Sons' sorrow

I'd love to see McCallum in pre-season, I think him & an experienced Cawley could work wonders, Kind of like Kane & Nish.

Of course I hope he does well, I just think a 6 month loan out somewhere playing every week will help him.

No comparison in my book, but I do think it may be mccallum's time, we'll find out pre season I think, I think he'll get his chance but I do think another2 strikers will also come in

There's no doubt that since our Managerial change, most people on here are a good bit more, ahem, optimistic.

I'm also looking forward to whatever the season brings, good or bad. Last year was a great achievement what with 3 footballing giants dominating the league. This year's target must be to avoid 9th place at the expense of a diddy team such as Livvy or Morton.

Delighted that Kirkpatrick has signed on again, and in my eyes that could be a better piece of business than if Agnew were to do so. As unlikely as that looks though, if he were to sign on again, our midfield would look very strong. If Agnew leaves for full-time, or elsewhere for that matter, then so be it, I'm content with our midfield just now.

The defence looks relatively solid at the moment, particularly if Taggart signs again as is rumoured.

It's very early and I'm really pleased with the business we've conducted so far, but even with Cawley and McCallum, we'll need at least three strikers between now and the beginning of the season as far as I'm concerned.

Cawley isn't an out-and-out striker, and McCallum, if he were to be playing up there regularly, would need an experienced goal-scorer up there with him. I'd imagine Cawley is more likely to be used as a wide midfielder, and McCallum from the bench to gain more experience this season.

As I mentioned before, I expect 3 strikers to come in between now and the start of the league season. McCallum is an attacking midfielder is he not? I'm pretty sure he was playing in the Cawley style role, playing off or drifting out wide, when he was playing for our youth side.

He took awhile to adjust to the championship, and a few fans were getting on his back (unnecessarily in my opinion) but he was getting better all the time before his injury, good down the wing, excellent crosser of the ball, good luck to him

Even though I'm no a fan of shouting shite at players and getting on their backs, he was pretty awful for a good 4/5 weeks, totally changed my opinion of him after these first few weeks though. Maybe he was lacking fitness, not sure.

Will be a solid signing for airdrie.

Exactly! There seems to be some idea on here that McCallum is some out-and-out goalscorer capable of leading the line. He played 'in behind' for the youths - perhaps we're trying to shape him into striker for the first team though; but he'd need another, more dominant, striker up with him.

It annoyed me last season to see Easton (a loan player) keep getting chances to prove how ineffective he was whilst McCallum (our own player) sat on the bench wondering what he had to do to get a chance.

Very pleasing to see Kirky return. Could be a wise move from him, with Agnew leaving it's opened up the perfect opportunity for him to make that position his own.

He kept Aggy out of the team for a long spell 2 seasons ago, even after Aggy returned from injury. If he can recapture that form then we're laughing.
