an86
A deserved victory in a game that we dominated from start to finish. Only amazed that we didn't score more when Arbroath were camped in their own box for most of the second half.
Smokie_Bacon_crisps
https://www.flickr.com/photos/scotsman_in_hawaii/sets/72157648778513089/ - Photographs from the game I think several people were watching very different games. I don't think we dominated the second half. Queen's Park had several chances and Scott made a few good saves, even more so with a slippy playing surface. I don't think we can criticise any of our players. We are top of the league, in the 4th round of the cup and yet some people are still not happy. I did feel for Keiran Stewart as I think he does a lot in games, but it often goes un-noticed due to his role and position and felt we missed him today. I can understand that Dylan probably gets in the team as the more he plays perhaps the more likely Dundee may want to let him continue at Gayfield but he is away again for a few games on duty for Canada and so perhaps he would have been better as a substitute today. I thought Ricky Little had another good game for us and I don’t get the criticism towards Bobby Linn. Yes, he doesn’t often pass, but he literally was involved in everything for us and often had 4 Queen’s players chasing after him and sometimes they were even falling over themselves to get at him. When he did pass and continued his runs he didn’t get the pass back he wanted. I’d keep Murray on for as long as we can. Out of the 4 strikers we have he is the one who can create something out of nothing. Queen’s are a good team and the previous game highlighted how close we were matched. I think the title and promotion looks a three horse race between Queen’s, Albion and ourselves. The saving grace was the Albion Rovers draw today, which worked in our favour. QPSAFalkirkFirm
Terrific result and performance from QP. First half was well balanced with half- chances for both teams. Second half was in favour of Arbroath but not entirely one- sided. The 60-80 minute period was dominated by the maroon and our propensity to hoof out of defence straight to the Arbroath central defenders wasn't make life easier. That said, there wasn't many clear chances and our central defenders were immense today. Considering these boys didn't knew each other four months ago and we were facing a team that is, by some measure, the best attacking team in the league it was a big test today and we stood up well. The fans jubilation at the second goal was from relief as much as anything but also a big sign that the fans are believing they have a team to make their Saturday's special again. Can't remember the last time I saw that kind of reaction. Two very good goals from open play against the league leaders away from home - superb! Arbroath are a very good team and look likely to last the pace. Your goalie never put a glove wrong and if that was Linn having a bad day can we have him please so he can play shite like that every week. A great set- up there and a warm welcome as always. You won't lose much at Gayfield this season. MoTM for QP: Rooney, Muir and Miller were outstanding with the rest having a good day other than Burns but the top guns were definitely Wharton and McGregor. Heroic stuff from them. Skyline Drifter; Slattery did well in a holding/ supporting midfield role. Played the full game. Nice feet and got involved. Doesn't look like he's been playing much at Palmerston from your OS so a good start today from him.
timlichtie
That was the most one sided game I've seen at Gayfield this season. Queens set up to defend, nicked 2 goals and rode their luck. We played all the football. If they are the closest opposition, then the Lichties have every chance of winning this league.

an86
Take the maroon tinted glasses off...we deserved to lose. Don't think you'd even get many Queen's fans agreeing with that. If you'd been more composed in front of goal you'd have taken something from the game, quite possibly even a win. That's not to take anything away from our lads who were dogged and committed from the first whistle to the last and gave absolutely everything to the cause. We took our chances, including a terrific break for the second goal, when they came and we fought for every single ball. This might not be the best Queen's Park team in terms of ability, but it's a strong unit and very few teams are going to outfight us this season. 1320Lichtie
Don't think you'd even get many Queen's fans agreeing with that. Exactly. We deserved to lose as we didn't take our chances and score which football is all about, but if you were to watch that game with the goals taken out of it as a neutral and asked who you thought won you'd have thought we would have won by a couple, like I said the early goal probably changed it. It gave QP something to hang on to, which they did well with a lot of luck to but I just cannot believe we have come away from that today without even a point. Really really frustrating day. Not had many of them this season so can't complain, up and at it next week. Arbroath/Elgin wins please. C'mon the Broath.
keptie
Well it had to happen sometime we couldn't keep on winning game after game it was begining to stress me out anyway all this winning,it aint natural for us .As for the game we ought to have taken something from it but again our lack of composure in front of goal did us but Queens played well especially first half, they had fewer chances than Arbroath overall but made our keeper work more than Arbroath made the QP keeper work due to our poor shooting and looked a decent team so good luck to them.Still top of the league though and we will have plenty more ups and downs to come this season. Doesn't look like he's been playing much at Palmerston from your OS so a good start today from him. No, he's hardly had a look in since we got back to the first division which is a shame because we've high hopes for him and he's a good player. We're just so strong in his favoured central midfield position that chances have been very limited. He played a few games in our second division title winning season two years ago but only managed one appearance off the bench last season (Challenge Cup at Airdrie) and none at all so far this season though he's been on the bench more often than not. He should probably have gone out on loan last season for some experience, not sure why that didn't happen, but it will do him the world of good to be playing regular SPFL level football. I'm sure he'll do well.
QPSAFalkirkFirm
We're just so strong in his favoured central midfield position...........he's been on the bench more often than not. We've a specific role due to injury that sounds a perfect fit for him. Hopefully both our teams will benefit then. Better on the grass than the bench. We're prone to obtuse nicknames at QP so I'm guessing he might be lovingly called The Judge
QPSAFalkirkFirm
QP should wear masks to go with those striped jerseys. Never seen such a one sided 2nd half but we are so wasteful with our chances. Need to sharpen up in the box. Makes for some game next Sat at Cliftonhill. C'MON LICHTIES on an other day we could have had 5, 9 wins in our 1st 11 games, cant be angry That was the most one sided game I've seen at Gayfield this season. Queens set up to defend, nicked 2 goals and rode their luck. We played all the football. If they are the closest opposition, then the Lichties have every chance of winning this league. It gave QP something to hang on to, which they did well with a lot of luck Official match stats show posession as 55/45 so not quite a walkover. More interestingly; Arbroath 16 shots with 4 on target. QP 9 and 6. Six shots on target against four, there's your problem gentlemen. And that's hardly hanging on if we had six shots on target. Maybe your players and coaches might reflect that somebody came to town and asked some hard questions and they didn't have all the answers. If you want to be champions a wee jolt here and there won't do you any harm. See you back at Hampden in the new year.

SimonLichtie
The main man yesterday was Gus McPherson - I thought he set Queen's Park up superbly, of course the early goal shaped the way they played, especially in the second half, but the constant high line and doubling up on our key players whenever they had a chance to go on a run throughout the 90 minutes saw us struggle to break them down at times and was the difference (alongside poor finishing from ourselves). However, as I'm sure QP fans would agree, the result could have easily been any of the 3 possible outcomes and a very solid defensive, disiplined and tactically astute performance got the win on the day. Philip0402
Cannot believe we let ourselves get beat by that garbage yesterday they are useless yet we made so many errors of judgement we gave them the win and don't get started on the ref and linesmen hope the they had a good knees up with the QP boys when they got back SHOCKING BIASED should never be allowed to ref again. Shelldon
Think some arbroath fans are being quite harsh on Queens Park yesterday. If there's one thing you don't do against a Gus McPherson team, it's let them take an early lead against you. Think in previous weeks we've seen the best of Carreiro, yesterday we saw the worst, poor passing, lightweight and not tracking his full back. Do think it was a penalty on Linn when he was booked for diving. Queens park second was a classic counter attack with a clinical finish, something we were unable to manage until three minutes later when McManus nodded home. Onto next week at Cliftonhill!
