That squad not for the first time demonstrated no ability to threaten opponents- hit and hope crosses instead of constructed attacks - and a defense that at some point will leak shit goals. Guys like Gowser and Kerr are done as far as higher level goes, our keeper is a disaster. Yes 80% decent. The majority on here have been asking for 3 positions; left wing, centre half and goalkeeper. However they need to be played to suit their ability... Is Hemmings a good striker? Absolutely, but is he a good lone striker without service? Is he f**k. Is Dorrans a good midfielder? Without a doubt, but is he good sitting deep and having all the play go past him? Is he f**k. Is Gowser good at breaking up opposition play and turning defence into attack? Yes he is, but is he good as a target man? Is he f**k. Our top goal scorer never gets a start and this 1 up front has never worked. I said it about the last 3 managers and McPake is doing the same, stubbornness is their downfall. This is all down to him not utilising a perfectly capable squad properly.

Absolutely spot on regards Dorrans, McGowan and Hemmings. If we can see it why can't our idiot manager?
Shadow Play
A team without confidence, lacking leadership, devoid of any inspiration and slow in thinking. This team is definitely a team that reflects the manager.
Fifespud
I’m in France. Managed to get a vpn set up last night to watch the game. We were absolutely shite. I don’t think the squad is as good as some of us like to kid ourselves it is but McPake is totally clueless and needs punted. It’s pretty grim when lads like are so disinterested we are considering jacking it.
ravabelli
To be brutally honest the whole of that defence needs punted, sentiment and half decent games now and then aside, none of them are good enough for this level never mind one above

That's the thing, he went two up front and we were playing MUCH better for it. For whatever reason he reverted to type last night and killed us in the first half.
Ludo*1
Craig Curran finally has a new club as he's joined Connah's Quay Nomads.

We have played our best football this season with two up front yet Neilson then changes it for no apparent reason.
Sortmeout
Crazy to think that one foul on Jordan Jones caused all of this.
Dee Bliss
Read dafties on other forums and twitter that have a bee in their bonnet about people asking to play 2 upfront. If they can’t see that we don’t have the players to suit this 4-3-2-1 system or even understand their positioning on the park then it’s not worth even trying to discuss it with them. McPake clearly prefers this 2-1 formation at the top end of the park with either 4 or 5 at the back yet the lunatic never signed the players to play this way. The club’s sleep walking towards oblivion. Actually appointing the right manager since Hartley would change all this quickly enough though.

Nah it was the game where no one was allowed to leave until Celtic scored the winner that done us over. Took them about 100 minutes but they got there eventually! Hemmings scored 26 goals in a season as a loan striker in his last spell with us. They’re just so badly coached that we don’t do anything properly whether that’s 1 up top or 2. Talking formations is a waste of time, it really doesn’t make that much of a difference.

Yes, against a team that had a two goal lead, and were happy to sit in, let us have the ball, and hit us on the counter. Every time we've played a 4-4-2 this season the midfield gets totally over run because none of our midfielders are physical or athletic enough for us to get away with playing only two in the middle. Folk shouting constantly for two up front seem to be oblivious to this. Think back to Palmerston where Nelson ended up having to play right in front of Dorrans and Robertson because Queens were just playing straight through us otherwise. No, Hemmings on his own isn't working and is an exercise in futility, but playing 2 up top has just created a whole set of different problems for us every time we've tried it in an even match. D.A.F.C
Thought you guys looked slow and lacking any width. McDaid ok but isolated. You would think with dorrans, Byrne, McGowan plus hemmings theres enough quality. Bit like us, younger manager not getting enough out the side. Picking the best players and having weaknesses that he cant fix.
