Great news from the club again. We really seem to be making a concerted effort to actually plan ahead.

Cue cries from the sevco hordes that they never rated mcinnes anyway.

Would have more so taken him last summer. Obviously we are stuck with Langfield and Brown under contract at the moment so really need to be an absolute legend of a keeper or a youngster on loan to justify going with four keepers in the squad (also have Rogers)

After so long being a shambles, Aberdeen really are "doing it right" on so many levels.

Good luck for next season. I'll miss my stroll along to Pittodrie, even if we often came away empty handed. Prob take in a European game or two in July.

Great news for Aberdeen..Signing up and showing faith in the players he,s brought in must be a bonus..Think the league could be a cracker next season..Utd , Caley ,Dons and Hearts hopefully give it a go..Who the F**k needs an insolvent basket case to make the top league a great product ??? eh Doncaster ??

Has McInnes ever had a great eye for a keeper? Chris Smith and Peter Enckelman were his signings of choice at St Johnstone were they not?

As good as Aberdeen's team is right now, that makes it even sadder that they've not even had a half decent keeper since around about 2002 (Kjaer).

Aye, Alan Mannus. Which makes it slightly criminal that we never approached him when his contract was running out imo. Then again, maybe we did and hes just happy in Perth.

Peter Enckelman was an excellent goalkeeper for Saints, one of McInnes' best signings. He was faultless for his first eight months at Saints before making a high profile error on national TV. He was IMO the best goalkeeper outside of the Old Firm in the first half of the following season before making another bad error on TV and after that his confidence started to dip and the new manager, Steve Lomas, had to be fair to Alan Mannus, who even although he wasn't overly special to start with, did enough to retain shirt. With a slashed budget, we couldn't keep both goalkeepers that summer but the fans that watched us every week knew how good Enckelman was.

Graeme Smith was a poor signing but as a newly promoted club with an established number one who was going to get his chance, the pulling power wasn't huge there. McInnes never gave Mannus a chance after convincing him to turn his back on European football at Shamrock Rovers, so don't imagine there would ever be a huge rush on the part of Mannus to rekindle that relationship.

I'm sure he's said he would only leave us if a chance in the English leagues with the right team came up

A couple of horror mistakes aside, Enckelman was excellent for us.

I remember the mistake that effectively ended Encklemans career with us, when he came for a cross against Dundee United and completely missed it, sure we got absolutely rattled after that. Everyone around me was going absolutely mental towards him and hurling all sorts of abuse, while I sat feeling absolutely gutted for him, it was hard to watch as he made the mistake early and it obviously completely crushed him so he just looked completely depressed for the rest of the match.

After being in the Dublin bubble over the weekend, thank god McInnes signed a new contract. To lose him at this point, to that "club" would have been very tough to take. The board have matched his ambition as far as they can stretch the budget, and I appreciate that we are going to lose him eventually, but thankfully he's staying.

Quinn is a decent enough acquisition, not one to get the fans hugely excited but neither were Hector, Logan and Taylor, who all turned into fine signings. Welcome aboard.
