Let's All Laugh At Celtic Thread

Recommended Posts

Have we over taken Hibs in the to be laughed at table of Scottish football??

1. Sevco

2 .Hibs

3. Celtic

Maybe! At this point in the year, Hibs are usually hopeful of a 'top six finish'. By the New Year they're in a relegation dogfight. This year seems no different, bar the lower league.

Hard to overtake the hibees but Ronnie is giving it a good go..

Quite.

Or more accurately, Neil Lennon realised that the board at Celtic were suffocating the club and that things were only going to get worse financially. Instead of staying at the club he supposedly loves and fighting through the financial constraints he jumped ship to keep intact his integrity and (bizarrely enough when you see his cup record) high standing within the English game.

Ronny Deila has came in and not only paid the price for the boards cost-cutting but also been a victim of Lennon's selfishness. Deila was never going to come straight in and be as successful (LAWL) as Lennon as he (unlike Neil) had to look at rebuilding a poor squad with little or no comparative budget.

Blaming Deila and the board exclusively seems to be the in thing for Celtic fans to partake in, but in doing so they (in a typically Celtic move) ignore the elephant in the room. As Killie fans have found with their MJ/AJ 'protests', if you try to protest against the board/manager by not turning up on a Saturday and/or compare things to the previous regime then inevitably results are going to suffer.

IMO it's perfectly clear that Celtic should have done the same as Rangers should have during their hiatus - sell top players and develop their young players. The fans should have also got behind their new manager from the off and believed in what he can do. Instead, they had their backs up immediately because he wasn't "sellick minded" or had a big name in these Isles. Rangers will return this coming season or next, borrow some money against the Queen's spare crown and tr and buy their way to the top. Celtic will react and do likewise and the fans will inevitably turn back up again and nothing will have changed.

This whole situation was a chance for Scottish football to grow into a forward thinking and exciting footballing nation, and forty clubs have done so. Two haven't, and like our reputation throughout the footballing world, those two will drag us down with them.

They still have the biggest budget in the SPL by miles.

Well investigated.

My point was more along the lines of 'would Celtic be any better off under Neil Lennon'? I don't think so. Systemic problems at that club, and the guy standing in the home dugout at Celtic Park would be hard pressed to solve them.

Top rant lad... I couldn't give a f**k if he is Selik minded or whatever that actually means or if we sign "big names".. As stated many times by fans of other clubs Ronnie still has a far superior squad to any team in Scotland and Maribor and a squad that should not be getting pumped 6-1 by a Polish team.. The fact he doesn't seem to have a clue is what bothers me. Neil Lennon jumped ship because as you correctly say the board have pretty much stopped spending until they arrive in the top league..

As for the last Paragraph, just comes across as utter nonsense to be honest

Are you an expert in Polish or Slovenian football? Is there something that makes Kris Commons instantly much better than Tavares e.g? Maribor drew against Schalke in Gelsenkirchen last week btw.

Or, Dundee have beaten United the same number of times that United have beaten Kilmarnock.

Either answer is correct.

;)

That's true, except it wasn't the point.

The fact that you didn't grasp the point doesn't surprise me.

Ronnie Mackay (So called football journalist for Sun and BBC) is having a fair ol' breakdown on Twitter over Rangers. Even La Leyenda is ripping him a new one.

Just seen that.....his tears for the bygone days where he & his peers were spoon fed their latest OF fix are literally seeping out of every tweet! :P
