beermonkey
Anyone watching this? I've only seen the 1st episode so far but looks pretty decent, I've read some stuff saying it's similar to boardwalk empire, but this one's set in birmingham just after WW1 Thoughts ?
Cruyff14
I had high hopes for it, but some of the attempted Brummie accents are appalling, and the dialogue is a touch clunky and ott. Episode 2 was an improvement on the 1st, so I'll stick with it.
Half Rice Half Chips
Saw a bit of the second episode but don't think I can be doing with the brummie accent for four more episodes. When you think about it, not many tv shows are set in birmingham and I'd imagine the accent is a big factor in that.
Bully Wee Villa
Cheeky fucker! Generally the Brummie accent is quite tricky to master for outsiders. They got their excuses in in advance by saying that Brummie would've sounded different in the interwar years. They've not been great but still better than I expected. Accents aside, the programme itself has been excellent, thoroughly enjoying it.

welshbairn
I found the portrayal of Irish people in this programme offensive Do you mean the stereotypical portrayal of a Belfast policeman played by Sam Neil?

Northsea80
I'm 3 episoides in to this and so far enjoying it. Just shows that the BBC can do really good drama every so often (Sherlock, Life on Mars, Luther being recent examples)
