Was your year the last year of Standard Grades, then?

Aye, I did mine in 2013 and the next year (iirc) with the first of the Nat 5s became a bit of a shambles. So I think I got lucky there.

Standard Grade was much more forgiving than National 5.

Meight I had to take painkillers before my Modern Studies and History exams. Don't talk to me about forgiving exams.

Have we ever established how old you are, MT?  If you did O Grades then you must be close to my age.  A meringue?

Quite wrang.  I'm well shy of your age.

Standard Grades were derailed by the teachers' dispute, allowing O Grades to limp on into the late 80s.

I sat mine in 1986.  Bizarrely though we were awarded Standard Grade grades ie. 1-6, as opposed to A-E.

Close, I sat a mix of Standard grades and O levels in 1990. Im pretty sure we were the last year to do O levels though

1990?

Ah, I'd have guessed a year or two earlier would have been the last year for O Grades.

Were O levels ever a feature in Scotland though?

Are they O levels as opposed to O Grades?

What year were they acquired in?

1968, so O levels probably? Also a sleuth of higher and 2 Uni degrees ( I still can't type, spell or solve the worlds problems )

Did they award anything below 'A' at O Grade?

O Grades came in during the early 60s I think, to replace a leaving certificate or some such.

I don't think state schools ever offered O Levels here, but I could be wrong, because I know some later offered A Levels.
