Good move all-round. Except for St. Johnstone.

Our striking options last season were Tony Watt (3 league goals), Chris Kane (3 league goals), and David McMillan (2 league goals), so May will fit in just fine.
d31
I dont think the Dons need to be rushing in to offering a pay off. Ask saints to stump up a chunky signing on fee to persuade May

No idea what a good deal would be for Aberdeen though, being reported you paid £300k and wages on top must make it close to half a million so far? Would be pointless, and illogical, to shell out another six figure fee to then pay him off. FWIW I think we'd be willing to pay a fee for him, and I think Aberdeen might accept a reduced one if we stick something like a hefty sell on clause into it, means you get his wage off the books, get a fee, and could also benefit if he recovers his form with us.

If it's less than the value of his remaining contract, then it would be a good deal. Let's assume he's on say £3k p/w and we get St. Johnstone to pay a nominal £100k, and he drops to £2k p/w at St. Johnstone. The difference in salary would amount to £104k, meaning we would only be out of pocket by £4k

The figures are entirely made up. 1 minute ago, Tibbermoresaint said: We won't be paying a fee. Why would we? Because he's under contract until 2021. The money for his contract is already set aside, and as such doesn't present an increased liability. We have no reason to release him unless another club makes an offer, given that we are in great shape financially. Realistically, May will likely be on between £2k and £4k p/w, probably middle to the top end of that scale. Meaning there's between £312k, and £416k we are liable for. If we can move him on, his new wage plus any minimal fee we receive will cut into what we're liable for.

So, how are you going to incentivise us to take that contract over?

So, how are you going to incentivise us to take that contract over? It's not about incentivising. As I said, we're liabile for the rest of his current contract, which at a guess is between £300k and £400k ish. Assuming the scenario I suggested earlier, we'd have to pay £4k. If we didn't receive a fee at all, it would be £104k. That equates to an extra £1000 p/w for a contract for someone else. So of course we're going to try to get a fee. Logically speaking, we have nothing more to lose by keeping May, and only a little to gain by selling him. We have even less to gain by releasing him for free. 4 minutes ago, RandomGuy. said: LET ME DREAM YOU f**k. NO. Well, ok.
