could look like. Certainly not as obvious as the last oranj one or the one that looked like it had a sash. Nice to see they still have a sense of humour. Edited August 14, 2012 by CityDave

Fife Saint
That top is almost as embarrassing as the Rangers support being conned into believing this is the same club. I'm actually starting to feel for them.
