thepundit
I see the Sports minister has said she expects Scottish Athletes still to be funded by UK sport after a yes vote. Could someone explain why this should happen? It would only makes sense if Scotland were to remain part of Team GB in the event of a Yes vote. If not then they should be funded by the Scottish government.
1320Lichtie
We are entitled to a share of UK Sport funding because it is part of UK government funding, just as we would look to negotiate a share in the same way we would look at defence spending and foreign affairs spending, Ms Robison said. So we would want a share of that UK Sport funding to support Scottish Olympic and Paralympic athletes. We have also already set out that we would like the Lottery to continue as it does. We contribute our fair share to the Lottery, perhaps slightly more, so we will seek for that to continue. Would want our share of the funding which seems reasonable and the same from the lottery as Scottish people will still be buying lottery tickets, what's so hard to understand? It would only makes sense if Scotland were to remain part of Team GB in the event of a Yes vote. If not then they should be funded by the Scottish government.
