I don't think it's going to work out but you can't do the job he's done as interim and not give it to him.

Let's hope he keeps doing the business.

Aye that’s pretty much how I feel. Always the fear that once the new manager bounce is over things will come crashing down but really can’t complain with the start so far at all and at the moment it would be hard to justify going with anyone else.

also regarding Fox…

Delighted with this.  Have always been of the view that Barry was a manager in the making, and getting Agnew to stay was key as well.  Think he learned a lot from the positive elements of the McInnes era and will bring his own stamp on it.

I suppose other than a couple of early games (one with 10 men for the whole game), we've still not really had a chance to see how his teams handle going behind in a match - but that's to his credit that his teams have not allowed that to happen.

I’m still not sure this is the right appointment.

A 10 game sample is not really much to go on but it was difficult for the club to look elsewhere given the turnaround in results.
There is still time for it to wrong this season, given the 5 fixtures we have & trips to Ibrox, Tynecastle & being forced to Parkhead for a third time.

My “fears” are slightly allayed by the fact Steve Agnew is staying.

I wish them well & hope my suspicions are put to bed in the months ahead.
Massive summer for recruitment with the largest turnaround in players we’ve ever had?

Good luck!

I would disagree and say that a 10 game sample, aligned with what had happened with the club in the 10 games prior to him taking over, is a fair enough time. It's a bit like regardless of what happened afterwards Derek McInnes had to go, regardless of what happened afterwards Stephen Glass had to go, regardless of what happened afterwards Jim Goodwin had to go, and regardless of how this pans out Barry Robson and Steve Agnew had to be given the job.

I actually think the split has worked out well given we were only ever getting two home games - winning them both will take us where we need to get to.

This is of course, easier said than done..................and if Tynecastle does end up being pivotal, then coincidentially our captain's "frivolous" fourth match is that one.  (anyone notice a rather similar challenge from Lundstrom go unpunished early on yesterday? - 'refereee sensibly keeping a lid on things in the white hot atmosphere' apparently)

I'm not sure about the appointment, can't argue with results but a lot of these games we haven't played well.

I would have waited till we achieve 3rd first before giving him the job. I put us slight favs ahead of Hearts as they are strong at home and have 3 games.

It’s got to the point where if anyone else got the job they’d be up against it from the start. A couple of bad results and we’d have everyone asking why we didn’t just give it to Robson. We’d also probably lose Robson entirely if that happened as he would rightfully want a crack at a managerial role after his caretaker spell and he’d have plenty of suitors.

I do have some reservations but I think he’ll do well for us. Having experienced coaching and recruitment staff will undoubtedly help.

I must be in the minority because I think Robson and Agnew are the right men for the job at the right time.

For once, I think Dave Cormack has got this appointment spot on. He didn't make any rush to judgement even as the results improved and we consolidated our position amongst the European places.

However, it has reached the stage where players need to be signed up and preparations made for next season.

The above post is correct, that it would be nigh on impossible for a new manager to replicate Robson's seven win run given that he would more than likely need to acquaint himself with the players and environment.

Robson has been here for ten years in various roles. He's seen a manager with a degree of success at Aberdeen, and he's also ssen failure. He's seen a successful Aberdeen manager lose his way.

The signs are that he's effective with man-management, his interviews shown him tactically coherent and we imagine that Agnew also specialises tactically.

As long as the fans don't start panicking if we go on the inevitable bad run then I think we might have a trophy winning manager now in place.

What's that now?  Seven straight victories for Robson?  That's a pretty bloody decent extended job interview tbf.  Think the Dons board would've been pretty exposed to criticism if they hadn't appointed Robson after that run.

Well he isn't going to maintain an 80% win record so it's inevitable there will be a downturn in fortunes but I'm hopeful with this appointment that we have a manager and assistant who realise that we should be the 3rd biggest club in the country and will bring in better quality players than Glass and Goodwin did.

I am still a bit nervous about the appointment but the results since Robson has been in charge meant board had to offer him the gig. Agnew being involved does make me a bit happier though.

Experienced CEO = Allan Burrows

New Management team = Robson, Agnew and Fox.

Next up summer rebuild. I'd argue since Mowbray took over the recruitment team with had more hits than misses.

Re Mowbray, they seem to be very good, or insufferably shite.
There’s very little in between.

Duk, Miovski, Ramadani, Clarkson, Pollock, MacDonald (& maybe Roos?) the former.

Morris, Richardson, Roberts, Markanday the latter.

Scales & Stewart were 100% Goodwin.

Perhaps who falls between the two is Coulson

One thing for sure, with up to 13-15 leaving & broadly similar coming in, he better have a good hit rate this summer.
