Big Rangers Administration/Liquidation Thread - All chat here!

At the moment I have Hearts as favourites for next years Championship. The Jambos seem to be getting things right off the park and have some good young players on it and an experienced proven manager.

Meanwhile the new club are a perpetual disaster off the park and on the park they're an ageing and largely hopeless side with a manager who's a laughing stock.

Granted this could change depending on each clubs summer dealings, but as things stand at the moment Hearts look far more likely to skoosh it next year than the new club.

I agree with the above. I'm hoping Hibs join us too as I've never been to an Edinburgh derby and it would be an interesting league with Rangers, Hearts and Hibs. I can't wait, really feeling exhilarated. Onward and upwards :)

Oh for gods sake, they have burned through 70m, even if I am being extremely generous the football cost in there is no more than £20M, it is pretty dam obvious the spivs have been creaming off vast sums of cash, these guys have zero interest in sticking around to run a football club purely for the sake of it.

They (or their predecessors) did indeed burn through £70 million, but it's all accounted for here http://www.rangers.co.uk/images/staticcontent/documents/RangersBusinessReview.pdf

It's difficult to see where the alleged "spivs" are planning to make their fortunes.

The thickest of spivs must have surely have spotted that the owners of even massively successful clubs almost invariably end up poorer. Can anyone quote an example of an owner making money? Chelsea? Man U? Liverpool? Man City?

Rangers are not massively successful, and unlikely to be in the foreseeable future. Even to restore them to mediocrity will require huge injections of cash, which will never return a profit.

And as for asset-stripping, there are none to strip! Ibrox is worthless, except as a home for a successful football club. No-one in their right mind would buy it on a sale and lease-back basis, unless they could be assured that such a club would be around and paying rent for the next 20+ years.

So, what's your take on what the current owners are looking for then? Institutions like Laxey are looking to make profit, so how do you think they intend to realise this profit?

Bloody Hell, I take a few days away on business, and look at the old thread!

Vicky and Pelucia try to re-invent themselves as reasonable posters, but the facade doesn't (couldn't) last. More comprehension classes needed, methinks.

Bendy comes back as a PolterFud.

Maxsta decides, from his long and respected tenure on P&B, that the QC* duties should fall unto him. Also displays an extremely un-berrlike () cavalier attitude towards criminality** if it means there might be a warchest a-coming.

And good old No8., having overcome his aversion to gangsters, Comes with a late run and snatches from wee Bendy's hands the trophy for Most Hilasrious Use Of The Word "Back".

* That's Quality Control, btw.

** And Kittens.

P.S. Monkey Tennis you're fooling no-one. Parking Space were shit after they had that one big hit*** and started churning out commercial shite in a vain attempt to recapture that success. Max respect, mind, for carrying on after they lost their original bass player in that incident with the horny dolphin.

True to an extent. Some of their early stuff was terrific and while its true that they never hit such heights again after achieving chart success, I also think the "sell-out" charge is hugely overstated.

To be honest, I don't think we'll ever get to know the true story of what happened with the dolphin.

It is vaguely accounted for at best, pays offs here, pay offs there, £5M+ on IPO costs and what was the cost of Wifi again? £1.8M? I wonder whose brother / uncle / sister was involved in that firm, it is pretty obvious they have siphoned off money in other ways.

I have no idea where they expect to keep the cash coming from, they probably thought the fans but that has dried up to a trickle, crowds on a PAYG scheme may start off in the high 30`s but will dwindle away fairly quickly if the fans still perceive that those running the club have no interest in moving it forward.

Like you say there is no value in the assets unless they are attached to the club, a few people have tried to argue the case for houses or flats but one drive around Govan shows what a run down depressing area it is, the ground would end up as industrial estate space at best and as for sale and leaseback? this would only work if the fans are willing to back it, we already know the answer to this, football fans will walk away if they do not see a future, Coventry is proof of that, an ex premier team now averaging crowds of 2-3k per week.

Well, everyone (whoops) knows I'm in the 'complete initialisation' camp, when it comes to The Rangers but I'm a reasonable man and will happily settle for permanent mediocrity :thumsup2

Can you not just let it go and give all of this bickering a rest?

Most people are tired of it.

Most areas are prior to redevelopment ... if not houses then a transport depot/warehouse or bus link ... Make no mistake the spivs have plenty of options ... how they proceed depends on the fhannies. They will simply react to 'your' move in the journey to the endgame.

Exactly. There is a big housing shortage and building in what are currently unfashionable areas actually makes good sense in current economic climate. Affordable private housing/first time buyer market. That area will be rejuvenated sooner rather than later, albeit without the Super Casino

While i agree with you, i would remind you that for the last few years a lot of P*Bers have claimed the exact opposite regarding the sale of Ibrox.

The only profit in it that i can see would be for a current investor (say Laxey) to buy it, then lease it back lease it back to the club.

Hmmmm. The only poster I addressed directly was MT, when I queried his appraisal of Parking Space's oeuvre. Hardly bickering. Two to tango, and all that. Kind of backs up my comprehension class recommendation, mind, so thanks for that.

"Most people"? Link, C&P or other proof, please. That's the bennrt way, is it not?

'Gubbed' by the final penalty - goalie on goalie  This No8 truly is the funniest

FWIW I think your youth team would probably gub their own big team btw. Food for thought Ally.

I'm not going down this road, it's boring and pointless.

Quit the digs and try to actually post about the football.

So you gubbed them? .... So Raith Rovers must have pyyure gubbed ye in the Ramsden Cup final given they didn't need extra time, penalties and horrific keeping error to draw level within the 90 mins ...

Gubbed ...

celtic lost to Morton

celtic needed a replay and extra time to beat Arbroath

Cup games, you figure it out....

2-2 aet and winning in a lottery shoot out is "gubbing" someone ?

Not content with watching your own team beat them in this year's Ramsden's, you want to bring up their exit from last season's competition too.

Just drop it. No8 has very strong views on that match.
