Their season is fucked. It sucks, and it's disappointing, but sometimes shit happens and there just isn't a way to undo the consequences. They also seem to think that Saleh should just throw in the towel and publicly declare Wilson a failure and bench him, even though there is no obvious superior alternative. When it comes to New York and East Coast sports the media really are something else altogether. Any bum off the street would be able to pick out Garrett Wilson at least twice a game, considering the amount of times he gets open. Yet Zach Wilson couldn't find him with a fucking sat-nav. Useless Cabbage Patch c**t. Edited September 26 by Mr. Brightside
RiG
I feel like Wilson is probably a bigger bust than Lance from the 2021 draft but because of the picks given up by SF to get Lance it makes their move worse overall.
lichtie23
Swift needs to dump him pronto so all this nonsense about them can be launched into the Atlantic Ocean.

I'm not doubting Wilson is useless, it's the narrative the media have built up that all the Jets need to do is sit him down, bring in Wentz or some other equally as hopeless placeholder, and the Jets will still make the playoffs. It's not going to happen. There are even well-paid people saying the Jets should trade for Mike White, as if the Dolphins are just going to help out a Divisional opponent. Like I said, people lose all common sense when it comes to East Coast/NY sports.

After the first game, if we brought in Wentz I think we would've still had a chance, realistically all we need is a "game-manager" type and we should be in with a shout in every game. It's too late now and trading for Mike White is the worst shout I've ever heard.
Boo Khaki
Well the Jets season is saved because they've signed Trevor Siemian More Jets QB nonsense in the media today, with the claim being made that it is organisational incompetence to have gone into the season without a capable, proven back-up to Zach Wilson. Quarterbackception, where you have to have a back-up to the back-up to the back-up to the back-up otherwise you are not doing your job properly.
Mr. Brightside
They didn't do their job properly because they retained Wilson and let White go, despite him showing last season that he was the far more accomplished QB. No Jets fan can realistically have watched Wilson and consider him an adequate back-up. As soon as Rodgers went down everyone knew the season was done, which might not have been the case with a better back-up.
Boo Khaki
The cap implications of cutting Wilson made it highly unlikely they were going to dump him after two years, plus, that OL is a mess and I can't really see any sub-average QB having any sort of success playing behind it in a 'hold the fort' role in any case. Best case scenario for them was that Rodgers played the year, perhaps with Wilson in spot starter duty if Rodgers missed a few games, Wilson learned and developed enough sat behind AR that he's a viable option 1-2 years from now, and if not, they let him walk without picking up his 5th year. 90% of the teams in the league would be utterly fucked if their starting QB went down for the year in the first quarter of game 1, so I don't really see that as an organisational failing. Perhaps you could make the case that they could have looked for another vet and run with 3 QB's, but you'd be talking about a Mike Glennon type who knows his role, is dirt cheap, and isn't going to cause a QB shitstorm if he doesn't play, but again, with that level of QB play behind that OL the season would still be fucked regardless, and if you do run with 3x QB you can't really keep all of them on the active roster, so it's not plausible to carry two back-ups who have any inherent value anyway without exposing at least one of them to being poached. Doubtful anyone would go after Wilson if they dropped him to the PS, but you never know because there are poverty franchises with cap room who will take fliers on busts with weighty salaries. Wilson still looks utterly bewildered and I honestly don't see him turning it around, but I wouldn't blame the Jets for thinking prior to the season that there is a chance he might have. Even Drew Brees was diabolically bad in his 3rd year and still turned out ok, and you don't plan for an NFL season assuming the absolute worst is going to happen.
RiG
I see Kaepernick has written to the Jets asking for a tryout.
Boo Khaki
Bit strange that a guy who doesn't get camp invites and try-outs when all 32 teams are actually doing that sort of stuff thinks that a team are going to take a chance part way through a season. Fair play to him for still showing the desire to play, and what happened to him will forever be an utterly shameful stain on the NFL, but he's 35, hasn't played in 7 years, and was never that much of a passer to begin with. I can't see why any team would take a look at him at this juncture when they've had multiple off-seasons to kick the tyres and either they didn't bother, or he wasn't interested.
Mr. Brightside
Sad thing is, despite not playing for 87 years, Kaepernick would still be better than Wilson.
GNU_Linux
I'd take Kaepernick in Detroit on the practice squad if only to annoy Kid Rock & Ted Nugent.
Boo Khaki
What a fucking surprise. Week 4, and already the Chargers injury report looks like the opening crawl from a Star Wars movie. Welcome to the new year, same as the old year. Most amusing part is seeing no less that six defensive starters on it, when the entire unit hasn't managed to make contact with a single opponent yet. It's an annoying trait of NFL media, New York is particularly bad. Every team whose QB gets injured gets slated for not having a better backup. Every team that pays good money for a backup that's not needed gets told they should have used the cap money elsewhere.
The Golden God
Chandler Jones has clearly been going through some mental health problems recently, posting some insane stuff on the internet and slagging off everyone and anyone. He also said something about his niece (I think) being abused but then said that he’d been hacked. Now he’s saying Hernandez wasn’t killed. Seriously needs help and soon.
Boo Khaki
I read that he'd already been in a mental health facility, think it was an official release actually. Possible that they've assessed him and decided there are no grounds for detaining him against his will.

Boo Khaki
"Violated a protective order" Hopefully now that cops are involved they'll reassess him and find some way to detain him before something worse happens. Don't know why Twitter is full of folk shouting about CTE because this has all the hallmarks of delusional psychosis.
