To my mind this game could prove to be pivotal, even this early in the season.

If Elgin win, they leapfrog us with a game in hand. On top of that, we go into a tough Cup game against a winning Spartans team who, I'm sure will give us a much harder game than Turriff did, with the heads down. The last thing we want is to be bottom of the League and out of the Cup come next Saturday.

BF really does need to get himself on the park and encourage/coach from within the team, a la Kernaghan, because it clearly isn't working from the dug out.

Don't think I'm going to make this but I'm keeping my fingers and everything else crossed for a win.

Far from convincing but we got the points. Durie with a good turn and burst up forward lead to the first goal and Marvin Andrews strolling about like a 2 year old wean learning to walk gave us the winning goal.

Should have been convincing.

For 65 minutes we were excellent against an admittedly poor Elgin.

Then fergie makes a terrible mistake, we lose a goal and panic sets in.

Some of our "support" today was appalling.

McManus tremendous, and good shifts from watt, durie & McQueen.

Wel done to all the team and staff 3 hard earned points keeps things going in the right direction at times it wasn't pretty I thought the front two of watt and McManus put in a real shift McManus s constant chasing and watt right place right time they are beginning to look like a duo that can get goals

Elgin, much like Annan/Montrose, didn't look like scoring and although Ferguson gave the ball away for their goal the defending in such situations will now doubt be worked on in training and we didn't ever look like stopping them.

2-1 and a nervy end to some extent disguises the fact that for much of the game it looked like we'd end up winning 3 or 4. In dreadful conditions, we retained possession superbly for the first hour and didn't ever look like conceding. Credit to Ferguson, who made a silly substitution that opened up our midfield but he then fixed it by bringing on McLeish. Durie had another good game and did superbly for the opener. McQueen had another fine match apart from a spell in the second half when he stopped being as aggressive. I thought Gray was our best player, just ahead of McManus who is a terrific striker at this level. Not much in the way of poor performances from the rest of the team either. We've now got a bit of momentum and we've got a couple of winnable games to get us firmly lodged in the playoff spots ahead of our trip to Arbroath.

Elgin were rubbish. A team with a terrific pair of strikers and a good pair of wingers (though Moore in particular had a nightmare) but the back four was really poor (Andrews in particular had a shocker), whilst the centre midfielders didn't really do anything bar Nicolson scoring the goal. Only really their home form gives them a chance of avoiding bottom spot.

Finally, our fans are an absolute nightmare. Imagine shouting abuse at your own team for retaining possession

I honestly give up with some sections of our support and wouldn't be surprised if Ferguson comes out and slams some of the fans in the papers tomorrow.

We played some pretty nice football in the first hour, comfortable in possession and created a few chances (resulting in 2 goals, albeit from defensive mistakes from Elgin) and our fans still moan at us for not getting the ball up the pitch quicker... do they want us to punt high balls up the park to two small strikers against Marvin fucking Andrews?

Great to have such a good goalkeeper like we do right now but really hope he signs until the end of the season. Thought the back 4 were good, Durie and Frances in particular, and Gray proved again why he's probably our best midfielder right now. McManus was good as well and if he had a bit more composure with a couple of his chances he'd have grabbed a couple along with Watt. Also thought Smith had his best game for us as well, looks to be finding his feet at the club and at this level of football.

4 (5?) games unbeaten now, we weren't great against Albion Rovers but I do think the shit pitch in that game was a major factor. It's such a massive difference for us when we have a good pitch to play on.

Elgin were really shit, don't blame the fans not travelling to away games if they play like that at every away game.

Relegation has to be a real concern now.

Calm it, things aren't that bad. We're only 5 points off 4th with a game in hand over every team in-between 4th and 9th. We've only played 3 games at home all season and 6 of our next 8 league games are at home, so if we're still bottom at that stage then that will be the point to start worrying about relegation

That's a surprise to hear that our fans have been awful again in their support of the team. I find myself almost getting into arguments at most home games with a certain group that sit near the away directors and close to the away support section.

It seems like to some fans that keeping the ball is a crime and we should launch it forward as quickly as possible no matter which giant centre halls that our small strikers are playing against.

Made hard work of the game having gone two goals up. The manager reacting to crowd advice/abuse (delete where applicable continues.

Pleased for the much maligned Kevin Watt, also thought McIlduff had a decent game. O'Donnell gave the ball away too many times in the second half. Elgin looked like they came for a draw.

The bunch in question are just the most insufferable dicks. But time and again they get away with murder. The club are quick to blame the right hand side fans for everything (you know....the ones who stand in the pishing rain at Montrose singing their tits off only for the players to run off the park quickly as possible) yet the mutants on the other side get a bloody audience with the very players they bellow at all year round!!!. I guess a tartan rug and a quirky corner/throwin game sorts it all out, huh. Until of course anyone (and i mean anyone) might want to exploit 'our kind'...no, surely no.....
