Wouldn’t that affect our ability to negotiate any potential fees? We can still negotiate now. We waived the development fee for Anderson to get JET. 1 hour ago, coprolite said: It's difficult to know how much blame to put on the club. If he's made up his mind that he's not signing then there's little the club can do to force him. The rumour was he just wanted to be paid a similar amount to teammates playing the same position. Club offered him a paltry amount in comparison.

Aberdeen, and Scottish clubs in general, don't produce many players like him. They could both be in Serie B by the time he arrives. It surprises me because I don't think he's good enough but I would view this interest as more the produce of the Lewis Ferguson effect with more Italian clubs thinking they can unearth a Scottish gem. I thought similar when Calvin Ramsey went to Liverpool for that ridculously over-inflated price for a lad that hadn't even proved himself at Aberdeen, and seemed to struggle to complete a full game. I put that down to the Andy Robertson effect (see also Nathan Patterson's move to Everton). It would be a hard gig for Barron in the lower reaches of Serie A. Liverpool took a punt on Ramsay because his data compared favourably to Alexander Arnold.

I wonder if he is one of these players who impresses a bit more through the eye test.
anotherchance
Tend to agree that it’s not been the best environment for Barron to thrive in, but often feel that there’s been games which he could’ve grabbed by the scruff of the neck and imposed himself more, but didn’t. Italy will be great for him though, albeit expecting his trajectory to be more Josh Doig or Liam Henderson than perhaps Ferguson.

Dons_1988
In all seriousness that is absolutely farcical way of making the decision and explains a lot. That decision took fucking ages on Saturday and turns out they’ve ultimately guessed in the end. Mental stuff.

I had been a seething mess at the club's lack of statement on this one since the bizarre decision not to 'release the lines' to the broadcasters. Breaking our 'never been relegated' record has never been so appealing, such is the ruination of our game by VAR. It has just made the corruption/incompetence worse, after the the foolish notion of thinking it could put an end to that - not to mention killing those spontaneous moments of joy that are the reason many of us watch football.
Leith Green
Good statement from Aberdeen. I hadnt been aware there was an issue (was in pub post match drowning my sorrows) but that sounds utterly shambolic. Just imagine - stop laughing at the back - what would have happened if this had been Rangers or Celtic........................

kingjoey
This is f*ck*ng outrageous. If Sportscene is to be believed, the SFA told them that because the "offside " was so obvious they didn't need to release "the lines". We now find out that there were no lines to release. It is an absolutely scandalous decision. Totally guessing to overturn an on-field without even involving the referee. F *ck off.
