Garbage.if your on the field your on the field to play. Are you saying a prop shouldn't touch a scrum half in rugby? Or a big centre half shouldn't clear out a wee striker.

Kickers and punters piss me off with their half arsed attempts to be in the game, arm tackles and pretending to get side stepped.

Bit harsh. Most Kickers/Punters at least try to get involved in blocking a return when they need to, they're on the field with everyone knowing they are the last line of defence, if they need to make a move it's because someone else infront of them wasnt doing their job. You do them a disservice because a lot of them, punters especially, contribute skills that nobody else in the team has and ones that you'd imagine are pretty hard to master.

I know they are not all like that. However as someone who watches a lot of rugby,Gaelic and Aussie football I don't accept the notion that a punter is such a specialised position that they can't run block and tackle also.

I stand by the point that anyone on the field is in the game. They shouldn't be considered defenceless and being a specialised punter or kicker isn't an excuse not to tackle, especially as you say they can be the last line of D.

I would bet with the Aussie punt school you are going to see a more aggressive type of punter/kicker in the coming years and a few more wild cat plays with the punt used as a pass ( I don't know the rules on this one I just saw it mentioned in an article about the Aussie punt school). That's if Goodell doesn't ban charging the punter and returning the football.

Theres a couple of guys in the league just now that came from Aussie rules but I dont think they play noticably differently to any other punters. I suspect coaches dont want them getting to involved in the play either incase they get injured, i mean what team wants to waste cap room/extra wages on a second punter/kicker?
