makemgeordie
Trekked up to Meadowbank got in early, as a bumper crowd expected to cheer on the Lowland league champions, queued for 25 seconds and managed to get a seat in the stand. then low and behold , The Ed city Fans poured in with their championship winners scarfs and new bob hats. Nanna,Grandad, Mam Dad and the all the Wee bairns. the exiled geordie on the pie and bovril's stall was swamped As predicted Gretna gave the Champions a guard of honour onto the pitch. game kicked off with Gretna having the wind behind them , the wind had a major factor in the game , with ball after ball going out of play and game stopped till another ball provided or the ball that went out of play returned. not much to the 1st half but the crowd were generating a great atmosphere . 2nd half the Champions city playing with the wind again had to wait for ball after ball to be returned from the running track a few scares in front of the Gretna goal , then the Mexican wave began and with the crowd starting to embrace the fluent play from both teams. The drums beating with bum bum bum City bum bum bum city echoing round the stadium and security appeared to check that the crowd were not preparing to invade the pitch at the end. didnt want a scene like Villa and WBA Gretna had final 5 minute rally but all the pressure against a very strong wind ended with the game in stalemate 0-0 . me and wor boy didnt stay for the presentation but well done Edinburgh City. and good luck in play offs.
