WhiteRoseKillie
Haw, it wasn't a cock-measuring exercise, chap. Jet engines aren't started on air.(1) They need some sort of starter motor to get them going. You called it an APU. Do all you like in your business and good luck to you. What the f**k is it with the diddies that they can't acknowledge a wee error in fact?(2) 1)...and the digging continues. 2) You tell us.
Miguel Sanchez
I was sure he had but if you say that he hasn't....I recall you being the first to his defence when I pointed it out the last time "naebdy warnd uz"
WhiteRoseKillie
If you have ever been at the airport and watched a big jet engine start up, you know that the blades start rotating slowly. The electric starter motor does that. Then you (sometimes) hear a pop and see smoke come out of the back of the engine. Then the engine spins up and starts producing thrust. Google says fcuk you billy bigbaws. What were you doing at an airport, Vicky? Chucking bread to the helicopters? Dear Christ, you lot are fucking priceless. Unlike the Good Guys, who just appear to be potless.

strichener
Was a joke mate. They can already transfer season tickets to individuals for a £15 fee or will be transferred on production of a death cert to family members. If the club has a death cert, who is responsible for the transfer.

weirdcal
So lets get this right, lets borrow £5m and use 26% of the retail deal as collateral, loan company wants it back and with that the 26% returns. Company decide no, we wont repay it but we want to renegotiate the terms.. I can see Ashley doing his goodfellas impersonation here. 'f**k you, pay me'
The_Kincardine
1)...and the digging continues. On you go Norman. How do internal combustion engines start? On fucking air?

M4roon Pl4toon
There you go. Gas turbines don't need a starter motor. They just need air. The QC will be inviting you as an expert witness in his next case. The blind leading the partially sighted. I'll bow down to your superior knowledge then Flight Sergeant Kinky. How's your journey getting back to the top then?
WhiteRoseKillie
On you go Norman. How do internal combustion engines start? On fucking air? Oh look, Kinkys widening the definition and trying to deflect from another fúck up. They can use many initial power sources, including elbow grease. The method used in modern aero engines* uses compressed air as its catalyst. *Gas turbines, for the avoidance of doubt and to help you out. -

You could put a 14v battery gun on this and crank it over though surely? [emoji23] Edited June 12, 2015 by M4roon Pl4toon

A jet engine (or gas turbine engine) needs air to start, to spin it's HP compressor. You could generate enough compressed air to start a fleet of Trents at the one time

Fergie's Free Kick
Have to say, the last couple of pages of this thread have been top entertainment The debate on gas turbines is far more, um, riveting. It's blown me away.
The_Kincardine
The debate on gas turbines is far more, um, riveting. It's blown me away. Not far enough We could have discussed engine-specific manufacturers but sadly Rolls Royce died.
