Thats Tommy Wright confirmed we're in talks over signing May, and it sounds like it might be a permanent deal thats being worked on.

Good move all-round. Except for St. Johnstone.

May just needs a big old hug and he'll be fine.

Our striking options last season were Tony Watt (3 league goals), Chris Kane (3 league goals), and David McMillan (2 league goals), so May will fit in just fine.

Aberdeen fans pretending they have any bargaining power in regards to a fourth choice striker whos scored about 5 league goals in two seasons 😂

Apparently Aberdeen are wanting the deal done before Thursday.

That's the equivalent of winking on the river, and going all in.

I don't think that would be beneficial to anyone, and Steve Brown is hard heided enough to just sack the whole deal off, and rip the heart out all our supporters, if he doesn't fancy it.

No idea what a good deal would be for Aberdeen though, being reported you paid £300k and wages on top must make it close to half a million so far? Would be pointless, and illogical, to shell out another six figure fee to then pay him off.

FWIW I think we'd be willing to pay a fee for him, and I think Aberdeen might accept a reduced one if we stick something like a hefty sell on clause into it, means you get his wage off the books, get a fee, and could also benefit if he recovers his form with us.

If it's less than the value of his remaining contract, then it would be a good deal.

Let's assume he's on say £3k p/w and we get St. Johnstone to pay a nominal £100k, and he drops to £2k p/w at St. Johnstone. The difference in salary would amount to £104k, meaning we would only be out of pocket by £4k

That theory makes a lot of sense.

Too much sense, in fact.

I'm now utterly convinced you're ITK and know we've signed May for £100k

May made Broon over £1m last time around, £100k seems like sound financial sense IMO.

Because one of our own is trapped in Aberdeen and needing saved.

If enough of us get involved, then just £5 a month each will help save May from his suffering, please, support the cause now by getting in touch with either @steviemay17 or @ali_91 to donate.

I'm not pretending to be ITK, just giving a logical response to your proposition that it wouldn't make sense for us to pay to get rid of May. The figures are entirely made up.

Because he's under contract until 2021. The money for his contract is already set aside, and as such doesn't present an increased liability. We have no reason to release him unless another club makes an offer, given that we are in great shape financially.

Realistically, May will likely be on between £2k and £4k p/w, probably middle to the top end of that scale. Meaning there's between £312k, and £416k we are liable for. If we can move him on, his new wage plus any minimal fee we receive will cut into what we're liable for.

Indeed. He's under contract with you. A contract you want to lose. So, how are you going to incentivise us to take that contract over?

It's not about incentivising. As I said, we're liabile for the rest of his current contract, which at a guess is between £300k and £400k ish. Assuming the scenario I suggested earlier, we'd have to pay £4k. If we didn't receive a fee at all, it would be £104k. That equates to an extra £1000 p/w for a contract for someone else. So of course we're going to try to get a fee. Logically speaking, we have nothing more to lose by keeping May, and only a little to gain by selling him. We have even less to gain by releasing him for free.

NO. Well, ok. As long as you have a word with Tommy and explain the situation.
